1Now it came to pass upon a dayהַיּ֗וֹםhai.YomH3117,that Jonathanיוֹנָתָ֤ןyo.na.TanH3129the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Saulשָׁאוּל֙sha.'UlH7586saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto the young manהַנַּ֙עַר֙ha.Na.'arH5288that bareנֹשֵׂ֣אno.Se'H5375his armourכֵלָ֔יוkhe.LavH3627,ComeH3212,and let us go overוְנַעְבְּרָה֙ve.na'.be.RahH5674to the Philistines’פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔יםpe.lish.TimH6430garrisonמַצַּ֣בma.TzavH4673, that ison the other sideמֵעֵ֣בֶר הַלָּ֑זme.'E.ver ha.LazH1975H5676.But he toldהִגִּֽיד׃hi.GidH5046not his fatherוּלְאָבִ֖יוu.le.'a.VivH1.
2And Saulוְשָׁא֗וּלve.sha.'UlH7586tarriedיוֹשֵׁב֙yo.ShevH3427in the uttermostבִּקְצֵ֣הbik.TzehH7097part of Gibeahהַגִּבְעָ֔הha.giv.'AhH1390under a pomegranate treeהָרִמּ֖וֹןha.ri.MonH7416which isin Migronבְּמִגְר֑וֹןbe.mig.RonH4051:and the peopleוְהָעָם֙ve.ha.'AmH5971that were with him wereabout sixכְּשֵׁ֥שׁke.SheshH8337hundredמֵא֖וֹתme.'otH3967menאִֽישׁ׃'IshH376;
3And Ahiahוַאֲחִיָּ֣הva.'a.chi.YahH281,the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Ahitubאֲחִט֡וּב'a.chi.TuvH285,I–chabod’sאִיכָב֣וֹד׀'i.kha.VodH350brotherאֲחִ֡י'a.ChiH251,the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Phinehasפִּינְחָ֨סpin.ChasH6372,the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Eliעֵלִ֜י'e.LiH5941,the Lord’sיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068priestכֹּהֵ֧ן׀ko.HenH3548in Shilohבְּשִׁל֖וֹbe.shi.LoH7887,wearingנֹשֵׂ֣אno.Se'H5375an ephodאֵפ֑וֹד'e.FodH646.And the peopleוְהָעָם֙ve.ha.'AmH5971knewיָדַ֔עya.Da'H3045not that Jonathanיוֹנָתָֽן׃yo.na.TanH3129was goneהָלַ֖ךְha.LakhH1980.
4And between the passagesהַֽמַּעְבְּר֗וֹתha.ma'.be.RotH4569,by which Jonathanיֽוֹנָתָן֙yo.na.TanH3129soughtבִּקֵּ֤שׁbi.KeshH1245to go overלַֽעֲבֹר֙la.'a.VorH5674unto the Philistines’פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔יםpe.lish.TimH6430garrisonמַצַּ֣בma.TzavH4673, there wasa sharpשֵׁן־shen-H8127rockהַסֶּ֤לַעha.Se.la'H5553on the one sideמֵהָעֵ֙בֶר֙me.ha.'E.verH5676,and a sharpוְשֵׁן־ve.shen-H8127rockהַסֶּ֥לַעha.Se.la'H5553on the other sideמֵהָעֵ֖בֶרme.ha.'E.verH5676:and the nameוְשֵׁ֤םve.ShemH8034of the oneהָֽאֶחָד֙ha.'e.ChadH259wasBozezבּוֹצֵ֔ץbo.TzetzH949,and the nameוְשֵׁ֥םve.ShemH8034of the otherהָאֶחָ֖דha.'e.ChadH259Senehסֶֽנֶּה׃Se.nehH5573.
5The forefrontהַשֵּׁ֧ןha.ShenH8127of the oneהָאֶחָ֛דha.'e.ChadH259wassituateמָצ֥וּקma.TzukH4690northwardמִצָּפ֖וֹןmi.tza.FonH6828over againstמ֣וּלmulH4136Michmashמִכְמָ֑שׂmikh.MasH4363,and the otherוְהָאֶחָ֥דve.ha.'e.ChadH259southwardמִנֶּ֖גֶבmi.Ne.gevH5045over againstמ֥וּלmulH4136Gibeahגָּֽבַע׃ סGa.va'H1387.
