20And they went inוַיָּבֹ֤אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935to the kingהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428into the courtחָצֵ֔רָהcha.Tze.rahH2691,but they laid upהִפְקִ֔דוּhif.Ki.duH6485the rollהַמְּגִלָּ֣הha.me.gi.LahH4039in the chamberבְּלִשְׁכַּ֖תbe.lish.KatH3957of Elishamaאֱלִישָׁמָ֣ע'e.li.sha.Ma'H476the scribeהַסֹּפֵ֑רha.so.FerH5608,and toldוַיַּגִּ֙ידוּ֙vai.ya.Gi.duH5046all the wordsהַדְּבָרִֽים׃ha.de.va.RimH1697in the earsבְּאָזְנֵ֣יbe.'a.ze.NeiH241of the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428.
21So the kingהַמֶּ֜לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֨חvai.yish.LachH7971Jehudiיְהוּדִ֗יye.hu.DiH3065to fetchלָקַ֙חַת֙la.Ka.chatH3947the rollהַמְּגִלָּ֔הha.me.gi.LahH4039:and he tookוַיִּ֨קָּחֶ֔הָvai.Yi.ka.Che.haH3947it out of Elishamaאֱלִישָׁמָ֣ע'e.li.sha.Ma'H476the scribe’sהַסֹּפֵ֑רha.so.FerH5608chamberמִלִּשְׁכַּ֖תmi.lish.KatH3957.And Jehudiיְהוּדִי֙ye.hu.DiH3065readוַיִּקְרָאֶ֤הָvai.yik.ra.'E.haH7121it in the earsבְּאָזְנֵ֣יbe.'a.ze.NeiH241of the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,and in the earsוּבְאָזְנֵי֙u.ve.'a.ze.NeiH241of all the princesהַשָּׂרִ֔יםha.sa.RimH8269which stoodהָעֹמְדִ֖יםha.'o.me.DimH5975besideמֵעַ֥לme.'AlH5921the kingהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428.
22Now the kingוְהַמֶּ֗לֶךְve.ha.Me.lekhH4428satיוֹשֵׁב֙yo.ShevH3427in the winterhouseבֵּ֣ית הַחֹ֔רֶףbeit ha.Cho.refH2779H1004in the ninthהַתְּשִׁיעִ֑יha.te.shi.'IH8671monthבַּחֹ֖דֶשׁba.Cho.deshH2320: and there was a fireon the hearthהָאָ֖חha.'AchH254burningמְבֹעָֽרֶת׃me.vo.'A.retH1197beforeלְפָנָ֥יוle.fa.NavH6440him.
23And it came to pass, thatwhen Jehudiיְהוּדִ֗יye.hu.DiH3065had readכִּקְר֣וֹאkik.Ro'H7121threeשָׁלֹ֣שׁsha.LoshH7969or fourוְאַרְבָּעָה֒ve.'ar.ba.'AhH702leavesדְּלָתוֹת֮de.la.tOtH1817,he cutיִֽקְרָעֶ֙הָ֙yik.ra.'E.haH7167it with the penknifeבְּתַ֣עַר הַסֹּפֵ֔רbe.Ta.'ar ha.so.FerH5608H8593,and castוְהַשְׁלֵ֕ךְve.hash.LekhH7993itinto the fireהָאֵ֖שׁha.'EshH784that wason the hearthהָאָ֑חha.'AchH254,until all the rollהַמְּגִלָּ֔הha.me.gi.LahH4039was consumedתֹּם֙tomH8552in the fireהָאֵ֖שׁha.'EshH784that wason the hearthהָאָֽח׃ha.'AchH254.
25Nevertheless Elnathanאֶלְנָתָ֨ן'el.na.TanH494and Delaiahוּדְלָיָ֤הוּu.de.la.Ya.huH1806and Gemariahוּגְמַרְיָ֙הוּ֙u.ge.mar.Ya.huH1587had made intercessionהִפְגִּ֣עוּhif.Gi.'uH6293to the kingבַמֶּ֔לֶךְva.Me.lekhH4428that he would not burnשְׂרֹ֖ףse.RofH8313the rollהַמְּגִלָּ֑הha.me.gi.LahH4039:but he would not hearשָׁמַ֖עsha.Ma'H8085them.
