16So Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ye.ho.Shu.a'H3091arose earlyוַיַּשְׁכֵּ֤םvai.yash.KemH7925the next morningבַּבֹּ֔קֶרba.Bo.kerH1242and had Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478come forwardוַיַּקְרֵ֥בvai.yak.RevH7126אֶת־'et-H853tribe by tribeלִשְׁבָטָ֑יוlish.va.TavH7626,and the tribeשֵׁ֥בֶטShe.vetH7626of Judahיְהוּדָֽה׃ye.hu.DahH3063was selectedוַיִּלָּכֵ֖דvai.yi.la.KhedH3920.

17He had the clansמִשְׁפַּ֣חַתmish.Pa.chatH4940of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063come forwardוַיַּקְרֵב֙vai.yak.RevH7126אֶת־'et-H853,and the clanמִשְׁפַּ֣חַתmish.Pa.chatH4940of the Zerahitesהַזַּרְחִ֑יha.zar.ChiH2227was selectedוַיִּלְכֹּ֕דvai.yil.KodH3920אֵ֖ת'etH853.He had the clanמִשְׁפַּ֤חַתmish.Pa.chatH4940of the Zerahitesהַזַּרְחִי֙ha.zar.ChiH2227come forwardוַיַּקְרֵ֞בvai.yak.RevH7126אֶת־'et-H853,and the familyלַגְּבָרִ֔יםla.ge.va.RimH1397of Zabdiזַבְדִּֽי׃zav.DiH2067was selectedוַיִּלָּכֵ֖דvai.yi.la.KhedH3920.

18And he had the familyבֵּית֖וֹbei.ToH1004of Zabdicome forwardוַיַּקְרֵ֥בvai.yak.RevH7126אֶת־'et-H853man by manלַגְּבָרִ֑יםla.ge.va.RimH1397,and Achanעָכָ֞ן'a.KhanH5912sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Carmiכַּרְמִ֧יkar.MiH3756,the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Zabdiזַבְדִּ֛יzav.DiH2067,the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Zerahזֶ֖רַחZe.rachH2226,of the tribeלְמַטֵּ֥הle.ma.TehH4294of Judahיְהוּדָֽה׃ye.hu.DahH3063,was selectedוַיִּלָּכֵ֗דvai.yi.la.KhedH3920.

19So Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Achanעָכָ֗ן'a.KhanH5912, “My sonבְּנִי֙be.NiH1121,giveשִֽׂים־sim-H7760gloryכָב֗וֹדkha.VodH3519to the LORDלַֽיהוָ֛הla.Yah.wehH3068,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֥י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and makeוְתֶן־ve.ten-H5414a confessionתוֹדָ֑הto.DahH8426to Him.I urge youנָ֣אna'H4994to tellוְהַגֶּד־ נָ֥אve.ha.ged- na'H5046 H4994mewhatמֶ֣הmehH4100you have doneעָשִׂ֔יתָ'a.Si.taH6213;do notאַל־'al-H408hideתְּכַחֵ֖דte.kha.ChedH3582itfrom meמִמֶּֽנִּי׃mi.Me.niH4480.”

21When I sawוָאֵ֣רֶאva.'er.'eh'H7200among the spoilsבַשָּׁלָ֡לva.sha.LalH7998aאַחַ֨ת'a.ChatH259beautifulטוֹבָ֜הto.VahH2896cloakאַדֶּ֣רֶת'a.De.retH155from Shinarשִׁנְעָר֩shin.'ArH8152,two hundredוּמָאתַ֧יִםu.ma.Ta.yimH3967shekelsשְׁקָלִ֣יםshe.ka.LimH8255of silverכֶּ֗סֶףKe.sefH3701,and aאֶחָד֙'e.ChadH259barוּלְשׁ֨וֹןu.le.ShonH3956of goldזָהָ֤בza.HavH2091weighingמִשְׁקָל֔וֹmish.ka.LoH4948fiftyחֲמִשִּׁ֤יםcha.mi.ShimH2572shekelsשְׁקָלִים֙she.ka.LimH8255,I coveted themוָֽאֶחְמְדֵ֖םva.'ech.me.DemH2530and took themוָֽאֶקָּחֵ֑םva.'e.ka.ChemH3947.They areוְהִנָּ֨םve.hi.NamH2009hiddenטְמוּנִ֥יםte.mu.NimH2934in the groundבָּאָ֛רֶץba.'A.retzH776insideבְּת֥וֹךְbe.TokhH8432my tentהָאָֽהֳלִ֖יha.'o.ho.LiH168,with the silverוְהַכֶּ֥סֶףve.ha.Ke.sefH3701underneathתַּחְתֶּֽיהָ׃tach.Tei.haH8478.”

