Esther 9:20-28
20And MordecaiH4782 wroteH3789 these thingsH1697, and sentH7971 lettersH5612 unto all the JewsH3064 that were in all the provincesH4082 of the kingH4428 AhasuerusH325, both nigh and farH7350, 21to enjoin them that they should keep the fourteenth dayH3117 of the monthH2320 AdarH143, and the fifteenth dayH3117 of the same, yearly, 22as the daysH3117 wherein the JewsH3064 had restH5117 from their enemiesH341, and the monthH2320 which was turnedH2015 unto them from sorrowH3015 to gladnessH8057, and from mourningH60 into a goodH2896 dayH3117; that they should makeH6213 them daysH3117 of feastingH4960 and gladnessH8057, and of sendingH4916 portionsH4490 oneH376 to another, and giftsH4979 to the poor. 23And the JewsH3064 undertook to do as they had begunH2490, and as MordecaiH4782 had writtenH3789 unto them; 24because HamanH2001 the sonH1121 of Hammedatha, the AgagiteH91, the enemy of all the JewsH3064, had plottedH2803 against the JewsH3064 to destroyH6 them, and had castH5307 PurH6332, that is the lotH1486, to consume them, and to destroyH6 them; 25but whenH834 the matter cameH935 before the kingH4428, he commanded by lettersH5612 that his wickedH7451 device, which he had devised against the JewsH3064, should returnH7725 upon his own headH7218, and that he and his sonsH1121 should be hangedH8518 on the gallowsH6086.
26Wherefore they calledH7121 these daysH3117 PurimH6332, after the nameH8034 of PurH6332. ThereforeH3651 because of all the wordsH1697 of this letterH107, and of that which they had seenH7200 concerning this matterH1697, and that which had come unto them, 27the JewsH3064 ordained, and took upon them, and upon their seedH2233, and upon all such as joined themselves unto them, so that it should not fail, that they would keep these twoH8147 daysH3117 according to the writing thereof, and according to the appointedH2165 time thereof, every yearH8141; 28and that these daysH3117 should be rememberedH2142 and kept throughout every generationH1755, every familyH4940, every provinceH4082, and every cityH5892; and that these daysH3117 of PurimH6332 should not fail from among the JewsH3064, nor the remembranceH2142 of them perish from their seedH2233.
