8This isthe wordהַדָּבָ֛רha.da.VarH1697that came unto Jeremiahיִרְמְיָ֖הוּyir.me.Ya.huH3414from the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068,afterאַחֲרֵ֡י'a.cha.ReiH310that the kingהַמֶּ֨לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Zedekiahצִדְקִיָּ֜הוּtzid.ki.Ya.huH6667had madeכְּרֹת֩ke.RotH3772a covenantבְּרִ֗יתbe.RitH1285with all the peopleהָעָם֙ha.'AmH5971which wereat Jerusalemבִּירֽוּשָׁלִַ֔םbi.ru.sha.LimH3389,to proclaimלִקְרֹ֥אlik.Ro'H7121libertyדְּרֽוֹר׃de.RorH1865unto them;

9That every manH376should let his manservantעַבְדּ֞וֹav.DoH5650,and every manH376his maidservantשִׁפְחָת֛וֹshif.cha.ToH8198, beingan Hebrewהָעִבְרִ֥יha.'iv.RiH5680or an Hebrewessוְהָעִבְרִיָּ֖הve.ha.'iv.ri.YahH5680,goלְ֠שַׁלַּחLe.sha.lachH7971freeחָפְשִׁ֑יםcha.fe.ShimH2670;that none should serveעֲבָד־'a.vod-H5647himself of them, to wit,of a Jewבִּיהוּדִ֥יbi.hu.DiH3064his brotherאָחִ֖יהוּ'a.Chi.huH251.

10Now when all the princesהַשָּׂרִ֨יםha.sa.RimH8269,and all the peopleהָעָ֜םha.'AmH5971,which had enteredבָּ֣אוּBa.'uH935into the covenantבַבְּרִ֗יתva.be.RitH1285,heardוַיִּשְׁמְעוּ֩vai.yish.me.'UH8085that every oneאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376should let his manservantעַבְדּ֞וֹav.DoH5650,and every oneוְאִ֤ישׁve.'IshH376his maidservantשִׁפְחָתוֹ֙shif.cha.ToH8198,goלְ֠שַׁלַּחLe.sha.lachH7971freeחָפְשִׁ֔יםcha.fe.ShimH2670,that none should serveעֲבָד־'a.vod-H5647themselves of them any more, then they obeyedוַֽיִּשְׁמְע֖וּvai.yish.me.'UH8085, and let themgoוַיְשַׁלֵּֽחוּ׃vay.sha.Le.chuH7971.

11But afterwardאַחֲרֵי־'a.cha.rei-H310they turnedוַיָּשׁ֙וּבוּ֙vai.ya.Shu.vuH7725,and caused the servantsהָֽעֲבָדִים֙ha.'a.va.DimH5650and the handmaidsהַשְּׁפָח֔וֹתha.she.fa.ChotH8198,whom they had let goשִׁלְּח֖וּshi.le.ChuH7971freeחָפְשִׁ֑יםcha.fe.ShimH2670,to returnוַיָּשִׁ֗בוּvai.ya.Shi.vuH7725,and brought them into subjectionוַֽיִּכְבְּשׁ֔וּםvai.yakh.bi.shumH3533for servantsלַעֲבָדִ֖יםla.'a.va.DimH5650and for handmaidsוְלִשְׁפָחֽוֹת׃ סve.lish.fa.ChotH8198.

12Therefore the wordדְבַר־de.var-H1697of the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068came to Jeremiahיִרְמְיָ֔הוּyir.me.Ya.huH3414from the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068,sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

13Thus saithאָמַ֥ר'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478;I madeכָּרַ֤תִּֽיka.Ra.tiH3772a covenantבְרִית֙ve.RitH1285with your fathersאֲב֣וֹתֵיכֶ֔ם'a.Vo.tei.KhemH1in the dayבְּי֨וֹםbe.YomH3117that I brought them forthהוֹצִאִ֤יho.tzi.'IH3318out of the landמֵאֶ֣רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714,out of the houseמִבֵּ֥יתmi.BeitH1004of bondmenעֲבָדִ֖ים'a.va.DimH5650,sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

