1Then Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֣עַ־ye.ho.Shu.a'-H3091sonבִּן־bin-H1121of Nunנ֠וּןnunH5126secretlyחֶ֣רֶשׁChe.reshH2791sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֣חvai.yish.LachH7971twoשְׁנַֽיִם־she.na.yim-H8147spiesאֲנָשִׁ֤ים מְרַגְּלִים֙'a.na.Shim me.ra.ge.LimH582 H7270fromמִֽן־min-H4480Shittimהַשִּׁטִּ֞יםha.shi.TimH7851,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “Goלְכ֛וּle.KhuH1980,inspectרְא֥וּre.'UH7200אֶת־'et-H853the landהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853,especially Jerichoיְרִיח֑וֹye.ri.ChoH3405.”So they wentוַיֵּ֨לְכ֜וּvai.Ye.le.KhuH1980and enteredוַ֠יָּבֹאוּVai.ya.vo.'uH935the houseבֵּית־beit-H1004of a prostituteאִשָּׁ֥ה זוֹנָ֛ה'i.Shah zo.NahH802 H2181namedוּשְׁמָ֥הּu.she.MahH8034Rahabרָחָ֖בra.ChavH7343and stayedוַיִּשְׁכְּבוּ־vai.yish.ke.vu-H7901thereשָֽׁמָּה׃Sha.mahH8033.

2And it was reportedוַיֵּ֣אָמַ֔רvai.Ye.'a.MarH559to the kingלְמֶ֥לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428of Jerichoיְרִיח֖וֹ לֵאמֹ֑רye.ri.Cho le.MorH3405 H559: “Beholdהִנֵּ֣הhi.NehH2009,some menאֲ֠נָשִׁים'A.na.shimH582of Israelמִבְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖לmi.be.Nei Yis.ra.'ElH1121 H3478have comeבָּ֣אוּBa.'uH935hereהֵ֧נָּהHe.nahH2008tonightהַלַּ֛יְלָהha.Lay.lahH3915to spy outלַחְפֹּ֥רlach.PorH2658אֶת־'et-H853the landהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776.”

3So the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Jerichoיְרִיח֔וֹye.ri.ChoH3405sentוַיִּשְׁלַח֙vai.yish.LachH7971toאֶל־'el-H413Rahabרָחָ֖בra.ChavH7343and saidלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “Bring outה֠וֹצִיאִיHo.tzi.'iH3318the menהָאֲנָשִׁ֨יםha.'a.na.ShimH582who cameהַבָּאִ֤יםha.ba.'ImH935toאֵלַ֙יִךְ֙'e.La.yikhH413youאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834and enteredבָּ֣אוּBa.'uH935your houseלְבֵיתֵ֔ךְle.vei.TekhH1004,forכִּ֛יkiH3588they have comeבָּֽאוּ׃Ba.'uH935to spy outלַחְפֹּ֥רlach.PorH2658אֶת־'et-H853the wholeכָּל־kol-H3605landהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776.”

4But the womanהָֽאִשָּׁ֛הha.'i.ShahH802אֶת־'et-H853had takenוַתִּקַּ֧חva.ti.KachH3947the twoשְׁנֵ֥יshe.NeiH8147menהָאֲנָשִׁ֖יםha.'a.na.ShimH582and hidden themוַֽתִּצְפְּנ֑וֹva.titz.pe.NoH6845.So she saidוַתֹּ֣אמֶר׀va.To.merH559, “Yesכֵּ֗ןKenH3651,the menהָֽאֲנָשִׁ֔יםha.'a.na.ShimH582did comeבָּ֤אוּBa.'uH935to meאֵלַי֙'e.LaiH413,but I did notוְלֹ֥אve.Lo'H3808knowיָדַ֖עְתִּיya.Da'.tiH3045whereמֵאַ֥יִןme.'A.yinH370they had come fromהֵֽמָּה׃He.mahH1992.

5At duskבַּחֹ֙שֶׁךְ֙ba.Cho.shekhH2822,when the gateהַשַּׁ֜עַרha.Sha.'arH8179wasוַיְהִ֨יvay.HiH1961about to closeלִסְגּ֗וֹרlis.GorH5462,the menוְהָאֲנָשִׁ֣יםve.ha.'a.na.ShimH582went outיָצָ֔אוּya.Tza.'uH3318,and I do notלֹ֣אlo'H3808knowיָדַ֔עְתִּיya.Da'.tiH3045which wayאָ֥נָה'A.nahH575theyהָֽאֲנָשִׁ֑יםha.'a.na.ShimH582wentהָלְכ֖וּha.le.KhuH1980.Pursueרִדְפ֥וּrid.FuH7291themאַחֲרֵיהֶ֖ם'a.cha.rei.HemH310quicklyמַהֵ֛רma.HerH4118,andכִּ֥יkiH3588you may catch themתַשִּׂיגֽוּם׃ta.si.GumH5381!”

