14Then Kingהַמֶּ֣לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Zedekiahצִדְקִיָּ֗הוּtzid.ki.Ya.huH6667sent forוַיִּשְׁלַ֞חvai.yish.LachH7971Jeremiahיִרְמְיָ֤הוּyir.me.Ya.huH3414the prophetהַנָּבִיא֙ha.na.Vi'H5030and receivedוַיִּקַּ֞חvai.yi.KachH3947himאֶֽת־'et-H853atאֵלָ֔יו'e.LavH413אֶל־'el-H413the thirdהַשְּׁלִישִׁ֔יha.she.li.ShiH7992אֲשֶׁ֖ר'a.SherH834entranceמָבוֹא֙ma.Vo'H3996to the houseבְּבֵ֣יתbe.VeitH1004of the LORDיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068. “Iאֲנִ֤י'a.NiH589אֹֽתְךָ֙'o.te.KhaH853am going to askשֹׁאֵ֨לsho.'ElH7592you somethingדָּבָ֔רda.VarH1697,”saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559the kingהַמֶּ֜לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428toאֶֽל־'el-H413Jeremiahיִרְמְיָ֗הוּyir.me.Ya.huH3414. “Do notאַל־'al-H408hideתְּכַחֵ֥דte.kha.ChedH3582anythingדָּבָֽר׃da.VarH1697from meמִמֶּ֖נִּיmi.Me.niH4480.”

15“Ifכִּ֚יkiH3588I tell youאַגִּ֣יד'a.GidH5046,”Jeremiahיִרְמְיָ֙הוּ֙yir.me.Ya.huH3414repliedוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559אֶל־'el-H413צִדְקִיָּ֔הוּtzid.ki.Ya.huH6667הֲל֖וֹאha.Lo'H3808, “you will surely put me to deathH4191.And even ifוְכִי֙ve.KhiH3588I give you adviceאִיעָ֣צְךָ֔'i.'A.tze.khaH3289,you will notלֹ֥אlo'H3808listenתִשְׁמַ֖עtish.Ma'H8085to meאֵלָֽי׃'e.LaiH413.”

16But Kingהַמֶּ֧לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Zedekiahצִדְקִיָּ֛הוּtzid.ki.Ya.huH6667sworeוַיִּשָּׁבַ֞עvai.yi.sha.Va'H7650secretlyבַּסֵּ֣תֶרba.Se.terH5643toאֶֽל־'el-H413Jeremiahיִרְמְיָ֖הוּyir.me.Ya.huH3414לֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “As surely as the LORDיְהוָ֞הYah.wehH3068livesחַי־chai-H2416H853,whoאֲשֶׁר֩'a.SherH834has givenעָשָׂה־'a.sah-H6213usH853thisהַזֹּאת֙ha.zoTH2063lifeהַנֶּ֤פֶשׁha.Ne.feshH5315,I will notאִם־'im-H518kill youאֲמִיתֶ֔ךָ'a.mi.Te.khaH4191,norוְאִם־ve.'im-H518will I deliver youאֶתֶּנְךָ֗'e.ten.KhaH5414into the handsבְּיַד֙be.YadH3027of theseהָאֵ֔לֶּהha.'E.lehH428menהָאֲנָשִׁ֣יםha.'a.na.ShimH582whoאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834are seekingמְבַקְשִׁ֖יםme.vak.ShimH1245H853your lifeנַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃ סnaf.She.khaH5315.”

17Then Jeremiahיִרְמְיָ֣הוּyir.me.Ya.huH3414saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Zedekiahצִדְקִיָּ֡הוּtzid.ki.Ya.huH6667, “This is whatכֹּֽה־koh-H3541the LORDיְהוָה֩Yah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהֵ֨י'e.lo.HeiH430of Hostsצְבָא֜וֹתtze.va.'otH6635,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478,saysאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559: ‘Ifאִם־'im-H518you indeed surrenderH3318toאֶל־'el-H413the officersשָׂרֵ֤יsa.ReiH8269of the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Babylonבָּבֶל֙ba.VelH894,then youנַפְשֶׁ֔ךָnaf.She.khaH5315will liveוְחָיְתָ֣הve.cha.ye.TahH2421,thisהַזֹּ֔אתha.ZotH2063cityוְהָעִ֣ירve.ha.'IrH5892will notלֹ֥אlo'H3808be burned downתִשָּׂרֵ֖ף בָּאֵ֑שׁti.sa.Ref ba.'EshH8313 H784,and youאַתָּ֥ה'a.TahH859and your householdוּבֵיתֶֽךָ׃u.vei.Te.khaH1004will surviveוְחָיִ֖תָהve.cha.Yi.tahH2421.

