Leviticus 25

Revised Version 1895

1And the LORDH3068 spake unto MosesH4872 in mountH2022 SinaiH5514, sayingH559, 2SpeakH1696 unto the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, and sayH559 unto them, When ye comeH935 intoH413 the landH776 whichH834 I giveH5414 youH834, then shall the landH776 keepH935 a sabbathH7676 unto the LORDH3068. 3SixH8337 yearsH8141 thou shalt sowH2232 thy fieldH7704, and sixH8337 yearsH8141 thou shalt pruneH2168 thy vineyardH3754, and gatherH622 in the fruits thereof; 4but in the seventhH7637 yearH8141 shall be a sabbathH7676 of solemnH7677 restH7677 for the landH776, a sabbathH7676 unto the LORDH3068: thou shalt neitherH3808 sowH2232 thy fieldH7704, norH3808 pruneH2168 thy vineyardH3754. 5That which groweth of itself of thy harvestH7105 thou shalt notH3808 reapH7114, and the grapesH6025 of thy undressed vine thou shalt notH3808 gatherH1219: it shall be a yearH8141 of solemnH7677 restH7677 for the landH776. 6And the sabbathH7676 of the landH776 shall be for foodH402 for youH5973; for thee, and for thy servantH5650 and for thy maidH519, and for thy hiredH7916 servantH5650 and for thy stranger that sojourn with thee; 7and for thy cattleH929, and for the beastsH929 that are in thy landH776, shall allH3605 the increaseH8393 thereof be for foodH398. 8And thou shalt numberH5608 sevenH7651 sabbathsH7676 of yearsH8141 unto thee, sevenH7651 timesH6471 sevenH7651 yearsH8141; and there shall be unto thee the daysH3117 of sevenH7651 sabbathsH7676 of yearsH8141, evenH7651 fortyH705 and nineH8672 yearsH8141. 9Then shalt thou send abroad the loud trumpetH7782 on the tenthH6218 dayH3117 of the seventhH7637 monthH2320; in the dayH3117 of atonementH3725 shall ye send abroad the trumpetH7782 throughoutH3605 allH3605 your landH776. 10And ye shall hallow the fiftiethH2572 yearH8141, and proclaimH7121 libertyH1865 throughoutH3605 the landH776 unto allH3605 the inhabitantsH3427 thereof: it shall be a jubile unto youH3605; and ye shall returnH7725 everyH3605 manH376 unto his possessionH272, and ye shall returnH7725 everyH3605 manH376 unto his familyH4940. 11A jubile shall that fiftiethH2572 yearH8141 be unto youH3808: ye shall notH3808 sowH2232, neitherH3808 reapH7114 that whichH1931 groweth of itselfH1931 in it, norH3808 gatherH1219 the grapes in it of the undressed vinesH5139. 12For it is a jubile; it shall be holyH6944 unto youH3588: ye shall eatH398 the increaseH8393 thereof outH4480 of the fieldH7704. 13In this yearH8141 of jubile ye shall returnH7725 everyH376 manH376 unto his possessionH272. 14And ifH3588 thou sellH4376 aught unto thy neighbour, or buyH7069 of thy neighbour’s handH3027, ye shall notH408 wrongH3238 one anotherH251: 15accordingH310 to the numberH4557 of yearsH8141 afterH310 the jubile thou shalt buyH7069 of thy neighbour, and accordingH310 unto the numberH4557 of yearsH8141 of the cropsH8393 he shall sellH4376 unto thee. 16AccordingH6310 to the multitudeH7230 of the yearsH8141 thou shalt increaseH7235 the priceH4736 thereof, and accordingH6310 to the fewnessH4591 of the yearsH8141 thou shalt diminishH4591 the priceH4736 of it; for the numberH4557 of the cropsH8393 doth he sellH4376 unto thee. 17And ye shall notH3808 wrongH3238 one anotherH376; but thou shalt fearH3372 thy GodH430: for I am the LORDH3068 your GodH430. 18Wherefore ye shall doH6213 my statutesH2708, and keepH8104 my judgmentsH4941 and doH6213 them; and ye shall dwellH3427 in the landH776 in safetyH983. 19And the landH776 shall yieldH5414 herH5921 fruitH6529, and ye shall eatH398 your fillH7648, and dwellH3427 therein in safetyH983. 