Revelation 18:15-24
15The 1merchants of 2these things, who became rich from her, will 3stand at a distance because of the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning, 16saying, ‘4Woe, woe, 5the great city, she who 6was clothed in fine linen and purple and scarlet, and 7adorned with gold, precious 8stones, and pearls; 17for in 9one hour such great wealth has been laid 10waste!’ And 11every shipmaster and every 12passenger and sailor, and all who 13make their living by the sea, 14stood at a distance, 18and were 15crying out as they 16saw the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘17What city is like 18the great city?’ 19And they threw 19dust on their heads and were crying out, weeping and mourning, saying, ‘20Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had ships at sea 21became rich from her prosperity, for in 22one hour she has been laid 23waste!’ 2024Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you 25saints and 26apostles and prophets, because 27God has 28pronounced judgment for you against her.”
21Then 29a 30strong angel 31picked up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, “So will Babylon, 32the great city, be thrown down with violence, and 33will never be found again. 22And 34the sound of harpists, musicians, flute players, and trumpeters will never be heard in you again; and no craftsman of any craft will ever be found in you again; and the 35sound of a mill will never be heard in you again; 23and the light of a lamp will never shine in you again; and the 36voice of the groom and bride will never be heard in you again; for your 37merchants were the powerful people of the earth, because all the nations were deceived 38by your witchcraft. 24And in her was found the 39blood of prophets and of 40saints, and of 41all who have been slaughtered on the earth.”
