1Now the Philistinesוּפְלִשְׁתִּ֖יםu.fe.lish.TimH6430foughtנִלְחָמִ֣יםnil.cha.MimH3898against Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לbe.Yis.ra.'ElH3478:and the menאַנְשֵׁ֤י'an.SheiH582of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478fledוַיָּנֻ֜סוּvai.ya.Nu.suH5127from beforeמִפְּנֵ֣יmi.pe.NeiH6440the Philistinesפְלִשְׁתִּ֔יםfe.lish.TimH6430,and fell downוַיִּפְּל֥וּvai.yi.pe.LuH5307slainחֲלָלִ֖יםcha.la.LimH2491in mountבְּהַ֥רbe.HarH2022Gilboaהַגִּלְבֹּֽעַ׃ha.gil.Bo.a'H1533.

2And the Philistinesפְלִשְׁתִּ֔יםfe.lish.TimH6430followed hardוַיַּדְבְּק֣וּvai.yad.be.KuH1692upon Saulשָׁא֖וּלsha.'UlH7586and upon his sonsבָּנָ֑יוba.NavH1121;and the Philistinesפְלִשְׁתִּ֗יםfe.lish.TimH6430slewוַיַּכּ֣וּvai.ya.KuH5221Jonathanיְהוֹנָתָ֧ןye.ho.na.TanH3083,and Abinadabאֲבִינָדָ֛ב'a.vi.na.DavH41,and Malchi–shuaH4444,Saul’sשָׁאֽוּל׃sha.'UlH7586sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121.

3And the battleהַמִּלְחָמָה֙ha.mil.cha.MahH4421went soreוַתִּכְבַּ֤דva.tikh.BadH3513against Saulשָׁא֔וּלsha.'UlH7586,and the archersהַמּוֹרִ֖יםha.mo.RimH7198 H582 H3384hitוַיִּמְצָאֻ֥הוּvai.yim.tza.'U.huH4672him; and he was soreמְאֹ֖דme.'OdH3966woundedוַיָּ֥חֶלvai.Ya.chelH2342of the archersמֵהַמּוֹרִֽים׃me.ha.mo.RimH7198 H582 H3384.

4Then saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559Saulשָׁאוּל֩sha.'UlH7586unto his armourbearerלְנֹשֵׂ֨א כֵלָ֜יוle.no.Se' khe.LavH3627 H5375,Drawשְׁלֹ֥ףshe.LofH8025thy swordחַרְבְּךָ֣׀char.be.KhaH2719,and thrust me throughוְדָקְרֵ֣נִיve.da.ke.Re.niH1856therewith; lest these uncircumcisedהָעֲרֵלִ֨יםha.'a.re.LimH6189comeיָ֠בוֹאוּYa.vo.'uH935and thrust me throughוּדְקָרֻ֙נִי֙u.de.ka.Ru.niH1856,and abuseוְהִתְעַלְּלוּ־ve.hit.'a.le.lu-H5953me. But his armourbearerנֹשֵׂ֣א כֵלָ֔יוno.Se' khe.LavH3627 H5375wouldאָבָה֙'a.VahH14not; for he was soreמְאֹ֑דme.'OdH3966afraidיָרֵ֖אya.Re'H3372.Therefore Saulשָׁאוּל֙sha.'UlH7586tookוַיִּקַּ֤חvai.yi.KachH3947a swordהַחֶ֔רֶבha.Che.revH2719,and fellוַיִּפֹּ֖לvai.yi.PolH5307upon it.

5And when his armourbearerנֹשֵֽׂא־ כֵלָ֖יוno.se'- khe.LavH3627 H5375sawוַיַּ֥רְאvai.Yar'H7200that Saulשָׁא֑וּלsha.'UlH7586was deadמֵ֣תmetH4191,he fellוַיִּפֹּ֥לvai.yi.PolH5307likewise upon his swordחַרְבּ֖וֹchar.BoH2719,and diedוַיָּ֥מָתvai.Ya.motH4191with him.

6So Saulשָׁא֡וּלsha.'UlH7586diedוַיָּ֣מָתvai.Ya.motH4191,and his threeוּשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁתu.she.Lo.shetH7969sonsבָּנָיו֩ba.NavH1121,and his armourbearerוְנֹשֵׂ֨א כֵלָ֜יוve.no.Se' khe.LavH3627 H5375,and all his menאֲנָשָׁ֛יו'a.na.ShavH582,that same dayבַּיּ֥וֹםbai.YomH3117togetherיַחְדָּֽו׃yach.DavH3162.

