1And Hannahחַנָּה֙cha.NahH2584prayedוַתִּתְפַּלֵּ֤לva.tit.pa.LelH6419,and saidוַתֹּאמַ֔רva.to.MarH559,My heartלִבִּי֙li.BiH3820rejoicethעָלַ֤ץ'a.LatzH5970in the Lordבַּֽיהוָ֔הba.Yah.wehH3068,mine hornקַרְנִ֖יkar.NiH7161is exaltedרָ֥מָהRa.mahH7311in the Lordבַּֽיהוָ֑הba.Yah.wehH3068:my mouthפִּי֙piH6310is enlargedרָ֤חַבRa.chavH7337over mine enemiesא֣וֹיְבַ֔י'oy.VaiH341;because I rejoiceשָׂמַ֖חְתִּיsa.Mach.tiH8055in thy salvationבִּישׁוּעָתֶֽךָ׃bi.shu.'a.Te.khaH3444.

2There isnone holyקָד֥וֹשׁka.Do.oshH6918as the Lordכַּיהוָ֖הka.Yah.wehH3068: for there isnone besideבִּלְתֶּ֑ךָbil.Te.khaH1115thee: neither is thereany rockצ֖וּרtzurH6697like our Godכֵּאלֹהֵֽינוּ׃ke.lo.Hei.nuH430.

3Talkתְדַבְּרוּ֙te.da.be.RuH1696no moreתַּרְבּ֤וּtar.BuH7235so exceedingגְּבֹהָ֣הge.vo.HahH1364proudlyגְבֹהָ֔הge.vo.HahH1364; let notarrogancyעָתָ֖ק'a.TakH6277comeיֵצֵ֥אye.Tze'H3318out of your mouthמִפִּיכֶ֑םmi.pi.KhemH6310:for the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068isa Godאֵ֤ל'elH410of knowledgeדֵּעוֹת֙de.'OtH1844,and by him actionsעֲלִלֽוֹת׃a.li.LotH5949are weighedנִתְכְּנ֖וּnit.ke.NuH8505.

4The bowsקֶ֥שֶׁתKe.shetH7198of the mighty menגִּבֹּרִ֖יםgi.bo.RimH1368arebrokenחַתִּ֑יםcha.TimH2844,and they that stumbledוְנִכְשָׁלִ֖יםve.nikh.sha.LimH3782are girdedאָ֥זְרוּ'A.ze.ruH247with strengthחָֽיִל׃Cha.yilH2428.

5They that werefullשְׂבֵעִ֤יםse.ve.'ImH7649have hired outנִשְׂכָּ֔רוּnis.Ka.ruH7936themselves for breadבַּלֶּ֙חֶם֙ba.Le.chemH3899; and they that werehungryוּרְעֵבִ֖יםu.re.'e.VimH7457ceasedחָדֵ֑לּוּcha.De.luH2308:so that the barrenעֲקָרָה֙'a.ka.RahH6135hath bornיָלְדָ֣הYal.dahH3205sevenשִׁבְעָ֔הshiv.'AhH7651;and she that hath manyוְרַבַּ֥תve.ra.BatH7227childrenבָּנִ֖יםba.NimH1121is waxed feebleאֻמְלָֽלָה׃'um.La.lahH535.

6The Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068killethמֵמִ֣יתme.MitH4191,and maketh aliveוּמְחַיֶּ֑הu.me.chai.YehH2421:he bringeth downמוֹרִ֥ידmo.RidH3381to the graveשְׁא֖וֹלshe.'olH7585,and bringeth upוַיָּֽעַל׃vai.Ya.'alH5927.

7The Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068maketh poorמוֹרִ֣ישׁmo.RishH3423,and maketh richוּמַעֲשִׁ֑ירu.ma.'a.ShirH6238:he bringeth lowמַשְׁפִּ֖ילmash.PilH8213,andאַף־'af-H637lifteth upמְרוֹמֵֽם׃me.ro.MemH7311.

