3For out of the northמִצָּפ֗וֹןmi.tza.FonH6828there cometh upעָלָה֩'a.LahH5927a nationגּ֜וֹיGoyH1471against her, which shall makeיָשִׁ֤יתya.ShitH7896her landאַרְצָהּ֙'ar.TzahH776desolateלְשַׁמָּ֔הle.sha.MahH8047,and none shall dwellיוֹשֵׁ֖בyo.ShevH3427therein: they shall removeנָ֥דוּNa.duH5110,they shall departהָלָֽכוּ׃ha.La.khuH1980,both manמֵאָדָ֥םme.'a.DamH120and beastבְּהֵמָ֖הbe.he.MahH929.

5They shall askיִשְׁאָ֔לוּyish.'A.luH7592the wayדֶּ֖רֶךְDe.rekhH1870to Zionצִיּ֣וֹןtzi.YonH6726with their facesפְנֵיהֶ֑םfe.nei.HemH6440thitherwardהֵ֣נָּהHe.nahH2008, saying,Comeבֹּ֚אוּBo.'uH935,and let us joinוְנִלְו֣וּve.nil.VuH3867ourselves to the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068in a perpetualעוֹלָ֖םo.LamH5769covenantבְּרִ֥יתbe.RitH1285thatshall not be forgottenתִשָּׁכֵֽחַ׃ סti.sha.Khe.achH7911.

6My peopleעַמִּ֔י'a.MiH5971hath been lostאֹֽבְדוֹת֙'oe.dOtH6sheepצֹ֤אןtzonH6629:their shepherdsרֹעֵיהֶ֣םro.'ei.HemH7462have caused them to go astrayהִתְע֔וּםhit.'UmH8582,they have turned them awayשֽׁוֹבְב֑וּםshoe.vimH7726 H7725onthe mountainsהָרִ֖יםha.RimH2022:they have goneהָלָ֔כוּha.La.khuH1980from mountainמֵהַ֤רme.HarH2022to hillגִּבְעָה֙giv.'AhH1389,they have forgottenשָׁכְח֖וּsha.khe.ChuH7911their restingplaceרִבְצָֽם׃riv.TzamH7258.

7All that foundמוֹצְאֵיהֶ֣םmotz.'ei.HemH4672them have devouredאֲכָל֔וּם'a.kha.LumH398them: and their adversariesוְצָרֵיהֶ֥םve.tza.rei.HemH6862saidאָמְר֖וּ'a.me.RuH559,We offendנֶאְשָׁ֑םne'.ShamH816not, because they have sinnedחָטְא֤וּcha.te.'UH2398against the Lordלַֽיהוָה֙la.Yah.wehH3068,the habitationנְוֵה־ne.veh-H5116of justiceצֶ֔דֶקTze.dekH6664,even the Lordיְהוָֽה׃ סYah.wehH3068,the hopeוּמִקְוֵ֥הu.mik.VehH4723of their fathersאֲבֽוֹתֵיהֶ֖ם'a.vo.tei.HemH1.

8Removeנֻ֚דוּNu.duH5110out of the midstמִתּ֣וֹךְmi.TokhH8432of Babylonבָּבֶ֔לba.VelH894,and go forthצֵ֑אוּya.tze.'uH3318out of the landוּמֵאֶ֥רֶץu.me.'E.retzH776of the Chaldeansכַּשְׂדִּ֖יםkas.DimH3778,and be as the he goatsכְּעַתּוּדִ֖יםke.'a.tu.DimH6260beforeלִפְנֵי־lif.nei-H6440the flocksצֹֽאן׃TzonH6629.

9For, lo, I will raiseמֵעִיר֩me.'IrH5782and cause to come upוּמַעֲלֶ֨הu.ma.'a.LehH5927against Babylonבָּבֶ֜לba.VelH894an assemblyקְהַל־ke.hal-H6951of greatגְּדֹלִים֙ge.do.LimH1419nationsגּוֹיִ֤םgo.YimH1471from the northצָפ֔וֹןtza.FonH6828countryמֵאֶ֣רֶץme.'E.retzH776:and they shall set themselves in arrayוְעָ֣רְכוּve.'A.re.khuH6186against her; from thence she shall be takenתִּלָּכֵ֑דti.la.KhedH3920:their arrowsחִצָּיו֙chi.TzavH2671shall beas of a mightyכְּגִבּ֣וֹרke.gi.BorH1368expert manמַשְׁכִּ֔ילmash.KilH7921 H7919;none shall returnיָשׁ֖וּבya.ShuvH7725in vainרֵיקָֽם׃rei.KamH7387.

