Ezra 6:1-15
1ThenH116 DariusH1868 the kingH4430 made a decreeH2942, and searchH1240 was made in the houseH1005 of the archives, where the treasures were laid up in BabylonH895. 2And there was foundH7912 at Achmetha, in the palace that is in the provinceH4083 of Media, a roll, and therein was thus written for a record: 3In the first yearH8140 of CyrusH3567 the kingH4430, CyrusH3567 the kingH4430 madeH7761 a decreeH2942: Concerning the houseH1005 of GodH426 at JerusalemH3390, let the houseH1005 be builded, the placeH870 where they offer sacrifices, and let the foundationsH787 thereof be strongly laid; the heightH7314 thereof threescore cubitsH521, and the breadth thereof threescore cubitsH521; 4with threeH8532 courses of great stonesH69, and a course of new timberH636: and let the expenses be given out of the king’sH4430 houseH1005. 5And alsoH638 let the goldH1722 and silverH3702 vesselsH3984 of the houseH1005 of GodH426, which NebuchadnezzarH5020 took forth out of the temple which is at JerusalemH3390, and brought unto BabylonH895, be restored, and brought again unto the temple which is at JerusalemH3390, every one to its placeH870; and thou shalt put them in the houseH1005 of GodH426.
6NowH3705 therefore, TattenaiH8674, governorH6347 beyond the RiverH5103, Shethar-bozenaiH8370, and your companions the Apharsachites, who are beyond the RiverH5103, be ye far from thence: 7let the workH5673 of this houseH1005 of GodH426 alone; let the governorH6347 of the JewsH3062 and the eldersH7868 of the JewsH3062 build this houseH1005 of GodH426 in its placeH870. 8Moreover I make a decreeH2942 what ye shall do to these eldersH7868 of the JewsH3062 for the buildingH1124 of this houseH1005 of GodH426: that of the king’sH4430 goods, even of the tributeH4061 beyond the RiverH5103, expenses be given with all diligence unto these menH1400, that they be not hindered. 9And that which they have need of, both young bullocks, and ramsH1798, and lambsH563, for burnt-offerings to the GodH426 of heavenH8065; also wheat, saltH4416, wineH2562, and oilH4887, according to the word of the priestsH3549 that are at JerusalemH3390, let it be given them dayH3118 by dayH3118 without fail; 10that they may offer sacrifices of sweet savor unto the GodH426 of heavenH8065, and prayH6739 for the life of the kingH4430, and of his sons. 11Also I have made a decreeH2942, that whosoever shall alter this word, let a beam be pulled out from his houseH1005, and let him be lifted up and fastened thereon; and let his houseH1005 be made a dunghill for this: 12and the GodH426 that hath caused his nameH8036 to dwell there overthrow all kingsH4430 and peoplesH5972 that shall put forth their handH3028 to alter the same, to destroyH2255 this houseH1005 of GodH426 which is at JerusalemH3390. I DariusH1868 have made a decreeH2942; let it be done with all diligence.
13ThenH116 TattenaiH8674, the governorH6347 beyond the RiverH5103, Shethar-bozenaiH8370, and their companions, because that DariusH1868 the kingH4430 had sent, did accordingly with all diligence. 14And the eldersH7868 of the JewsH3062 builded and prosperedH6744, through the prophesying of HaggaiH2292 the prophetH5029 and ZechariahH2148 the sonH1247 of IddoH5714. And they builded and finishedH3635 it, accordingH4481 to the commandment of the GodH426 of IsraelH3479, and accordingH4481 to the decreeH2942 of CyrusH3567, and DariusH1868, and ArtaxerxesH783 kingH4430 of PersiaH6540. 15And this houseH1005 was finished on the third dayH3118 of the month Adar, which was in the sixth yearH8140 of the reignH4437 of DariusH1868 the kingH4430.