6(Butוְהִ֖יאve.Hi'H1931Rahabhad taken them upהֶעֱלָ֣תַםhe.'e.La.tamH5927to the roofהַגָּ֑גָהha.Ga.gahH1406and hidden themוַֽתִּטְמְנֵם֙va.tit.me.NemH2934among the stalksהָעֵ֔ץha.'EtzH6086of flaxבְּפִשְׁתֵּ֣יbe.fish.TeiH6593that she had laid outהָעֲרֻכ֥וֹתha.'a.ru.KhotH6186thereעַל־ הַגָּֽג׃'al- ha.GagH5921 H1406.)

7So the king’s menוְהָאֲנָשִׁ֗יםve.ha.'a.na.ShimH582set out in pursuitרָדְפ֤וּra.de.FuH7291of the spiesאַֽחֲרֵיהֶם֙'a.cha.rei.HemH310along the roadדֶּ֣רֶךְDe.rekhH1870toעַ֖ל'alH5921the fordsהַֽמַּעְבְּר֑וֹתha.ma'.be.RotH4569of the Jordanהַיַּרְדֵּ֔ןhai.yar.DenH3383,and asכַּאֲשֶׁ֛רka.'a.SherH834soon as theyיָצְא֥וּya.tze.'UH3318had gone outאַחֲרֵ֕י הָרֹדְפִ֖ים'a.cha.Rei ha.ro.de.FimH7291 H310,the gateוְהַשַּׁ֣עַרve.ha.Sha.'arH8179was shutסָגָ֔רוּ אַחֲרֵיהֶֽם׃sa.Ga.ru 'a.cha.rei.HemH5462 H310.

9and saidוַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙va.To.merH559to themאֶל־ הָ֣אֲנָשִׁ֔ים'el- ha.'a.na.ShimH413 H582, “I knowיָדַ֕עְתִּיya.Da'.tiH3045thatכִּֽי־ki-H3588the LORDיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068has givenנָתַ֧ןna.TanH5414youאֶת־'et-H853this landהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776and thatוְכִֽי־ve.khi-H3588the fear of youאֵֽימַתְכֶם֙'ei.mat.KhemH367has fallenנָפְלָ֤הna.fe.LahH5307on usעָלֵ֔ינוּ'a.Lei.nuH5921,so thatוְכִ֥יve.KhiH3588allכָּל־kol-H3605who dwellיֹשְׁבֵ֥יyo.she.VeiH3427in the landהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776are melting in fearנָמֹ֛גוּna.Mo.guH4127of youמִפְּנֵיכֶֽם׃mi.pe.nei.KhemH6440.

10Forכִּ֣יkiH3588we have heardשָׁמַ֗עְנוּsha.Ma'.nuH8085אֵ֠ת'etH853howאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834the LORDיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068אֶת־'et-H853dried upהוֹבִ֨ישׁho.VishH3001the watersמֵ֤יmeiH4325of the Redסוּף֙sufH5488Seaיַם־yam-H3220before youמִפְּנֵיכֶ֔םmi.pe.nei.KhemH6440when you came outבְּצֵאתְכֶ֖םbe.tze.te.KhemH3318of Egyptמִמִּצְרָ֑יִםmi.mitz.Ra.yimH4714,and whatוַאֲשֶׁ֣רva.'a.SherH834you didעֲשִׂיתֶ֡ם'a.si.TemH6213to Sihonלְסִיחֹ֣ןle.si.ChonH5511and Ogוּלְע֔וֹגu.le.'ogH5747אֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834,the twoלִשְׁנֵי֩lish.NeiH8147kingsמַלְכֵ֨יmal.KheiH4428of the Amoritesהָאֱמֹרִ֜יha.'e.mo.RiH567acrossבְּעֵ֤בֶרbe.'E.verH5676the Jordanהַיַּרְדֵּן֙hai.yar.DenH3383,whomאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834you devoted to destructionהֶחֱרַמְתֶּ֖םhe.che.ram.TemH2763אוֹתָֽם׃'o.TamH853.

11When we heard thisוַנִּשְׁמַע֙va.nish.Ma'H8085,our heartsלְבָבֵ֔נוּle.va.Ve.nuH3824meltedוַיִּמַּ֣סvai.yi.MasH4549and everyone’sבְּאִ֖ישׁbe.'IshH376courageר֛וּחַRu.achH7307failedוְלֹא־ קָ֨מָה ע֥וֹדve.lo'- Ka.mah odH3808 H6965 H5750because of youמִפְּנֵיכֶ֑םmi.pe.nei.KhemH6440,forכִּ֚יkiH3588the LORDיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֔ם ה֤וּא'e.lo.hei.Khem hu'H430 H1931is Godאֱלֹהִים֙'E.lo.HimH430in the heavensבַּשָּׁמַ֣יִםba.sha.Ma.yimH8064aboveמִמַּ֔עַלmi.Ma.'alH4605and onוְעַל־ve.'al-H5921the earthהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776belowמִתָּֽחַת׃mi.Ta.chatH8478.