20And ifH3588 ye shall sayH559, WhatH4100 shall weH3588 eatH398 the seventhH7637 yearH8141? beholdH2005, weH3588 shall notH3808 sowH2232, norH3808 gatherH622 in our increaseH8393: 21then I will commandH6680 my blessingH1293 upon youH6680 in the sixthH8345 yearH8141, and it shall bring forth fruit for the threeH7969 yearsH8141. 22And ye shall sowH2232 the eighthH8066 yearH8141, and eatH398 of the fruits, the oldH3465 store; untilH5704 the ninthH8671 yearH8141, untilH5704 herH935 fruits comeH935 in, ye shall eatH398 the oldH3465 store. 23And the landH776 shall notH3808 be soldH4376 in perpetuity; for the landH776 is mine: for ye are strangersH1616 and sojournersH8453 with meH5978. 24And in allH3605 the landH776 of your possessionH272 ye shall grantH5414 a redemptionH1353 for the landH776. 25IfH3588 thy brotherH251 be waxen poorH4134, and sellH4376 some of his possessionH272, then shall his kinsmanH251 that is nextH1350 unto him comeH935, and shall redeemH1350 that which his brotherH251 hath soldH4376. 26And ifH3588 a manH376 have noH3808 one to redeemH1350 it, and he be waxen rich and findH4672 sufficientH1767 to redeemH1350 it; 27then let him countH8141 the yearsH8141 of the saleH4465 thereof, and restoreH7725 the overplus unto the manH376 to whomH834 he soldH4376 it; and he shall returnH7725 unto his possessionH272. 28But ifH518 he be notH3808 ableH3027 to getH3318 it backH7725 for himselfH3027, then that which he hath soldH4465 shall remainH1961 in the handH3027 of him that hath boughtH7069 it untilH5704 the yearH8141 of jubile: and in the jubile it shall goH3318 outH3318, and he shall returnH7725 unto his possessionH272. 29And ifH3588 a manH376 sellH4376 a dwellingH4186 houseH1004 in a walledH2346 cityH5892, then he may redeem it withinH1004 a wholeH3117 yearH8141 afterH1961 it is soldH4376; for a fullH3117 yearH8141 shall he have the rightH1353 of redemptionH1353. 30And ifH518 it be notH3808 redeemedH1350 withinH1004 the spaceH4390 of a fullH4390 yearH8141, then the houseH1004 that is in the walledH2346 cityH5892 shall be madeH834 sure in perpetuity to him that boughtH7069 it, throughoutH1755 his generationsH1755: it shall notH3808 goH3318 outH3318 in the jubile. 31But the housesH1004 of the villages whichH834 have noH369 wallH2346 roundH5439 aboutH1961 them shall be reckonedH2803 with the fieldsH7704 of the countryH776: they may be redeemed, and they shall goH3318 outH3318 in the jubile. 32Nevertheless the citiesH5892 of the LevitesH3881, the housesH1004 of the citiesH5892 of their possessionH272, may the LevitesH3881 redeem at anyH1961 time. 33And ifH3588 one of the LevitesH3881 redeemH1350, then the houseH1004 that was soldH4465, and the cityH5892 of his possessionH272, shall goH3318 outH3318 in the jubile: for the housesH1004 of the citiesH5892 of the LevitesH3881 are their possessionH272 among the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478. 34But the fieldH7704 of the suburbs of their citiesH5892 may notH3808 be soldH4376; for it is their perpetualH5769 possessionH272. 35And ifH3588 thy brotherH251 be waxen poorH4134, and his handH3027 fail with thee; then thou shalt uphold him: as a strangerH1616 and a sojournerH8453 shall he liveH2421 with thee. 36TakeH3947 thou noH408 usuryH8636 of him or increaseH8636; but fearH3372 thy GodH430: that thy brotherH251 may liveH2421 with thee. 37Thou shalt notH3808 giveH5414 him thy moneyH3701 upon usury, norH3808 giveH5414 him thy victuals for increaseH4768. 