7“Whereמֵאַ֣יִןme.'A.yinH370have you come fromתָּבֹ֑אta.Vo'H935?”saidוַיֹּ֧אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559the LORDיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068toאֶל־'el-H413Satanהַשָּׂטָ֖ןha.sa.TanH7854. “From roamingמִשּׁ֣וּטmi.ShutH7751through the earthבָּאָ֔רֶץba.'A.retzH776,”heהַשָּׂטָ֤ןha.sa.TanH7854אֶת־'et-H853יְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068וַיֹּאמַ֔רvai.yo.MarH559repliedוַיַּ֨עַןvai.Ya.'anH6030, “and walking back and forthוּמֵֽהִתְהַלֵּ֖ךְu.me.hit.ha.LekhH1980in it.”

8Then the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Satanהַשָּׂטָ֔ןha.sa.TanH7854, “Have you consideredהֲשַׂ֥מְתָּ לִבְּךָ֖ עַל־ha.Sam.ta li.be.Kha 'al-H7760 H3820 H5921My servantעַבְדִּ֣י'av.DiH5650Jobאִיּ֑וֹב'i.YovH347?Forכִּ֣יkiH3588there isno oneאֵ֤ין'einH369on earthבָּאָ֔רֶץba.'A.retzH776like himכָּמֹ֙הוּ֙ka.Mo.huH3644,a manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376who isblamelessתָּ֧םtamH8535and uprightוְיָשָׁ֛רve.ya.SharH3477,who fearsיְרֵ֥אye.Re'H3373Godאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430and shunsוְסָ֥רve.SarH5493evilמֵרָֽע׃me.Ra'H7451.”

9Satanהַשָּׂטָ֛ןha.sa.TanH7854אֶת־'et-H853answeredוַיַּ֧עַןvai.Ya.'anH6030the LORDיְהוָ֖ה וַיֹּאמַ֑רYah.weh vai.yo.MarH3068 H559, “Does Jobאִיּ֖וֹב'i.YovH347fearיָרֵ֥אya.Re'H3372Godאֱלֹהִֽים׃'E.lo.HimH430for nothingהַֽחִנָּ֔םha.chi.NamH2600?

14a messengerוּמַלְאָ֛ךְu.mal.'AkhH4397cameבָּ֥אba'H935and reportedוַיֹּאמַ֑רvai.yo.MarH559toאֶל־'el-H413Jobאִיּ֖וֹב'i.YovH347: “While the oxenהַבָּקָר֙ha.ba.KarH1241wereהָי֣וּha.YuH1961plowingחֹֽרְשׁ֔וֹתcho.re.ShotH2790and the donkeysוְהָאֲתֹנ֖וֹתve.ha.'a.to.NotH860were grazingרֹע֥וֹתro.'otH7462nearbyעַל־ יְדֵיהֶֽם׃'al- ye.dei.HemH5921 H3027,

15the Sabeansשְׁבָא֙she.Va'H7614swooped downוַתִּפֹּ֤לva.ti.PolH5307and took them awayוַתִּקָּחֵ֔םva.ti.ka.ChemH3947וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853.They putהִכּ֣וּhi.KuH5221the servantsהַנְּעָרִ֖יםha.ne.'a.RimH5288to the swordלְפִי־ חָ֑רֶבle.fi- Cha.revH6310 H2719,and Iאֲנִ֛י'a.NiH589aloneלְבַדִּ֖יle.va.DiH905have escapedוָֽאִמָּ֨לְטָ֧ה רַק־va.'i.Mal.Tah rak-H4422 H7535to tellלְהַגִּ֥ידle.ha.GidH5046you!”

16While heזֶ֣הzehH2088was stillע֣וֹד׀odH5750speakingמְדַבֵּ֗רme.da.BerH1696,anotherוְזֶה֮ve.ZehH2088messenger cameבָּ֣אba'H935and reportedוַיֹּאמַר֒vai.yo.MarH559: “The fireאֵ֣שׁ'eshH784of Godאֱלֹהִ֗ים'E.lo.HimH430fellנָֽפְלָה֙na.fe.LahH5307fromמִן־min-H4480heavenהַשָּׁמַ֔יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064.It burnedוַתִּבְעַ֥רva.tiv.'ArH1197and consumedוַתֹּאכְלֵ֑םva.tokh.LemH398the sheepבַּצֹּ֛אןba.TzonH6629and the servantsוּבַנְּעָרִ֖יםu.va.ne.'a.RimH5288,and Iאֲנִ֛י'a.NiH589aloneלְבַדִּ֖יle.va.DiH905have escapedוָאִמָּ֨לְטָ֧ה רַק־va.'i.Mal.Tah rak-H4422 H7535to tellלְהַגִּ֥ידle.ha.GidH5046you!”

18Whileעַ֚ד'adH5704heזֶ֣הzehH2088was still speakingמְדַבֵּ֔רme.da.BerH1696,another messengerוְזֶ֖הve.ZehH2088cameבָּ֣אba'H935and reportedוַיֹּאמַ֑רvai.yo.MarH559: “Your sonsבָּנֶ֨יךָba.Nei.khaH1121and daughtersוּבְנוֹתֶ֤יךָu.ve.no.Tei.khaH1323were eatingאֹֽכְלִים֙'o.khe.LimH398and drinkingוְשֹׁתִ֣יםve.sho.TimH8354wineיַ֔יִןYa.yinH3196in their oldestהַבְּכֽוֹר׃ha.be.KhorH1060brother’sאֲחִיהֶ֥ם'a.chi.HemH251houseבְּבֵ֖יתbe.VeitH1004,
