2When the Philistinesפְלִשְׁתִּים֙fe.lish.TimH6430tookוַיִּקְח֤וּvai.yik.ChuH3947the arkאֲר֣וֹן'a.RonH727of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,they broughtוַיָּבִ֥יאוּvai.ya.Vi.'uH935it into the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Dagonדָּג֑וֹןda.GonH1712,and setוַיַּצִּ֥יגוּvai.ya.Tzi.guH3322it byאֵ֥צֶל'E.tzelH681Dagonדָּגֽוֹן׃da.GonH1712.
3And when they of Ashdodאַשְׁדּוֹדִים֙'ash.do.DimH796arose earlyוַיַּשְׁכִּ֤מוּvai.yash.Ki.muH7925on the morrowמִֽמָּחֳרָ֔תmi.mo.cho.RatH4283,behold, Dagonדָג֗וֹןda.GonH1712wasfallenנֹפֵ֤לno.FelH5307upon his faceלְפָנָיו֙le.fa.NavH6440to the earthאַ֔רְצָה'Ar.tzahH776beforeלִפְנֵ֖יlif.NeiH6440the arkאֲר֣וֹן'a.RonH727of the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068.And they tookוַיִּקְחוּ֙vai.yik.ChuH3947Dagonדָּג֔וֹןda.GonH1712,and setH7725him in his placeלִמְקוֹמֽוֹ׃lim.ko.MoH4725againH7725.
4And when they arose earlyוַיַּשְׁכִּ֣מוּvai.yash.Ki.muH7925on the morrowמִֽמָּחֳרָת֒mi.mo.cho.RatH4283morningבַבֹּקֶר֮va.bo.KerH1242,behold, Dagonדָג֗וֹןda.GonH1712wasfallenנֹפֵ֤לno.FelH5307upon his faceלְפָנָיו֙le.fa.NavH6440to the groundאַ֔רְצָה'Ar.tzahH776beforeלִפְנֵ֖יlif.NeiH6440the arkאֲר֣וֹן'a.RonH727of the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068;and the headוְרֹ֨אשׁve.RoshH7218of Dagonדָּג֜וֹןda.GonH1712and bothוּשְׁתֵּ֣י׀u.she.TeiH8147the palmsכַּפּ֣וֹתka.PotH3709of his handsיָדָ֗יוya.DavH3027werecut offכְּרֻתוֹת֙ke.ru.tOtH3772upon the thresholdהַמִּפְתָּ֔ןha.mif.TanH4670; only the stump ofDagonדָּג֖וֹןda.GonH1712was leftנִשְׁאַ֥רnish.'ArH7604to him.
5Therefore neither the priestsכֹהֲנֵ֨יkho.ha.NeiH3548of Dagonדָג֜וֹןda.GonH1712,nor any that comeהַבָּאִ֧יםha.ba.'ImH935into Dagon’sדָּג֛וֹןda.GonH1712houseבֵּית־beit-H1004,treadיִדְרְכוּ֩yid.re.KhuH1869on the thresholdמִפְתַּ֥ןmif.TanH4670of Dagonדָּג֖וֹןda.GonH1712in Ashdodבְּאַשְׁדּ֑וֹדbe.'ash.DodH795unto this dayהַיּ֥וֹםhai.YomH3117.
6But the handיַד־yad-H3027of the Lordיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068was heavyוַתִּכְבַּ֧דva.tikh.BadH3513upon them of Ashdodהָאַשְׁדּוֹדִ֖יםha.'ash.do.DimH796,and he destroyedוַיְשִׁמֵּ֑םvay.shi.MemH8074them, and smoteוַיַּ֤ךְvai.YakhH5221them with emerodsבַּטְּחֹרִ֔יםbat.cho.RimH6076H2914, evenAshdodאַשְׁדּ֖וֹד'ash.DodH795and the coastsגְּבוּלֶֽיהָ׃ge.vu.Lei.haH1366thereof.
7And when the menאַנְשֵֽׁי־'an.shei-H582of Ashdodאַשְׁדּ֖וֹד'ash.DodH795sawוַיִּרְא֥וּvai.yir.'UH7200that it wasso, they saidוְאָמְר֗וּve.'a.me.RuH559,The arkאֲר֨וֹן'a.RonH727of the Godאֱלֹהֵ֤י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478shall not abideיֵשֵׁ֞בye.ShevH3427with us: for his handיָדוֹ֙ya.DoH3027is soreקָשְׁתָ֤הka.she.TahH7185upon us, and upon Dagonדָּג֥וֹןda.GonH1712our godאֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃'e.lo.Hei.nuH430.
