1 Chronicles 22:6-13
6Then David called forH7121 his sonH1121 SolomonH8010 and instructed himH6680 to buildH1129 a houseH1004 for the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478.
7“My sonH1121H589,” saidH559 DavidH1732 to SolomonH8010, “it wasH1961 inH5973 my heartH3824 to buildH1129 a houseH1004 for the NameH8034 of the LORDH3068 my GodH430, 8but this wordH1697 of the LORDH3068H559 cameH1961 to meH5921: ‘You have shedH8210 muchH7230 bloodH1818 and wagedH6213 greatH1419 warsH4421. You are notH3808 to buildH1129 a houseH1004 for My NameH8034 becauseH3588 you have shedH8210 so muchH7227 bloodH1818 on the groundH776 before MeH6440. 9ButH2009 a sonH1121 will be bornH3205 to you whoH1931 will beH1961 a manH376 of restH4496. I will give him restH5117 from allH3605 his enemiesH341 on every sideH5439; forH3588 his nameH8034 will beH1961 SolomonH8010,1 and I will grantH5414 toH5921 IsraelH3478 peaceH7965 and quietH8253 during his reignH3117. 10HeH1931 is the one who will buildH1129 a houseH1004 for My NameH8034. HeH1931 will beH1961 My sonH1121, and IH589 will be his FatherH1. And I will establishH3559 the throneH3678 of his kingdomH4438 overH5921 IsraelH3478 foreverH5704H5769.’
11NowH6258, my sonH1121, may the LORDH3068 beH1961 with youH5973, and may you succeedH6743 in buildingH1129 the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068 your GodH430, asH834 He saidH1696 you wouldH5921. 12Above allH389, may the LORDH3068 giveH5414 you insightH7922 and understandingH998 when He puts you in commandH6680 overH5921 IsraelH3478, so that you may keepH8104 the LawH8451 of the LORDH3068 your GodH430. 13ThenH227 you will succeedH6743, ifH518 you carefullyH8104 followH6213 the statutesH2706 and ordinancesH4941 thatH834 the LORDH3068 commandedH6680 MosesH4872 forH5921 IsraelH3478. Be strongH2388 and courageousH553. Do notH408 be afraidH3372H408 or discouragedH2865.
Notes
- 1. 1 Chronicles 22:9 Solomon sounds like and is probably derived from the Hebrew word for peace. ↩
