Ezra 9:1-9
1Now when these thingsH428 were done, the princesH8269 drewH5066 near unto me, sayingH559, The peopleH5971 of IsraelH3478, and the priestsH3548 and the LevitesH3881, have not separatedH914 themselves from the peoplesH5971 of the landsH776, doing according to their abominationsH8441, even of the CanaanitesH3669, the HittitesH2850, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the AmmonitesH5984, the MoabitesH4125, the EgyptiansH4713, and the AmoritesH567. 2For they have takenH5375 of their daughtersH1323 for themselves and for their sonsH1121, so that the holyH6944 seedH2233 have mingled themselves with the peoplesH5971 of the landsH776: yea, the handH3027 of the princesH8269 and rulers hath beenH1961 chiefH8269 in this trespass. 3And when I heardH8085 this thingH1697, I rent my garmentH899 and my robeH4598, and plucked off the hairH8181 of my headH7218 and of my beardH2206, and satH3427 downH3427 confounded. 4Then were assembled unto me every one that trembled at the wordsH1697 of the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, because of the trespass of them of the captivity; and I satH3427 confounded until the eveningH6153 oblation.
5And at the eveningH6153 oblation I aroseH6965 up from my humiliation, even with my garmentH899 and my robeH4598 rent; and I fell upon my knees, and spreadH6566 out my handsH3709 unto Jehovah my GodH430; 6and I saidH559, O my GodH430, I am ashamedH954 and blush to liftH7311 up my faceH6440 to thee, my GodH430; for our iniquitiesH5771 are increasedH7235 over our headH7218, and our guiltiness is grownH1431 up unto the heavensH8064. 7Since the daysH3117 of our fathersH1 we have been exceeding guilty unto this dayH3117; and for our iniquitiesH5771 have we, our kingsH4428, and our priestsH3548, been delivered into the handH3027 of the kingsH4428 of the landsH776, to the swordH2719, to captivityH7628, and to plunderH961, and to confusion of faceH6440, as it is this dayH3117. 8And nowH6258 for a littleH4592 momentH7281 grace hath beenH1961 showed from Jehovah our GodH430, to leaveH7604 us a remnantH7604 to escapeH6413, and to giveH5414 us a nail in his holyH6944 placeH4725, that our GodH430 may lighten our eyesH5869, and giveH5414 us a littleH4592 reviving in our bondage. 9For we are bondmen; yet our GodH430 hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extendedH5186 lovingkindness unto us in the sight of the kingsH4428 of PersiaH6539, to giveH5414 us a reviving, to setH5414 up the houseH1004 of our GodH430, and to repair the ruinsH2723 thereof, and to giveH5414 us a wallH1447 in JudahH3063 and in JerusalemH3389.