14At the endמִקֵּ֣ץmi.KetzH7093of sevenשֶׁ֣בַעShe.va'H7651yearsשָׁנִ֡יםsha.NimH8141let ye goתְּֽשַׁלְּח֡וּte.sha.le.ChuH7971every manאִישׁ֩'ishH376his brotherאָחִ֨יו'a.ChivH251an Hebrewהָעִבְרִ֜יha.'iv.RiH5680,which hath been soldיִמָּכֵ֣רyi.ma.KherH4376unto thee; and when he hath servedוַעֲבָֽדְךָ֙va.'a.va.de.KhaH5647thee sixשֵׁ֣שׁsheshH8337yearsשָׁנִ֔יםsha.NimH8141,thou shalt let him goוְשִׁלַּחְתּ֥וֹve.shi.lach.ToH7971freeחָפְשִׁ֖יcha.fe.ShiH2670from thee: but your fathersאֲבֽוֹתֵיכֶם֙'a.vo.tei.KhemH1hearkenedשָׁמְע֤וּsha.me.'UH8085not unto me, neither inclinedהִטּ֖וּhi.TuH5186their earאָזְנָֽם׃'a.ze.NamH241.

15And ye were nowהַיּ֗וֹםhai.YomH3117turnedוַתָּשֻׁ֨בוּva.ta.Shu.vuH7725,and had doneוַתַּעֲשׂ֤וּva.ta.'a.SuH6213rightהַיָּשָׁר֙hai.ya.SharH3477in my sightבְּעֵינַ֔יbe.'ei.NaiH5869,in proclaimingלִקְרֹ֥אlik.Ro'H7121libertyדְר֖וֹרde.RorH1865every manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376to his neighbourלְרֵעֵ֑הוּle.re.'E.huH7453;and ye had madeוַתִּכְרְת֤וּva.tikh.re.TuH3772a covenantבְרִית֙ve.RitH1285beforeלְפָנַ֔יle.fa.NaiH6440me in the houseבַּבַּ֕יִתba.Ba.yitH1004which is calledנִקְרָ֥אnik.Ra'H7121by my nameשְׁמִ֖יshe.MiH8034:

16But ye turnedוַתָּשֻׁ֙בוּ֙va.ta.Shu.vuH7725and pollutedוַתְּחַלְּל֣וּva.te.cha.le.LuH2490my nameשְׁמִ֔יshe.MiH8034,and caused every manאִ֤ישׁ'ishH376his servantעַבְדּוֹ֙av.DoH5650,and every manוְאִ֣ישׁve.'IshH376his handmaidשִׁפְחָת֔וֹshif.cha.ToH8198,whom ye had setשִׁלַּחְתֶּ֥םshi.lach.TemH7971at libertyחָפְשִׁ֖יםcha.fe.ShimH2670at their pleasureלְנַפְשָׁ֑םle.naf.ShamH5315,to returnוַתָּשִׁ֗בוּva.ta.Shi.vuH7725,and brought them into subjectionוַתִּכְבְּשׁ֣וּva.tikh.be.ShuH3533,to be unto you for servantsלַעֲבָדִ֖יםla.'a.va.DimH5650and for handmaidsוְלִשְׁפָחֽוֹת׃ סve.lish.fa.ChotH8198.

17Therefore thus saithאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָה֒Yah.wehH3068;Ye have not hearkenedשְׁמַעְתֶּ֣םshe.ma'.TemH8085unto me, in proclaimingלִקְרֹ֣אlik.Ro'H7121libertyדְר֔וֹרde.RorH1865,every oneאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376to his brotherלְאָחִ֖יוle.'a.ChivH251,and every manוְאִ֣ישׁve.'IshH376to his neighbourלְרֵעֵ֑הוּle.re.'E.huH7453:behold, I proclaimקֹרֵא֩ko.Re'H7121a libertyדְּר֜וֹרde.RorH1865for you, saithנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068,to the swordהַחֶ֙רֶב֙ha.Che.revH2719,to the pestilenceהַדֶּ֣בֶרha.De.verH1698,and to the famineהָרָעָ֔בha.ra.'AvH7458;and I will makeוְנָתַתִּ֤יve.na.ta.TiH5414you to be removedלְזַעֲוָ֔הliz.va.'ahH2113 H2189into all the kingdomsמַמְלְכ֥וֹתmam.le.KhotH4467of the earthהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776.