8He raiseth upמֵקִ֨יםme.KimH6965the poorדָּ֗לDalH1800out of the dustמֵעָפָ֜רme.'a.FarH6083, andlifteth upיָרִ֣יםya.RimH7311the beggarאֶבְי֔וֹן'ev.YonH34from the dunghillמֵֽאַשְׁפֹּת֙me.'ash.PotH830,to setלְהוֹשִׁיב֙le.ho.ShivH3427themamong princesנְדִיבִ֔יםne.di.VimH5081,and to make them inheritיַנְחִלֵ֑םyan.chi.LemH5157the throneוְכִסֵּ֥אve.khi.Se'H3678of gloryכָב֖וֹדkha.VodH3519:for the pillarsמְצֻ֣קֵיme.Tzu.keiH4690of the earthאֶ֔רֶץ'E.retzH776arethe Lord’sלַֽיהוָה֙la.Yah.wehH3068,and he hath setוַיָּ֥שֶׁתvai.Ya.shetH7896the worldתֵּבֵֽל׃te.VelH8398upon them.

9He will keepיִשְׁמֹ֔רyish.MorH8104the feetרַגְלֵ֤יrag.LeiH7272of his saintsחֲסִידָיו֙cha.si.dovH2623,and the wickedוּרְשָׁעִ֖יםu.re.sha.'ImH7563shall be silentיִדָּ֑מּוּyi.Da.muH1826in darknessבַּחֹ֣שֶׁךְba.Cho.shekhH2822;for by strengthבְכֹ֖חַve.Kho.achH3581shall no manאִֽישׁ׃'IshH376prevailיִגְבַּר־yig.bar-H1396.

10The adversariesמְרִיבָ֗יוme.ri.vovH7378of the Lordיְהוָ֞הYah.wehH3068shall be broken to piecesH2865;out of heavenבַּשָּׁמַ֣יִםba.sha.Ma.yimH8064shall he thunderיַרְעֵ֔םyar.'EmH7481upon them: the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068shall judgeיָדִ֣יןya.DinH1777the endsאַפְסֵי־'af.sei-H657of the earthאָ֑רֶץ'A.retzH776;and he shall giveוְיִתֶּן־ve.yi.ten-H5414strengthעֹ֣ז'ozH5797unto his kingלְמַלְכּ֔וֹle.mal.KoH4428,and exaltוְיָרֵ֖םve.ya.RemH7311the hornקֶ֥רֶןKe.renH7161of his anointedמְשִׁיחֽוֹ׃ פme.shi.ChoH4899.

11And Elkanahאֶלְקָנָ֛ה'el.ka.NahH511wentH3212to Ramahהָרָמָ֖תָהha.ra.Ma.tahH7414to his houseבֵּית֑וֹbei.ToH1004.And the childוְהַנַּ֗עַרve.ha.Na.'arH5288didהָיָ֤הha.YahH1961ministerמְשָׁרֵת֙me.sha.RetH8334unto the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068beforeפְּנֵ֖יpe.NeiH6440Eliעֵלִ֥י'e.LiH5941the priestהַכֹּהֵֽן׃ha.ko.HenH3548.

12Now the sonsוּבְנֵ֥יu.ve.NeiH1121of Eliעֵלִ֖י'e.LiH5941weresonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Belialבְלִיָּ֑עַלve.li.Ya.'alH1100;they knewיָדְע֖וּya.de.'UH3045not the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

13And the priests’הַכֹּהֲנִ֖יםha.ko.ha.NimH3548customוּמִשְׁפַּ֥טu.mish.PatH4941with the peopleהָעָ֑םha.'AmH5971was, that,when any manאִ֞ישׁ'ishH376offeredזֹבֵ֣חַzo.Ve.achH2076sacrificeזֶ֗בַחZe.vachH2077,the priest’sהַכֹּהֵן֙ha.ko.HenH3548servantנַ֤עַרNa.'arH5288cameוּבָ֨אu.Va'H935,while the fleshהַבָּשָׂ֔רha.ba.SarH1320was in seethingכְּבַשֵּׁ֣לke.va.ShelH1310,with a fleshhookוְהַמַּזְלֵ֛גve.ha.maz.LegH4207of threeשְׁלֹ֥שׁ־she.Losh-H7969teethהַשִּׁנַּ֖יִםha.shi.Na.yimH8127in his handבְּיָדֽוֹ׃be.ya.DoH3027;