18But ifוְאִ֣םve.'ImH518you do notלֹֽא־lo'-H3808surrenderתֵצֵ֗אte.Tze'H3318toאֶל־'el-H413the officersשָׂרֵי֙sa.ReiH8269of the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Babylonבָּבֶ֔לba.VelH894,then thisהַזֹּאת֙ha.zoTH2063cityהָעִ֤ירha.'IrH5892will be deliveredוְנִתְּנָ֞הve.ni.te.NahH5414into the handsבְּיַ֣דbe.YadH3027of the Chaldeansהַכַּשְׂדִּ֔יםha.kas.DimH3778.They will burn it downוּשְׂרָפ֖וּהָ בָּאֵ֑שׁu.se.ra.Fu.ha ba.'EshH8313 H784,and youוְאַתָּ֖הve.'a.TahH859yourself will notלֹֽא־lo'-H3808escapeתִמָּלֵ֥טti.ma.LetH4422their graspמִיָּדָֽם׃ סmi.ya.DamH3027.’”

19But Kingהַמֶּ֥לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Zedekiahצִדְקִיָּ֖הוּtzid.ki.Ya.huH6667saidוַיֹּ֛אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶֽל־'el-H413Jeremiahיִרְמְיָ֑הוּyir.me.Ya.huH3414, “Iאֲנִ֧י'a.NiH589am afraidדֹאֵ֣גdo.'EgH1672אֶת־'et-H853of the Jewsהַיְּהוּדִ֗יםhai.ye.hu.DimH3064whoאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834have desertedנָֽפְלוּ֙na.fe.LuH5307toאֶל־'el-H413the Chaldeansהַכַּשְׂדִּ֔יםha.kas.DimH3778,forפֶּֽן־pen-H6435the Chaldeansmay deliverיִתְּנ֥וּyi.te.NuH5414meאֹתִ֛י'o.TiH853into their handsבְּיָדָ֖םbe.ya.DamH3027to abuseוְהִתְעַלְּלוּ־ve.hit.'a.le.lu-H5953me.”

20“They will notלֹ֣אlo'H3808hand you overיִתֵּ֑נוּyi.Te.nuH5414,”Jeremiahיִרְמְיָ֖הוּyir.me.Ya.huH3414repliedוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559. “Obeyשְֽׁמַֽע־ נָ֣א׀she.ma'- na'H8085 H4994the voiceבְּק֣וֹלbe.KolH6963of the LORDיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068in whatלַאֲשֶׁ֤רla.'a.SherH834Iאֲנִי֙'a.NiH589am telling youדֹּבֵ֣ר אֵלֶ֔יךָdo.Ver 'e.Lei.khaH1696 H413,that it may go wellוְיִ֥יטַבve.Yi.tavH3190with youand youנַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃naf.She.khaH5315may liveוּתְחִ֥יu.te.ChiH2421.

21But ifוְאִם־ve.'im-H518youאַתָּ֖ה'a.TahH859refuseמָאֵ֥ןma.'EnH3986to surrenderלָצֵ֑אתla.TzetH3318,thisזֶ֣הzehH2088isthe wordהַדָּבָ֔רha.da.VarH1697thatאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068has shown meהִרְאַ֖נִיhir.'A.niH7200:

22וְהִנֵּ֣הve.hi.NehH2009Allכָל־khol-H3605the womenהַנָּשִׁ֗יםha.na.ShimH802whoאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834remainנִשְׁאֲרוּ֙nish.'a.RuH7604in the palaceבְּבֵ֣יתbe.VeitH1004of the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063will be brought outמוּצָא֕וֹתmu.tza.'otH3318toאֶל־'el-H413the officialsשָׂרֵ֖יsa.ReiH8269of the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Babylonבָּבֶ֑לba.VelH894,and thoseוְהֵ֣נָּהve.He.nahH2007womenwill sayאֹמְר֗וֹת'o.me.RotH559: ‘They misled youהִסִּית֜וּךָhi.si.Tu.khaH5496and overcameוְיָכְל֤וּve.ya.khe.LuH3201you—those trustedשְׁלֹמֶ֔ךָshe.lo.Me.khaH7965friends of yoursאַנְשֵׁ֣י'an.SheiH582.Your feetרַגְלֶ֖ךָrag.Le.khaH7272sankהָטְבְּע֥וּha.te.be.'UH2883into the mireבַבֹּ֛ץva.BotzH1206,and they desertedנָסֹ֥גוּna.So.guH5472youאָחֽוֹר׃'a.ChorH268.’

23וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853Allכָּל־kol-H3605your wivesנָשֶׁ֣יךָna.Shei.khaH802andוְאֶת־ve.'EtH853childrenבָּנֶ֗יךָba.Nei.khaH1121will be brought outמֽוֹצִאִים֙mo.tzi.'ImH3318toאֶל־'el-H413the Chaldeansהַכַּשְׂדִּ֔יםha.kas.DimH3778.And youוְאַתָּ֖הve.'a.TahH859yourself will notלֹא־lo'-H3808escapeתִמָּלֵ֣טti.ma.LetH4422their graspמִיָּדָ֑םmi.ya.DamH3027,forכִּ֣יkiH3588you will be seizedתִּתָּפֵ֔שׂti.ta.FesH8610וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853byבְיַ֤דve.YadH3027the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Babylonבָּבֶל֙ba.VelH894,and thisהַזֹּ֖אתha.ZotH2063cityהָעִ֥ירha.'IrH5892will be burned downתִּשְׂרֹ֥ף בָּאֵֽשׁ׃ פtis.Rof ba.'EshH8313 H784.”
