15After Nathanנָתָ֖ן אֶל־na.Tan 'el-H5416 H413had goneוַיֵּ֥לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980homeבֵּית֑וֹbei.ToH1004,the LORDיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068אֶת־'et-H853struckוַיִּגֹּ֣ףvai.yi.GofH5062the childהַיֶּ֜לֶדhai.Ye.ledH3206thatאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834Uriah’sאוּרִיָּ֛ה'u.ri.YahH223wifeאֵֽשֶׁת־'e.shet-H802had borneיָלְדָ֧הYal.dahH3205to Davidלְדָוִ֖דle.da.VidH1732,and he became illוַיֵּאָנַֽשׁ׃vai.ye.'a.NashH605.

16Davidדָּוִ֛דda.VidH1732אֶת־'et-H853pleadedוַיְבַקֵּ֥שׁvay.va.KeshH1245with Godהָאֱלֹהִ֖יםha.'E.lo.HimH430forבְּעַ֣דbe.'AdH1157the boyהַנָּ֑עַרha.Na.'arH5288.Heדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732fastedוַיָּ֤צָם צ֔וֹםvai.Ya.tzom TzomH6684 H6685and went into his houseוּבָ֥אu.Va'H935and spent the nightוְלָ֖ןve.LanH3885lyingוְשָׁכַ֥בve.sha.KhavH7901in sackclothon the groundאָֽרְצָה׃'A.re.tzahH776.

17The eldersזִקְנֵ֤יzik.NeiH2205of his householdבֵיתוֹ֙vei.ToH1004stoodוַיָּקֻ֜מוּvai.ya.Ku.muH6965beside himעָלָ֔יו'a.LavH5921to help him upלַהֲקִימ֖וֹla.ha.ki.MoH6965fromמִן־min-H4480the groundהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776,but he was unwillingוְלֹ֣א אָבָ֔הve.Lo' 'a.VahH3808 H14and would notוְלֹֽא־ve.lo'-H3808eatבָרָ֥אva.Ra'H1254anything with themאִתָּ֖ם לָֽחֶם׃'i.Tam La.chemH854 H3899.

18וַיְהִ֛יvay.HiH1961On the seventhהַשְּׁבִיעִ֖יha.she.vi.'IH7637dayבַּיּ֥וֹםbai.YomH3117the childהַיָּ֑לֶדhai.Ya.ledH3206diedוַיָּ֣מָתvai.Ya.motH4191.But David’sדָוִ֜דda.VidH1732servantsעַבְדֵ֨י'av.DeiH5650were afraidוַיִּֽרְאוּ֩vai.yir.'UH3372to tellלְהַגִּ֥ידle.ha.GidH5046himthatכִּי־ki-H3588the childהַיֶּ֗לֶדhai.Ye.ledH3206was deadמֵ֣תmetH4191,forכִּ֤יkiH3588they saidאָֽמְרוּ֙'a.me.RuH559, “Lookהִנֵּה֩ בִהְי֨וֹתhi.Neh vih.YotH2009 H1961,while the childהַיֶּ֜לֶדhai.Ye.ledH3206was aliveחַ֗יChaiH2416,we spokeדִּבַּ֤רְנוּdi.Bar.nuH1696to himאֵלָיו֙'e.LavH413,and he would notוְלֹא־ve.lo'-H3808listen to usשָׁמַ֣ע בְּקוֹלֵ֔נוּsha.Ma' be.ko.Le.nuH8085 H6963.So howוְאֵ֨יךְve.'EikhH349can we tellנֹאמַ֥רno.MarH559himאֵלָ֛יו'e.LavH413the childהַיֶּ֖לֶדhai.Ye.ledH3206is deadמֵ֥תmetH4191?He may even harm himselfוְעָשָׂ֥ה רָעָֽה׃ve.'a.Sah ra.'AhH6213 H7451.”