10And Chaldeaכַשְׂדִּ֖יםkhas.DimH3778shall be a spoilלְשָׁלָ֑לle.sha.LalH7998:all that spoilשֹׁלְלֶ֥יהָsho.le.Lei.haH7997her shall be satisfiedיִשְׂבָּ֖עוּyis.Ba.'uH7646,saithנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

11Because ye were gladתִשְׂמְחוּ֙tis.me.chiH8055,because ye rejoicedתַֽעֲלְז֔וּta.'al.ziH5937,O ye destroyersשֹׁסֵ֖יsho.SeiH8154of mine heritageנַחֲלָתִ֑יna.cha.la.TiH5159,because ye are grown fatתָפ֙וּשׁוּ֙ta.fu.shiH6335as the heiferכְּעֶגְלָ֣הke.'eg.LahH5697at grassדָשָׁ֔הda.ShahH1758 H1877,and bellowוְתִצְהֲל֖וּve.titz.ha.liH6670as bullsכָּאֲבִּרִֽים׃ka.'a.bi.RimH47;

12Your motherאִמְּכֶם֙'i.me.KhemH517shall be soreמְאֹ֔דme.'OdH3966confoundedבּ֤וֹשָׁהBo.o.shahH954;she that bareיֽוֹלַדְתְּכֶ֑םyo.lad.te.KhemH3205you shall be ashamedחָפְרָ֖הcha.fe.RahH2659:behold, the hindermostאַחֲרִ֣ית'a.cha.RitH319of the nationsגּוֹיִ֔םgo.YimH1471shall bea wildernessמִדְבָּ֖רmid.BarH4057,a dry landצִיָּ֥הtzi.YahH6723,and a desertוַעֲרָבָֽה׃va.'a.ra.VahH6160.

13Because of the wrathמִקֶּ֤צֶףmi.Ke.tzefH7110of the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068it shall not be inhabitedתֵשֵׁ֔בte.ShevH3427,but it shall be wholly desolateשְׁמָמָ֖הshe.ma.MahH8077:every one that goethעֹבֵ֣ר'o.VerH5674by Babylonבָּבֶ֔לba.VelH894shall be astonishedיִשֹּׁ֥םyi.ShomH8074,and hissוְיִשְׁרֹ֖קve.yish.RokH8319at all her plaguesמַכּוֹתֶֽיהָ׃ma.ko.Tei.haH4347.

14Put yourselves in arrayעִרְכ֨וּ'ir.KhuH6186against Babylonבָּבֶ֤ל׀ba.VelH894round aboutסָבִיב֙sa.VivH5439:all ye that bendדֹּ֣רְכֵיDo.re.kheiH1869the bowקֶ֔שֶׁתKe.shetH7198,shootיְד֣וּye.DuH3034at her, spareתַּחְמְל֖וּtach.me.LuH2550no arrowsחֵ֑ץChetzH2671:for she hath sinnedחָטָֽאָה׃cha.Ta.'ahH2398against the Lordלַֽיהוָ֖הla.Yah.wehH3068.

15Shoutהָרִ֨יעוּha.Ri.'uH7321against her round aboutסָבִיב֙sa.VivH5439:she hath givenנָתְנָ֣הna.te.NahH5414her handיָדָ֔הּya.DahH3027:her foundationsאָשְׁיוֹתֶ֔יהָ'ash.vi.yo.tei.haH803are fallenנָֽפְלוּ֙na.fe.LuH5307,her wallsחֽוֹמוֹתֶ֑יהָcho.mo.Tei.haH2346are thrown downנֶהֶרְס֖וּne.her.SuH2040: for it isthe vengeanceנִקְמַ֨תnik.MatH5360of the Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068:take vengeanceהִנָּ֣קְמוּhi.Na.ke.muH5358upon her; as she hath doneעָשְׂתָ֖ה'a.se.TahH6213,doעֲשׂוּ־'a.su-H6213unto her.

16Cut offכִּרְת֤וּkir.TuH3772the sowerזוֹרֵ֙עַ֙zo.Re.a'H2232from Babylonמִבָּבֶ֔לmi.ba.VelH894,and him that handlethוְתֹפֵ֥שׂve.to.FesH8610the sickleמַגָּ֖לma.GalH4038in the timeבְּעֵ֣תbe.'EtH6256of harvestקָצִ֑ירka.TzirH7105:for fearמִפְּנֵי֙mi.pe.NeiH6440of the oppressingהַיּוֹנָ֔הhai.yo.NahH3238swordחֶ֣רֶבChe.revH2719they shall turnיִפְנ֔וּyif.NuH6437every oneאִ֤ישׁ'ishH376to his peopleעַמּוֹ֙a.MoH5971,and they shall fleeיָנֻֽסוּ׃ סya.Nu.suH5127every oneוְאִ֥ישׁve.'IshH376to his own landלְאַרְצ֖וֹle.'ar.TzoH776.

18Therefore thus saithאָמַ֞ר'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068of hostsצְבָאוֹת֙tze.va.'OtH6635,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478;Behold, I will punishפֹקֵ֛דfo.KedH6485the kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Babylonבָּבֶ֖לba.VelH894and his landאַרְצ֑וֹ'ar.TzoH776,as I have punishedפָּקַ֖דְתִּיpa.Kad.tiH6485the kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּֽׁוּר׃'a.ShurH804.

