1Nowוַיְהִי֩vay.HiH1961Adoni-zedekH139kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֗םye.ru.sha.LimH3389heardכִשְׁמֹ֨עַkhish.Mo.a'H8085thatכִּֽי־ki-H3588Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֣עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091אֶת־'et-H853had capturedלָכַ֨דla.KhadH3920Aiהָעַי֮ha.'AiH5857and devoted it to destructionוַיַּחֲרִימָהּ֒vai.ya.cha.ri.MahH2763—doing toעָשָׂ֤ה'a.SahH6213Aiלָעַ֖יla.'AiH5857and its kingוּלְמַלְכָּ֔הּ כֵּן־u.le.mal.Kah ken-H4428H3651asכַּאֲשֶׁ֨רka.'a.SherH834he had done toעָשָׂ֥ה'a.SahH6213Jerichoלִֽירִיחוֹ֙li.ri.ChoH3405and its kingוּלְמַלְכָּ֑הּu.le.mal.KahH4428—and thatוְכִ֨יve.KhiH3588the peopleיֹשְׁבֵ֤יyo.she.VeiH3427of Gibeonגִבְעוֹן֙giv.'OnH1391had made peaceהִשְׁלִ֜ימוּhish.Li.muH7999withאֶת־'et-H854Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478and wereוַיִּֽהְי֖וּvai.yih.YuH1961livingnear themבְּקִרְבָּֽם׃be.kir.BamH7130.
2So Adoni-zedek and his people were greatlyמְאֹ֔דme.'OdH3966alarmedוַיִּֽירְא֣וּvai.yi.re.'UH3372,becauseכִּ֣יkiH3588Gibeonגִּבְע֔וֹןgiv.'onH1391wasa greatגְּדוֹלָה֙ge.do.LahH1419cityעִ֤יר'irH5892,like oneכְּאַחַ֖תke.'a.ChatH259of the royalהַמַּמְלָכָ֑ה וְכִ֨יha.mam.la.Khah ve.KhiH4467H3588citiesעָרֵ֣י'a.ReiH5892;itהִ֤יאhi'H1931was largerגְדוֹלָה֙ge.do.LahH1419thanמִן־min-H4480Aiהָעַ֔יha.'AiH5857,and allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605its menאֲנָשֶׁ֖יהָ'a.na.Shei.haH582were mightyגִּבֹּרִֽים׃gi.bo.RimH1368.
3Therefore Adoni-zedekH139kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֗םye.ru.sha.LimH3389sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֨חvai.yish.LachH7971word toאֶל־'el-H413Hohamהוֹהָ֣םho.HamH1944kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Hebronחֶ֠בְרוֹן וְאֶל־Chev.ron ve.'el-H2275H413,Piramפִּרְאָ֨םpir.'AmH6502kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Jarmuthיַרְמ֜וּת וְאֶל־yar.Mut ve.'el-H3412H413,Japhiaיָפִ֧יעַya.Fi.a'H3309kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Lachishלָכִ֛ישׁ וְאֶל־la.Khish ve.'el-H3923H413,and Debirדְּבִ֥ירde.VirH1688kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Eglonעֶגְל֖וֹןeg.LonH5700,sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,
4“Come upעֲלֽוּ־ אֵלַ֣י'a.lu- 'e.LaiH5927H413and help meוְעִזְרֻ֔נִיve.'iz.Ru.niH5826.We will attackוְנַכֶּ֖הve.na.KehH5221אֶת־'et-H853Gibeonגִּבְע֑וֹןgiv.'onH1391,becauseכִּֽי־ki-H3588they have made peaceהִשְׁלִ֥ימָהhish.Li.mahH7999withאֶת־'et-H854Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ וְאֶת־ye.ho.Shu.a' ve.'EtH3091H854and the Israelitesבְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃be.Nei Yis.ra.'ElH1121H3478.”