6And Jonathanיְהוֹנָתָ֜ןye.ho.na.TanH3083saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the young manהַנַּ֣עַר׀ha.Na.'arH5288that bareנֹשֵׂ֣אno.Se'H5375his armourכֵלָ֗יוkhe.LavH3627,ComeH3212,and let us go overוְנַעְבְּרָ֗הve.na'.be.RahH5674unto the garrisonמַצַּב֙ma.TzavH4673of these uncircumcisedהָעֲרֵלִ֣יםha.'a.re.LimH6189:it may be that the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068will workיַעֲשֶׂ֥הya.'a.SehH6213for us: for there isno restraintמַעְצ֔וֹרma'.TzorH4622to the Lordלַֽיהוָה֙la.Yah.wehH3068to saveלְהוֹשִׁ֥יעַle.ho.Shi.a'H3467by manyבְּרַ֖בbe.RavH7227or by fewבִמְעָֽט׃vim.'AtH4592.
11And bothשְׁנֵיהֶ֔םshe.nei.HemH8147of them discoveredוַיִּגָּל֣וּvai.yi.ga.LuH1540themselves unto the garrisonמַצַּ֖בma.TzavH4673of the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֑יםpe.lish.TimH6430:and the Philistinesפְלִשְׁתִּ֔יםfe.lish.TimH6430saidוַיֹּאמְר֣וּvai.yo.me.RuH559,Behold, the Hebrewsעִבְרִים֙'iv.RimH5680come forthיֹֽצְאִ֔יםyo.tze.'ImH3318out of the holesהַחֹרִ֖יםha.cho.RimH2356where they had hidהִתְחַבְּאוּ־hit.cha.be.'u-H2244themselves.
12And the menאַנְשֵׁ֨י'an.SheiH582of the garrisonהַמַּצָּבָ֜הha.ma.tza.VahH4675answeredוַיַּעֲנוּ֩vai.ya.'a.NuH6030Jonathanיוֹנָתָ֣ן׀yo.na.TanH3129and his armourbearerנֹשֵׂ֣א כֵלָ֗יוno.Se' khe.LavH3627H5375,and saidוַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙vai.yo.me.RuH559,Come upעֲל֣וּ'a.LuH5927to us, and we will shewוְנוֹדִ֥יעָהve.no.Di.'ahH3045you a thingדָּבָ֑ר פda.VarH1697.And Jonathanיוֹנָתָ֜ןyo.na.TanH3129saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto his armourbearerנֹשֵׂ֤א כֵלָיו֙no.Se' khe.LavH3627H5375,Come upעֲלֵ֣ה'a.LehH5927afterאַחֲרַ֔י'a.cha.RaiH310me: for the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068hath deliveredנְתָנָ֥םne.ta.NamH5414them into the handבְּיַ֥דbe.YadH3027of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.
13And Jonathanיוֹנָתָ֗ןyo.na.TanH3129climbed upוַיַּ֣עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927upon his handsיָדָיו֙ya.DavH3027and upon his feetרַגְלָ֔יוrag.LavH7272,and his armourbearerוְנֹשֵׂ֥א כֵלָ֖יוve.no.Se' khe.LavH3627H5375afterאַחֲרָ֑יו'a.cha.RavH310him: and they fellוַֽיִּפְּלוּ֙vai.yi.pe.LuH5307beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440Jonathanיוֹנָתָ֔ןyo.na.TanH3129;and his armourbearerוְנֹשֵׂ֥א כֵלָ֖יוve.no.Se' khe.LavH3627H5375slewמְמוֹתֵ֥תme.mo.TetH4191afterאַחֲרָֽיו׃'a.cha.RavH310him.
14And that firstהָרִאשֹׁנָ֗הha.ri.sho.NahH7223slaughterהַמַּכָּ֣הha.ma.KahH4347,which Jonathanיוֹנָתָ֛ןyo.na.TanH3129and his armourbearerוְנֹשֵׂ֥א כֵלָ֖יוve.no.Se' khe.LavH3627H5375madeהִכָּ֧הhi.KahH5221,was about twentyכְּעֶשְׂרִ֣יםke.'es.RimH6242menאִ֑ישׁ'IshH376,within as it were an halfכְּבַחֲצִ֥יke.va.cha.TziH2677acreמַעֲנָ֖הma.'a.NahH4618of landשָׂדֶֽה׃sa.DehH7704, whicha yokeצֶ֥מֶדTze.medH6776of oxen might plow.
15And there was tremblingחֲרָדָ֨הcha.ra.DahH2731in the hostבַמַּחֲנֶ֤הva.ma.cha.NehH4264,in the fieldבַשָּׂדֶה֙va.sa.DehH7704,and among all the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971:the garrisonהַמַּצָּב֙ha.ma.TzavH4673,and the spoilersוְהַמַּשְׁחִ֔יתve.ha.mash.ChitH7843,they also trembledחָרְד֖וּcha.re.DuH2729,and the earthהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776quakedוַתִּרְגַּ֣זva.tir.GazH7264:so it was a very greatאֱלֹהִֽים׃'E.lo.HimH430tremblingלְחֶרְדַּ֥תle.cher.DatH2731.