38I am the LORDH3068 your GodH430, whichH834 broughtH3318 youH834 forthH3318 outH3318 of the landH776 of EgyptH4714, to giveH5414 youH834 the landH776 of CanaanH3667, to be your GodH430. 39And ifH3588 thy brotherH251 be waxen poorH4134 with thee, and sellH4376 himselfH3808 unto thee; thou shalt notH3808 makeH5647 him to serveH5647 as a bondservant: 40as an hiredH7916 servantH7916, and as a sojournerH8453, he shall be with thee; he shall serveH5647 with thee unto the yearH8141 of jubile: 41then shall he goH3318 outH3318 from thee, he and his childrenH1121 with him, and shall returnH7725 unto his ownH272 familyH4940, and unto the possessionH272 of his fathersH1 shall he returnH7725. 42For they are my servantsH5650, whichH834 I broughtH3318 forthH3318 outH3318 of the landH776 of EgyptH4714: they shall notH3808 be soldH4376 as bondmen. 43Thou shalt notH3808 ruleH7287 over him with rigour; but shalt fearH3372 thy GodH430. 44And as for thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, whichH834 thou shalt have; of the nationsH1471 that are roundH5439 aboutH1961 youH834, of them shall ye buyH7069 bondmen and bondmaids. 45MoreoverH1571 of the childrenH1121 of the strangers that do sojourn among youH834, of them shall ye buyH7069, and of their familiesH4940 that are with youH834, whichH834 they have begottenH3205 in your landH776: and they shall be your possessionH272. 46And ye shall makeH5647 them an inheritanceH5157 for your childrenH1121 afterH310 youH3808, to hold for a possessionH272; of them shall ye takeH3423 your bondmen for everH5769: but over your brethrenH251 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 ye shall notH3808 ruleH7287, one over anotherH251, with rigour. 47And ifH3588 a strangerH1616 or sojournerH8453 with thee be waxen rich, and thy brotherH251 be waxen poorH4134 besideH3027 him, and sellH4376 himselfH3027 unto the strangerH1616 or sojournerH8453 with thee, or to the stock of the stranger’sH1616 familyH4940: 48afterH310 that he is soldH4376 he may be redeemedH1350; one of his brethrenH251 may redeemH1350 him: 49or his uncleH1730, or his uncle’sH1730 sonH1121, may redeemH1350 him, or anyH176 that is nigh of kin unto him of his familyH4940 may redeemH1350 him; or ifH176 he be waxen rich, he may redeemH1350 himselfH3027. 50And he shall reckon with him that boughtH7069 him from the yearH8141 that he soldH4376 himselfH3117 to him unto the yearH8141 of jubile: and the priceH3701 of his saleH4465 shall be according unto the numberH4557 of yearsH8141; according to the time of an hiredH7916 servantH7916 shall he be with him. 51IfH518 there be yet manyH7227 yearsH8141, accordingH6310 unto them he shall giveH7725 backH7725 the priceH3701 of his redemptionH1353 out of the moneyH3701 that he was boughtH4736 for. 52And ifH518 there remainH7604 but fewH4592 yearsH8141 unto the yearH8141 of jubile, then he shall reckon with him; accordingH6310 unto his yearsH8141 shall he giveH7725 backH7725 the price of his redemptionH1353. 53As a servantH7916 hiredH7916 yearH8141 by yearH8141 shall he be with him: he shall notH3808 ruleH7287 with rigour over him in thy sightH5869. 54And ifH518 he be notH3808 redeemedH1350 by theseH428 meansH518, then he shall goH3318 outH3318 in the yearH8141 of jubile, he, and his childrenH1121 with him. 55For unto meH589 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 are servantsH5650; they are my servantsH5650 whomH834 I broughtH3318 forthH3318 outH3318 of the landH776 of EgyptH4714: I am the LORDH3068 your GodH430.