22So Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ye.ho.Shu.a'H3091sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֤חvai.yish.LachH7971messengersמַלְאָכִ֔יםmal.'a.KhimH4397who ranוַיָּרֻ֖צוּvai.ya.Ru.tzuH7323to the tentהָאֹ֑הֱלָהha.'O.he.lahH168,and there it all wasוְהִנֵּ֧הve.hi.NehH2009,hiddenטְמוּנָ֛הte.mu.NahH2934in his tentבְּאָהֳל֖וֹbe.'o.ho.LoH168,with the silverוְהַכֶּ֥סֶףve.ha.Ke.sefH3701underneathתַּחְתֶּֽיהָ׃tach.Tei.haH8478.

23They took the thingsוַיִּקָּחוּם֙vai.yi.ka.ChumH3947from insideמִתּ֣וֹךְmi.TokhH8432the tentהָאֹ֔הֶלha.'O.helH168,brought themוַיְבִאוּם֙vay.vi.'UmH935toאֶל־'el-H413Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ וְאֶ֖לye.ho.Shu.a' ve.'ElH3091 H413and allכָּל־kol-H3605the Israelitesבְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑לbe.Nei Yis.ra.'ElH1121 H3478,and spread them outוַיַּצִּקֻ֖םvai.ya.tzi.KumH3332beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

24Then Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֣עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091אֶת־'et-H853,together withעִמּ֑וֹi.MoH5973allכָּל־kol-H3605Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478,tookוַיִּקַּ֣חvai.yi.KachH3947Achanעָכָ֣ן'a.KhanH5912sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Zerahזֶ֡רַחZe.rachH2226וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853,the silverהַכֶּ֣סֶףha.Ke.sefH3701וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853,the cloakהָאַדֶּ֣רֶתha.'a.De.retH155וְֽאֶת־ve.'EtH853,the barלְשׁ֣וֹןle.ShonH3956of goldהַזָּהָ֡בha.za.HavH2091וְֽאֶת־ve.'EtH853,his sonsבָּנָ֡יוba.NavH1121וְֽאֶת־ve.'EtH853and daughtersבְּנֹתָ֡יוbe.no.TavH1323וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853,his oxenשׁוֹרוֹ֩sho.RoH7794andוְאֶת־ve.'EtH853donkeysחֲמֹר֨וֹcha.mo.RoH2543andוְאֶת־ve.'EtH853sheepצֹאנ֤וֹtzo.NoH6629וְאֶֽת־ve.'EtH853,his tentאָהֳלוֹ֙'o.ho.LoH168וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853,and everythingוְכָל־ve.kholH3605elsehe ownedאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834,and brought themוַיַּעֲל֥וּvai.ya.'a.LuH5927אֹתָ֖ם'o.TamH853to the Valleyעֵ֥מֶק'E.mekH6010of Achorעָכֽוֹר׃a.KhorH5911.

25“Whyמֶ֣הmehH4100have you brought this trouble upon usעֲכַרְתָּ֔נוּ'a.khar.Ta.nuH5916?”saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ye.ho.Shu.a'H3091. “Todayבַּיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑הbai.Yom ha.ZehH3117 H2088the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068will bring trouble upon youיַעְכֳּרְךָ֥ya'.kor.KhaH5916!”And allכָל־khol-H3605Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478stoned him to deathוַיִּרְגְּמ֨וּvai.yir.ge.MuH7275אֹת֤וֹ'o.ToH853אֶ֔בֶן'E.venH68.Then they stonedוַיִּסְקְל֥וּvai.yis.ke.LuH5619the othersאֹתָם֙'o.TamH853בָּאֲבָנִֽים׃ba.'a.va.NimH68and burned their bodiesוַיִּשְׂרְפ֤וּvai.yis.re.FuH8313אֹתָ֖ם'o.TamH853בָּאֵ֔שׁba.'EshH784.