7And when the menאַנְשֵֽׁי־'an.shei-H582of Israelיִ֠שְׂרָאֵלYis.ra.'elH3478that wereon the other sideבְּעֵ֨בֶרbe.'E.verH5676of the valleyהָעֵ֜מֶקha.'E.mekH6010, and they that wereon the other sideבְּעֵ֣בֶרbe.'E.verH5676Jordanהַיַּרְדֵּ֗ןhai.yar.DenH3383,sawוַיִּרְא֣וּvai.yir.'UH7200that the menאַנְשֵׁ֣י'an.SheiH582of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478fledנָ֙סוּ֙na.suH5127,and that Saulשָׁא֣וּלsha.'UlH7586and his sonsוּבָנָ֑יוu.va.NavH1121were deadמֵ֖תוּMe.tuH4191,they forsookוַיַּעַזְב֤וּvai.ya.'az.VuH5800the citiesהֶֽעָרִים֙he.'a.RimH5892,and fledוַיָּנֻ֔סוּvai.ya.Nu.suH5127;and the Philistinesפְלִשְׁתִּ֔יםfe.lish.TimH6430cameוַיָּבֹ֣אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935and dweltוַיֵּֽשְׁב֖וּvai.ye.she.VuH3427in them.

8And it came to pass on the morrowמִֽמָּחֳרָ֔תmi.mo.cho.RatH4283,when the Philistinesפְלִשְׁתִּ֔יםfe.lish.TimH6430cameוַיָּבֹ֣אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935to stripלְפַשֵּׁ֖טle.fa.ShetH6584the slainהַחֲלָלִ֑יםha.cha.la.LimH2491,that they foundוַֽיִּמְצְא֤וּvai.yim.tze.'UH4672Saulשָׁאוּל֙sha.'UlH7586and his threeשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁתshe.Lo.shetH7969sonsבָּנָ֔יוba.NavH1121fallenנֹפְלִ֖יםno.fe.LimH5307in mountבְּהַ֥רbe.HarH2022Gilboaהַגִּלְבֹּֽעַ׃ha.gil.Bo.a'H1533.

9And they cut offוַֽיִּכְרְתוּ֙vai.yikh.re.TuH3772his headרֹאשׁ֔וֹro.ShoH7218,and stripped offוַיַּפְשִׁ֖יטוּvai.yaf.Shi.tuH6584his armourכֵּלָ֑יוke.LavH3627,and sentוַיְשַׁלְּח֨וּvay.sha.le.ChuH7971into the landבְאֶֽרֶץ־ve.'e.retz-H776of the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֜יםpe.lish.TimH6430round aboutסָבִ֗יבsa.VivH5439,to publishלְבַשֵּׂ֛רle.va.SerH1319it inthe houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of their idolsעֲצַבֵּיהֶ֖ם'a.tza.bei.HemH6091,and among the peopleהָעָֽם׃ha.'AmH5971.

10And they putוַיָּשִׂ֙מוּ֙vai.ya.Si.muH7760his armourכֵּלָ֔יוke.LavH3627in the houseבֵּ֖יתbeitH1004of Ashtarothעַשְׁתָּר֑וֹתash.ta.RotH1045 H6252:and they fastenedתָּקְע֔וּta.ke.'UH8628his bodyגְּוִיָּתוֹ֙ge.vi.ya.ToH1472to the wallבְּחוֹמַ֖תbe.cho.MatH2346of Beth–shanH1052.

11And when the inhabitantsיֹשְׁבֵ֖יyo.she.VeiH3427of Jabesh–gileadיָבֵ֣ישׁ גִּלְעָ֑דya.Veish gil.'AdH1568 H3003heardוַיִּשְׁמְע֣וּvai.yish.me.'UH8085of that which the Philistinesפְלִשְׁתִּ֖יםfe.lish.TimH6430had doneעָשׂ֥וּ'a.SuH6213to Saulלְשָׁאֽוּל׃le.sha.'UlH7586;

12All the valiantחַיִל֮cha.YilH2428menאִ֣ישׁ'ishH381 H376aroseוַיָּק֜וּמוּvai.ya.Ku.muH6965,and wentH3212all nightהַלַּיְלָה֒ha.lay.LahH3915,and tookוַיִּקְח֞וּvai.yik.ChuH3947the bodyגְּוִיַּ֣תge.vi.YatH1472of Saulשָׁא֗וּלsha.'UlH7586and the bodiesגְּוִיֹּ֣תge.vi.YotH1472of his sonsבָּנָ֔יוba.NavH1121from the wallמֵחוֹמַ֖תme.cho.MatH2346of Beth–shanH1052,and cameוַיָּבֹ֣אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935to Jabeshיָבֵ֔שָׁהya.Ve.shahH3003,and burntוַיִּשְׂרְפ֥וּvai.yis.re.FuH8313them there.

13And they tookוַיִּקְחוּ֙vai.yik.ChuH3947their bonesעַצְמֹ֣תֵיהֶ֔ם'atz.Mo.tei.HemH6106,and buriedוַיִּקְבְּר֥וּvai.yik.be.RuH6912themunder a treeהָאֶ֖שֶׁלha.'E.shelH815at Jabeshבְּיָבֵ֑שָׁהbe.ya.Ve.shahH3003,and fastedוַיָּצֻ֖מוּvai.ya.Tzu.muH6684sevenשִׁבְעַ֥תshiv.'AtH7651daysיָמִֽים׃ פya.MimH3117.