8They sentוַיִּשְׁלְח֡וּvai.yish.le.ChuH7971therefore and gatheredוַיַּאַסְפוּ֩vai.ya.'as.FuH622all the lordsסַרְנֵ֨יsar.NeiH5633of the Philistinesפְלִשְׁתִּ֜יםfe.lish.TimH6430unto them, and saidוַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙vai.yo.me.RuH559,What shall we doנַּעֲשֶׂ֗הna.'a.SehH6213with the arkלַֽאֲרוֹן֙la.'a.rOnH727of the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478?And they answeredוַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּvai.Yo.me.RuH559,Let the arkאֲר֖וֹן'a.RonH727of the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478be carried aboutH5437unto Gathגַּ֣תgatH1661.And they carriedH5437the arkאֲר֖וֹן'a.RonH727of the Godאֱלֹהֵ֥י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ סYis.ra.'ElH3478aboutH5437thither.
9And it was so,that, afterאַחֲרֵ֣י׀'a.cha.ReiH310they had carried it aboutהֵסַ֣בּוּhe.Sa.buH5437,the handיַד־yad-H3027of the Lordיְהוָ֤ה׀Yah.wehH3068was against the cityבָּעִיר֙ba.'IrH5892with a veryמְאֹ֔דme.'OdH3966greatגְּדוֹלָ֣הge.do.LahH1419destructionמְהוּמָה֙me.hu.MahH4103:and he smoteוַיַּךְ֙vai.yaKhH5221the menאַנְשֵׁ֣י'an.SheiH582of the cityהָעִ֔ירha.'IrH5892,both smallמִקָּטֹ֖ןmi.ka.TonH6996and greatגָּד֑וֹלga.DolH1419,and they had emerodsטְחֹרִֽים׃o.fa.limH6076H2914in their secret partsוַיִּשָּׂתְר֥וּvai.yi.sa.te.RuH8368.
10Therefore they sentוַֽיְשַׁלְּח֛וּvay.sha.le.ChuH7971the arkאֲר֥וֹן'a.RonH727of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֖יםha.'E.lo.HimH430to Ekronעֶקְר֑וֹןek.RonH6138.And it came to pass, as the arkאֲר֤וֹן'a.RonH727of Godהָאֱלֹהִים֙ha.'E.lo.HimH430cameכְּב֨וֹאke.Vo'H935to Ekronעֶקְר֔וֹןek.RonH6138,that the Ekronitesהָֽעֶקְרֹנִ֜יםha.'ek.ro.NimH6139cried outוַיִּזְעֲק֨וּvai.yiz.'a.KuH2199,sayingלֵאמֹ֗רle.MorH559,They have brought aboutהֵסַ֤בּוּhe.Sa.buH5437the arkאֲרוֹן֙'a.rOnH727of the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478to us, to slayלַהֲמִיתֵ֖נִיla.ha.mi.Te.niH4191us and our peopleעַמִּֽי׃'a.MiH5971.
11So they sentוַיִּשְׁלְח֨וּvai.yish.le.ChuH7971and gathered togetherוַיַּאַסְפ֜וּvai.ya.'as.FuH622all the lordsסַרְנֵ֣יsar.NeiH5633of the Philistinesפְלִשְׁתִּ֗יםfe.lish.TimH6430,and saidוַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙vai.yo.me.RuH559,Send awayשַׁלְּח֞וּsha.le.ChuH7971the arkאֲר֨וֹן'a.RonH727of the Godאֱלֹהֵ֤י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478,and let it go againוְיָשֹׁ֣בve.ya.ShoH7725to his own placeלִמְקֹמ֔וֹlim.ko.MoH4725,that it slayיָמִ֥יתya.MitH4191us not, and our peopleעַמִּ֑י'a.MiH5971:for there was a deadlyמָ֙וֶת֙ma.vetH4194destructionמְהֽוּמַת־me.hu.mat-H4103throughout all the cityהָעִ֔ירha.'IrH5892;the handיַ֥דyadH3027of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֖יםha.'E.lo.HimH430was veryמְאֹ֛דme.'OdH3966heavyכָּבְדָ֥הka.ve.DahH3513there.