14And he struckוְהִכָּ֨הve.hi.KahH5221itinto the panבַכִּיּ֜וֹרva.ki.YorH3595,or kettleבַדּ֗וּדva.DudH1731,or caldronבַקַּלַּ֙חַת֙va.ka.La.chatH7037,or potבַפָּר֔וּרva.pa.RurH6517;all that the fleshhookהַמַּזְלֵ֔גha.maz.LegH4207brought upיַעֲלֶ֣הya.'a.LehH5927the priestהַכֹּהֵ֖ןha.ko.HenH3548tookיִקַּ֥חyi.KachH3947for himself. So they didיַעֲשׂ֣וּya.'a.SuH6213in Shilohבְּשִׁלֹֽה׃be.shi.LohH7887unto all the Israelitesיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478that cameהַבָּאִ֥יםha.ba.'ImH935thither.

15Also before they burntיַקְטִר֣וּןyak.ti.RunH6999the fatהַחֵלֶב֒ha.che.LevH2459,the priest’sהַכֹּהֵ֗ןha.ko.HenH3548servantנַ֣עַרNa.'arH5288cameוּבָ֣א׀u.Va'H935,and saidוְאָמַר֙ve.'a.MarH559to the manלָאִ֣ישׁla.'IshH376that sacrificedהַזֹּבֵ֔חַha.zo.Ve.achH2076,Giveתְּנָ֣הte.NahH5414fleshבָשָׂ֔רva.SarH1320to roastלִצְל֖וֹתlitz.LotH6740for the priestלַכֹּהֵ֑ןla.ko.HenH3548;for he will not haveיִקַּ֧חyi.KachH3947soddenמְבֻשָּׁ֖לme.vu.ShalH1310fleshבָּשָׂ֥רba.SarH1320of thee, but rawחָֽי׃ChaiH2416.

16And ifany manהָאִ֗ישׁha.'IshH376saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto him, Let them not failקַטֵּ֨רka.TerH6999to burnיַקְטִיר֤וּןyak.ti.RunH6999the fatהַחֵ֔לֶבha.Che.levH2459presentlyכַּיּוֹם֙kai.yOmH3117, and thentakeוְקַ֨ח־ve.Kach-H3947as muchas thy soulנַפְשֶׁ֑ךָnaf.She.khaH5315desirethתְּאַוֶּ֖הte.'a.VehH183;then he would answerוְאָמַ֥ר׀ve.'a.MarH559him, Nay;but thou shalt giveתִתֵּ֔ןti.TenH5414it menow: and if not, I will takeלָקַ֥חְתִּיla.Kach.tiH3947itby forceבְחָזְקָֽה׃ve.cha.ze.KahH2394.

17Wherefore the sinחַטַּ֧אתcha.TatH2403of the young menהַנְּעָרִ֛יםha.ne.'a.RimH5288was veryמְאֹ֖דme.'OdH3966greatגְּדוֹלָ֥הge.do.LahH1419beforeפְּנֵ֣יpe.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068:for menהָֽאֲנָשִׁ֔יםha.'a.na.ShimH582abhorredנִֽאֲצוּ֙ni.'a.TzuH5006the offeringמִנְחַ֥תmin.ChatH4503of the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

18But Samuelוּשְׁמוּאֵ֕לu.she.mu.'ElH8050ministeredמְשָׁרֵ֖תme.sha.RetH8334beforeפְּנֵ֣יpe.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068, beinga childנַ֕עַרNa.'arH5288,girdedחָג֖וּרcha.GurH2296with a linenבָּֽד׃BadH906ephodאֵפ֥וֹד'e.FodH646.