19When Davidדָּוִ֗דda.VidH1732sawוַיַּ֣רְאvai.Yar'H7200thatכִּ֤יkiH3588his servantsעֲבָדָיו֙'a.va.DavH5650were whispering to one anotherמִֽתְלַחֲשִׁ֔יםmit.la.cha.ShimH3907,heדָּוִ֖דda.VidH1732perceivedוַיָּ֥בֶןvai.Ya.venH995thatכִּ֣יkiH3588the childהַיָּ֑לֶדhai.Ya.ledH3206was deadמֵ֣תmetH4191.So heדָּוִ֧ד אֶל־da.Vid 'el-H1732 H413askedוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559his servantsעֲבָדָ֛יו'a.va.DavH5650, “Is the childהַיֶּ֖לֶדhai.Ye.ledH3206deadהֲמֵ֥תha.MetH4191?” “He is deadמֵֽת׃MetH4191,”they repliedוַיֹּ֥אמְרוּvai.Yo.me.ruH559.

20Then Davidדָּוִ֨דda.VidH1732got upוַיָּקָם֩vai.ya.KamH6965from the groundמֵהָאָ֜רֶץme.ha.'A.retzH776,washedוַיִּרְחַ֣ץvai.yir.ChatzH7364and anointed himselfוַיָּ֗סֶךְvai.Ya.sekhH5480,changedוַיְחַלֵּף֙vay.cha.LefH2498his clothesשִׂמְלֹתָ֔יוsim.lo.toH8071,and went intoוַיָּבֹ֥אvai.ya.Vo'H935the houseבֵית־veit-H1004of the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068and worshipedוַיִּשְׁתָּ֑חוּvai.yish.Ta.chuH7812.Then he wentוַיָּבֹא֙vai.ya.Vo'H935toאֶל־'el-H413his own houseבֵּית֔וֹbei.ToH1004,and at his requestוַיִּשְׁאַ֕לvai.yish.'AlH7592they setוַיָּשִׂ֥ימוּvai.ya.Si.muH7760foodלֶ֖חֶםLe.chemH3899before him,and he ateוַיֹּאכַֽל׃vai.yo.KhalH398.

21“Whatמָֽה־mah-H4100isהַדָּבָ֥רha.da.VarH1697thisהַזֶּ֖הha.ZehH2088אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834you have doneעָשִׂ֑יתָה'a.Si.tahH6213?”his servantsעֲבָדָיו֙ אֵלָ֔יו'a.va.Dav 'e.LavH5650 H413askedוַיֹּאמְר֤וּvai.yo.me.RuH559. “Whileבַּעֲב֞וּרba.'a.VurH5668the childהַיֶּ֤לֶדhai.Ye.ledH3206was aliveחַי֙chaiH2416,you fastedצַ֣מְתָּTzam.taH6684and weptוַתֵּ֔בְךְּva.Te.vekH1058,but whenוְכַֽאֲשֶׁר֙ve.kha.'a.SherH834heהַיֶּ֔לֶדhai.Ye.ledH3206diedמֵ֣תmetH4191,you got upקַ֖מְתָּKam.taH6965and ateוַתֹּ֥אכַל לָֽחֶם׃va.To.khal La.chemH398 H3899.”

22Davidansweredוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Whileבְּעוֹד֙be.'OdH5750the childהַיֶּ֣לֶדhai.Ye.ledH3206was aliveחַ֔יChaiH2416,I fastedצַ֖מְתִּיTzam.tiH6684and weptוָֽאֶבְכֶּ֑הva.'ev.KehH1058,forכִּ֤יkiH3588I saidאָמַ֙רְתִּי֙'a.Mar.tiH559, ‘Whoמִ֣יmiH4310knowsיוֹדֵ֔עַyo.De.a'H3045?The LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068may be graciousוְחַנַּ֥נִיye.cha.na.niH2603to meהַיָּֽלֶד׃hai.Ya.ledH3206and let him liveוְחַ֥יve.ChaiH2421.’