16And the watchmenהַצֹּפִים֙ha.tzo.FimH6822of Saulלְשָׁא֔וּלle.sha.'UlH7586in Gibeahבְּגִבְעַ֖תbe.giv.'AtH1390of Benjaminבִּנְיָמִ֑ןbin.ya.MinH1144lookedוַיִּרְא֤וּvai.yir.'UH7200;and, behold, the multitudeהֶהָמ֛וֹןhe.ha.MonH1995melted awayנָמ֖וֹגna.MogH4127,and they wentH3212on beating downH1986one another.
17Then saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559Saulשָׁא֗וּלsha.'UlH7586unto the peopleלָעָם֙la.'AmH5971that werewith him, Numberפִּקְדוּ־pik.du-H6485now, and seeוּרְא֔וּu.re.'UH7200who is goneהָלַ֣ךְha.LakhH1980from us. And when they had numberedוַֽיִּפְקְד֔וּvai.yif.ke.DuH6485,behold, Jonathanיוֹנָתָ֖ןyo.na.TanH3129and his armourbearerוְנֹשֵׂ֥א כֵלָֽיו׃ve.no.Se' khe.LavH3627H5375were not there.
18And Saulשָׁאוּל֙sha.'UlH7586saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto Ahiahלַֽאֲחִיָּ֔הla.'a.chi.YahH281,Bring hitherהַגִּ֖ישָׁהha.Gi.shahH5066the arkאֲר֣וֹן'a.RonH727of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֑יםha.'E.lo.HimH430.For the arkאֲר֧וֹן'a.RonH727of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֛יםha.'E.lo.HimH430was at that timeבַּיּ֥וֹםbai.YomH3117with the childrenוּבְנֵ֥יu.ve.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.
19And it came to pass, while Saulשָׁאוּל֙sha.'UlH7586talkedדִּבֶּ֤רdi.BerH1696unto the priestהַכֹּהֵ֔ןha.ko.HenH3548,that the noiseוְהֶהָמ֗וֹןve.he.ha.MonH1995that wasin the hostבְּמַחֲנֵ֣הbe.ma.cha.NehH4264of the Philistinesפְלִשְׁתִּ֔יםfe.lish.TimH6430wentH3212onH1980and increasedוָרָ֑ב פva.RavH7227:and Saulשָׁא֛וּלsha.'UlH7586saidוַיֹּ֧אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto the priestהַכֹּהֵ֖ןha.ko.HenH3548,Withdrawאֱסֹ֥ף'e.SofH622thine handיָדֶֽךָ׃ya.De.khaH3027.
20And Saulשָׁא֗וּלsha.'UlH7586and all the peopleהָעָם֙ha.'AmH5971that werewith him assembledוַיִּזָּעֵ֣קvai.yi.za.'EkH2199themselves, and they cameוַיָּבֹ֖אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935to the battleהַמִּלְחָמָ֑הha.mil.cha.MahH4421:and, behold, every man’sאִישׁ֙'ishH376swordחֶ֤רֶבChe.revH2719was against his fellowבְּרֵעֵ֔הוּbe.re.'E.huH7453, and there wasa veryמְאֹֽד׃me.'OdH3966greatגְּדוֹלָ֥הge.do.LahH1419discomfitureמְהוּמָ֖הme.hu.MahH4103.
21Moreover the Hebrewsוְהָעִבְרִ֗יםve.ha.'iv.RimH5680thatwere with the Philistinesלַפְּלִשְׁתִּים֙la.pe.lish.TimH6430beforeכְּאֶתְמ֣וֹלke.'et.MolH865that timeשִׁלְשׁ֔וֹםshil.ShomH8032,which went upעָל֥וּ'a.LuH5927with them into the campבַּֽמַּחֲנֶ֖הba.ma.cha.NehH4264from the countryround aboutסָבִ֑יבsa.VivH5439, even they also turnedto be with the Israelitesיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478that werewith Saulשָׁא֖וּלsha.'UlH7586and Jonathanוְיוֹנָתָֽן׃ve.yo.na.TanH3129.
22Likewise all the menאִ֨ישׁ'ishH376of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֜לYis.ra.'ElH3478which had hidהַמִּֽתְחַבְּאִ֤יםha.mit.cha.be.'ImH2244themselves in mountבְּהַר־be.har-H2022Ephraimאֶפְרַ֙יִם֙'ef.Ra.yimH669, whenthey heardשָֽׁמְע֔וּsha.me.'UH8085that the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֑יםpe.lish.TimH6430fledנָ֖סוּNa.suH5127,even they also followed hardוַֽיַּדְבְּק֥וּvai.yad.be.KuH1692afterאַחֲרֵיהֶ֖ם'a.cha.rei.HemH310them in the battleבַּמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ba.mil.cha.MahH4421.