19Moreover his motherאִמּ֔וֹ'i.MoH517madeתַּעֲשֶׂה־ta.'a.seh-H6213him a littleקָטֹן֙ka.TonH6996coatוּמְעִ֤ילu.me.'IlH4598,and broughtוְהַעַלְתָ֥הve.ha.'al.TahH5927itto him from yearמִיָּמִ֣ים׀mi.ya.MimH3117to yearיָמִ֑ימָהya.Mi.mahH3117,when she came upבַּֽעֲלוֹתָהּ֙ba.'a.lo.TahH5927with her husbandאִישָׁ֔הּ'i.ShahH376to offerלִזְבֹּ֖חַliz.Bo.achH2076the yearlyהַיָּמִֽים׃hai.ya.MimH3117sacrificeזֶ֥בַחZe.vachH2077.

20And Eliעֵלִ֜י'e.LiH5941blessedוּבֵרַ֨ךְu.ve.RakhH1288Elkanahאֶלְקָנָ֣ה'el.ka.NahH511and his wifeאִשְׁתּ֗וֹ'ish.ToH802,and saidוְאָמַר֙ve.'a.MarH559,The Lordיְהוָ֨הYah.wehH3068giveיָשֵׂם֩ya.SemH7760thee seedזֶ֙רַע֙ze.ra'H2233of this womanהָאִשָּׁ֣הha.'i.ShahH802for the loanהַשְּׁאֵלָ֔הha.she.'e.LahH7596which is lentשָׁאַ֖לsha.'AlH7592to the Lordלַֽיהוָ֑הla.Yah.wehH3068.And they wentוְהָלְכ֖וּve.ha.le.KhuH1980unto their own homeלִמְקֹמֽוֹ׃lim.ko.MoH4725.

21Andכִּֽי־ki-H3588the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068visitedפָקַ֤דfa.KadH6485Hannahחַנָּ֔הcha.NahH2584,so that she conceivedוַתַּ֛הַרva.Ta.harH2029,and bareוַתֵּ֥לֶדva.Te.ledH3205threeשְׁלֹשָֽׁה־she.lo.shah-H7969sonsבָנִ֖יםva.NimH1121and twoוּשְׁתֵּ֣יu.she.TeiH8147daughtersבָנ֑וֹתva.NotH1323.And the childהַנַּ֥עַרha.Na.'arH5288Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֖לshe.mu.'ElH8050grewוַיִּגְדַּ֛לvai.yig.DalH1431beforeעִם־'im-H5973the Lordיְהוָֽה׃ סYah.wehH3068.

22Now Eliוְעֵלִ֖יve.'e.LiH5941was veryמְאֹ֑דme.'OdH3966oldזָקֵ֣ןza.KenH2204,and heardוְשָׁמַ֗עve.sha.Ma'H8085all that his sonsבָּנָיו֙ba.NavH1121didיַעֲשׂ֤וּןya.'a.SunH6213unto all Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478;and how they layיִשְׁכְּבוּן֙yish.ke.VunH7901with the womenהַנָּשִׁ֔יםha.na.ShimH802that assembledהַצֹּ֣בְא֔וֹתha.Tzoe.'otH6633atthe doorפֶּ֖תַחPe.tachH6607of the tabernacleאֹ֥הֶל'O.helH168of the congregationמוֹעֵֽד׃mo.'EdH4150.

23And he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto them, Why doתַעֲשׂ֖וּןta.'a.SunH6213ye such thingsכַּדְּבָרִ֣יםka.de.va.RimH1697?for I hearשֹׁמֵ֙עַ֙sho.Me.a'H8085of your evilרָעִ֔יםra.'ImH7451dealingsדִּבְרֵיכֶ֣םdiv.rei.KhemH1697by all this peopleהָעָ֥םha.'AmH5971.