19And I will bringH7725Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478againH7725to his habitationנָוֵ֔הוּna.Ve.huH5116,and he shall feedוְרָעָ֥הve.ra.'AhH7462on Carmelהַכַּרְמֶ֖לha.kar.MelH3760and Bashanוְהַבָּשָׁ֑ןve.ha.ba.ShanH1316,and his soulנַפְשֽׁוֹ׃naf.ShoH5315shall be satisfiedתִּשְׂבַּ֥עtis.Ba'H7646upon mountוּבְהַ֥רu.ve.HarH2022Ephraimאֶפְרַ֛יִם'ef.Ra.yimH669and Gileadוְהַגִּלְעָ֖דve.ha.gil.'AdH1568.

20In those daysבַּיָּמִ֣יםbai.ya.MimH3117,and in that timeוּבָעֵ֨תu.va.'EtH6256,saithנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068,the iniquityעֲוֹ֤ן'a.VonH5771of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478shall be sought forיְבֻקַּ֞שׁye.vu.KashH1245, and there shall benone; and the sinsחַטֹּ֥אתcha.TotH2403of Judahיְהוּדָ֖הye.hu.DahH3063,and they shall not be foundתִמָּצֶ֑אינָהti.ma.Tze.nahH4672:for I will pardonאֶסְלַ֖ח'es.LachH5545them whom I reserveאַשְׁאִֽיר׃'ash.'IrH7604.

21Go upעֲלֵ֣ה'a.LehH5927against the landהָאָ֤רֶץha.'A.retzH776of Merathaimמְרָתַ֙יִם֙me.ra.Ta.yimH4850, evenagainst it, and against the inhabitantsיוֹשְׁבֵ֖יyo.she.VeiH3427of Pekodפְּק֑וֹדpe.KodH6489:wasteחֲרֹ֨בcha.RoH2717and utterly destroyוְהַחֲרֵ֤םve.ha.cha.RemH2763afterאַֽחֲרֵיהֶם֙'a.cha.rei.HemH310them, saithנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,and doוַעֲשֵׂ֕הva.'a.SehH6213according to all that I have commandedצִוִּיתִֽיךָ׃ סtzi.vi.Ti.khaH6680thee.

22A soundק֥וֹלKolH6963of battleמִלְחָמָ֖הmil.cha.MahH4421isin the landבָּאָ֑רֶץba.'A.retzH776,and of greatגָּדֽוֹל׃ga.DolH1419destructionוְשֶׁ֖בֶרve.She.verH7667.

23How is the hammerפַּטִּ֖ישׁpa.TishH6360of the whole earthהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776cut asunderנִגְדַּע֙nig.Da'H1438and brokenוַיִּשָּׁבֵ֔רvai.yi.sha.VerH7665!how is Babylonבָּבֶ֖לba.VelH894become a desolationלְשַׁמָּ֛הle.sha.MahH8047among the nationsבַּגּוֹיִֽם׃ba.go.YimH1471!

24I have laid a snareיָקֹ֨שְׁתִּיya.Ko.she.tiH3369for thee, and thou art also takenנִלְכַּדְתְּ֙nil.kadTH3920,O Babylonבָּבֶ֔לba.VelH894,and thou wast not awareיָדָ֑עַתְּya.Da.'atH3045:thou art foundנִמְצֵאת֙nim.tzeTH4672,and also caughtנִתְפַּ֔שְׂתְּnit.PastH8610,because thou hast strivenהִתְגָּרִֽית׃hit.ga.RitH1624against the Lordבַֽיהוָ֖הba.Yah.wehH3068.

25The Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068hath openedפָּתַ֤חpa.TachH6605his armouryא֣וֹצָר֔וֹ'o.tza.RoH214,and hath brought forthוַיּוֹצֵ֖אvai.yo.Tze'H3318the weaponsכְּלֵ֣יke.LeiH3627of his indignationזַעְמ֑וֹza'.MoH2195: for this isthe workמְלָאכָ֣הme.la.KhahH4399of the Lordלַֽאדֹנָ֧יla.do.NaiH136Godיְהוִ֛הYah.wehH3069of hostsצְבָא֖וֹתtze.va.'otH6635in the landבְּאֶ֥רֶץbe.'E.retzH776of the Chaldeansכַּשְׂדִּֽים׃kas.DimH3778.

26Comeבֹּֽאוּ־bo.'u-H935against her from the utmost borderמִקֵּץ֙mi.KetzH7093,openפִּתְח֣וּpit.ChuH6605her storehousesמַאֲבֻסֶ֔יהָma.'a.vu.Sei.haH3965:cast her upסָלּ֥וּהָsa.Lu.haH5549as heapsעֲרֵמִ֖ים'a.re.MimH6194,and destroy her utterlyוְהַחֲרִימ֑וּהָve.ha.cha.ri.Mu.haH2763:let nothing of her be leftשְׁאֵרִֽית׃she.'e.RitH7611.