24Nay, my sonsבָּנָ֑יba.NaiH1121; for it isno goodטוֹבָ֤הto.VahH2896reportהַשְּׁמֻעָה֙ha.she.mu.'AhH8052that I hearשֹׁמֵ֔עַsho.Me.a'H8085:ye make the Lord’sיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068peopleעַם־'am-H5971to transgressמַעֲבִרִ֖יםma.'a.vi.RimH5674.

25If one manאִ֤ישׁ'ishH376sinיֶחֱטָ֨אye.che.Ta'H2398against anotherלְאִישׁ֙le.'IshH376,the judgeאֱלֹהִ֔ים'E.lo.HimH430shall judgeוּפִֽלְל֣וֹu.fi.LoH6419him: but if a manאִ֔ישׁ'IshH376sinיֶֽחֱטָא־ye.che.ta'-H2398against the Lordלַֽיהוָה֙la.Yah.wehH3068,who shall intreatיִתְפַּלֶּל־yit.pa.lel-H6419for him? Notwithstanding they hearkenedיִשְׁמְעוּ֙yish.me.'UH8085not unto the voiceלְק֣וֹלle.KolH6963of their fatherאֲבִיהֶ֔ם'a.vi.HemH1,because the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068wouldחָפֵ֥ץcha.FetzH2654slayלַהֲמִיתָֽם׃la.ha.mi.TamH4191them.

26And the childוְהַנַּ֣עַרve.ha.Na.'arH5288Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֔לshe.mu.'ElH8050grewוְגָדֵ֖לve.ga.DelH1432onהֹלֵ֥ךְho.LekhH1980,and was in favourH2896both with the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,and also with menאֲנָשִֽׁים׃ ס'a.na.ShimH582.

27And there cameוַיָּבֹ֥אvai.ya.Vo'H935a manאִישׁ־'ish-H376of Godאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430unto Eliעֵלִ֑י'e.LiH5941,and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto him, Thus saithאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,Did I plainlyהֲנִגְלֹ֤הha.nig.LohH1540appearנִגְלֵ֙יתִי֙nig.Lei.tiH1540unto the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of thy fatherאָבִ֔יךָ'a.Vi.khaH1,when they were in Egyptבְּמִצְרַ֖יִםbe.mitz.Ra.yimH4714in Pharaoh’sפַּרְעֹֽה׃par.'OhH6547houseלְבֵ֥יתle.VeitH1004?

28And did I chooseוּבָחֹ֣רu.va.ChorH977him out of all the tribesשִׁבְטֵ֨יshiv.TeiH7626of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֥לYis.ra.'ElH3478to bemy priestלְכֹהֵ֔ןle.kho.HenH3548,to offerלַעֲל֣וֹתla.'a.LotH5927upon mine altarמִזְבְּחִ֗יmiz.be.ChiH4196,to burnלְהַקְטִ֥ירle.hak.TirH6999incenseקְטֹ֛רֶתke.To.retH7004,to wearלָשֵׂ֥אתla.SetH5375an ephodאֵפ֖וֹד'e.FodH646beforeלְפָנָ֑יle.fa.NaiH6440me? and did I giveוָֽאֶתְּנָה֙va.'e.te.NahH5414unto the houseלְבֵ֣יתle.VeitH1004of thy fatherאָבִ֔יךָ'a.Vi.khaH1all the offerings made by fireאִשֵּׁ֖י'i.SheiH801of the childrenבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478?

29Wherefore kickתִבְעֲט֗וּtiv.'a.TuH1163ye at my sacrificeבְּזִבְחִי֙be.ziv.ChiH2077and at mine offeringוּבְמִנְחָתִ֔יu.ve.min.cha.TiH4503,which I have commandedצִוִּ֖יתִיtzi.Vi.tiH6680in myhabitationמָע֑וֹןma.'onH4583;and honourestוַתְּכַבֵּ֤דva.te.kha.BedH3513thy sonsבָּנֶ֙יךָ֙ba.Nei.khaH1121above me, to make yourselves fatלְהַבְרִֽיאֲכֶ֗םle.hav.ri.'a.KhemH1254with the chiefestמֵרֵאשִׁ֛יתme.re.ShitH7225of all the offeringsמִנְחַ֥תmin.ChatH4503of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478my peopleלְעַמִּֽי׃le.'a.MiH5971?

30Wherefore the Lordיְהוָה֮Yah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֒Yis.ra.'ElH3478saithנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002,I saidאָמ֣וֹר'a.MorH559indeedאָמַ֔רְתִּי'a.Mar.tiH559thatthy houseבֵּֽיתְךָ֙bei.te.KhaH1004,and the houseוּבֵ֣יתu.VeitH1004of thy fatherאָבִ֔יךָ'a.Vi.khaH1,should walkיִתְהַלְּכ֥וּyit.ha.le.KhuH1980beforeלְפָנַ֖יle.fa.NaiH6440me forעַד־'ad-H5704everעוֹלָ֑םo.LamH5769:but now the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068saithנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002,Be it far from meחָלִ֣ילָהcha.Li.lahH2486;for them that honourמְכַבְּדַ֥יme.kha.be.DaiH3513me I will honourאֲכַבֵּ֖ד'a.kha.BedH3513,and they that despiseוּבֹזַ֥יu.vo.ZaiH959me shall be lightly esteemedיֵקָֽלּוּ׃ye.Ka.luH7043.

31Behold, the daysיָמִ֣יםya.MimH3117comeבָּאִ֔יםba.'ImH935,that I will cut offוְגָֽדַעְתִּי֙ve.ga.da'.TiH1438thine armזְרֹ֣עֲךָ֔ze.Ro.'a.khaH2220,and the armזְרֹ֖עַze.Ro.a'H2220of thy father’sאָבִ֑יךָ'a.Vi.khaH1houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004,that there shall not be an old manזָקֵ֖ןza.KenH2205in thine houseבְּבֵיתֶֽךָ׃be.vei.Te.khaH1004.

32And thou shalt seeוְהִבַּטְתָּ֙ve.hib.ba.TaH5027an enemyצַ֣רtzarH6862in myhabitationמָע֔וֹןma.'onH4583, in all the wealth which Godshall giveיֵיטִ֖יבyei.TivH3190Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478:and there shall not be an old manזָקֵ֛ןza.KenH2205in thine houseבְּבֵיתְךָ֖be.vei.te.KhaH1004for everהַיָּמִֽים׃hai.ya.MimH3117.

33And the manוְאִ֗ישׁve.'IshH376of thine, whomI shall not cut offאַכְרִ֤ית'akh.RitH3772from mine altarמִזְבְּחִ֔יmiz.be.ChiH4196, shall beto consumeלְכַלּ֥וֹתle.kha.LotH3615thine eyesעֵינֶ֖יךָ'ei.Nei.khaH5869,and to grieveוְלַאֲדִ֣יבve.la.'a.DivH109thine heartנַפְשֶׁ֑ךָnaf.She.khaH5315:and all the increaseמַרְבִּ֥יתmar.BitH4768of thine houseבֵּיתְךָ֖bei.te.KhaH1004shall dieיָמ֥וּתוּya.Mu.tuH4191in the flower of their ageאֲנָשִֽׁים׃'a.na.ShimH582.

34And this shall bea signהָא֗וֹתha.'otH226unto thee, that shall comeיָבֹא֙ya.Vo'H935upon thy twoשְׁנֵ֣יshe.NeiH8147sonsבָנֶ֔יךָva.Nei.khaH1121,on Hophniחָפְנִ֖יcha.fe.NiH2652and Phinehasוּפִֽינְחָ֑סu.fin.ChasH6372;in oneאֶחָ֖ד'e.ChadH259dayבְּי֥וֹםbe.YomH3117they shall dieיָמ֥וּתוּya.Mu.tuH4191bothשְׁנֵיהֶֽם׃she.nei.HemH8147of them.
