17And the young menנַעֲרֵ֛יna.'a.ReiH5288of the princesשָׂרֵ֥יsa.ReiH8269of the provincesהַמְּדִינ֖וֹתha.me.di.NotH4082went outוַיֵּצְא֗וּvai.ye.tze.'UH3318firstבָּרִֽאשֹׁנָ֑הba.ri.sho.NahH7223;and Ben–hadadH1130sent outוַיִּשְׁלַ֣חvai.yish.LachH7971,and they toldוַיַּגִּ֤ידוּvai.ya.Gi.duH5046him, sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559,There are menאֲנָשִׁ֕ים'a.na.ShimH582come outיָצְא֖וּya.tze.'UH3318of Samariaמִשֹּׁמְרֽוֹן׃mi.sho.me.RonH8111.

18And he saidוַיֹּ֛אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Whether they be come outיָצָ֖אוּya.Tza.'uH3318for peaceלְשָׁל֥וֹםle.sha.LomH7965,takeתִּפְשׂ֣וּםtif.SumH8610them aliveחַיִּ֑יםchai.YimH2416;or whether they be come outיָצָ֖אוּya.Tza.'uH3318for warלְמִלְחָמָ֛הle.mil.cha.MahH4421,takeתִּפְשֽׂוּם׃tif.SumH8610them aliveחַיִּ֥יםchai.YimH2416.

19So these young menנַעֲרֵ֖יna.'a.ReiH5288of the princesשָׂרֵ֣יsa.ReiH8269of the provincesהַמְּדִינ֑וֹתha.me.di.NotH4082came outיָצְא֣וּya.tze.'UH3318of the cityהָעִ֔ירha.'IrH5892,and the armyוְהַחַ֖יִלve.ha.Cha.yilH2428which followedאַחֲרֵיהֶֽם׃'a.cha.rei.HemH310them.

20And they slewוַיַּכּוּ֙vai.ya.KuH5221every oneאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376his manאִישׁ֔וֹ'i.ShoH376:and the Syriansאֲרָ֔ם'a.RamH758fledוַיָּנֻ֣סוּvai.ya.Nu.suH5127;and Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478pursuedוַֽיִּרְדְּפֵ֖םvai.yir.de.FemH7291them: and Ben–hadadH1130the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Syriaאֲרָ֔ם'a.RamH758escapedוַיִּמָּלֵ֗טvai.yi.ma.LetH4422on an horseס֖וּסsusH5483with the horsemenוּפָרָשִֽׁים׃u.fa.ra.ShimH6571.

21And the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478went outוַיֵּצֵא֙vai.ye.Tze'H3318,and smoteוַיַּ֥ךְvai.YakhH5221the horsesהַסּ֖וּסha.SusH5483and chariotsהָרָ֑כֶבha.Ra.khevH7393,and slewוְהִכָּ֥הve.hi.KahH5221the Syriansבַאֲרָ֖םva.'a.RamH758with a greatגְדוֹלָֽה׃ge.do.LahH1419slaughterמַכָּ֥הma.KahH4347.

22And the prophetהַנָּבִיא֙ha.na.Vi'H5030cameוַיִּגַּ֤שׁvai.yi.GashH5066to the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto him, GoH3212,strengthenהִתְחַזַּ֔קhit.cha.ZakH2388thyself, and markוְדַ֥עve.Da'H3045,and seeוּרְאֵ֖הu.re.'EhH7200what thou doestתַּעֲשֶׂ֑הta.'a.SehH6213:for at the returnלִתְשׁוּבַ֣תlit.shu.VatH8666of the yearהַשָּׁנָ֔הha.sha.NahH8141the kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Syriaאֲרָ֖ם'a.RamH758will come upעֹלֶ֥ה'o.LehH5927against thee.

23And the servantsוְעַבְדֵ֨יve.'av.DeiH5650of the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Syriaאֲרָ֜ם'a.RamH758saidאָמְר֣וּ'a.me.RuH559unto him, Their godsאֱלֹהֵ֤י'e.lo.HeiH430aregodsאֱלֹ֣הֵיהֶ֔ם'e.Lo.hei.HemH430of the hillsהָרִים֙ha.RimH2022;therefore they were strongerחָזְק֣וּcha.ze.KuH2388than we; butוְאוּלָ֗םve.'u.LamH199let us fightנִלָּחֵ֤םni.la.ChemH3898against them in the plainבַּמִּישׁ֔וֹרba.mi.ShorH4334,and surelyלֹ֥אlo'H3808we shall be strongerנֶחֱזַ֖קne.che.ZakH2388than they.

25And numberתִֽמְנֶה־tim.neh-H4487thee an armyחַ֡יִלCha.yilH2428,like the armyכַּחַיִל֩ka.cha.YilH2428that thou hast lostהַנֹּפֵ֨לha.no.FelH5307,horseוְס֣וּסve.SusH5483for horseכַּסּ֣וּס׀ka.SusH5483,and chariotוְרֶ֣כֶבve.Re.khevH7393for chariotכָּרֶ֗כֶבka.Re.khevH7393:and we will fightוְנִֽלָּחֲמָ֤הve.ni.la.cha.MahH3898againstH854them in the plainבַּמִּישׁ֔וֹרba.mi.ShorH4334, andsurely we shall be strongerנֶחֱזַ֖קne.che.ZakH2388than they. 26And it came to pass at the returnלִתְשׁוּבַ֣תlit.shu.VatH8666of the yearהַשָּׁנָ֔הha.sha.NahH8141,that Ben–hadadH1130numberedוַיִּפְקֹ֥דvai.yif.KodH6485the Syriansאֲרָ֑ם'a.RamH758,and went upוַיַּ֣עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927to Aphekאֲפֵ֔קָה'a.Fe.kahH663,to fightלַמִּלְחָמָ֖הla.mil.cha.MahH4421against Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.

27And the childrenוּבְנֵ֣יu.ve.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478were numberedהָתְפָּקְדוּ֙ha.te.pa.ke.DuH6485,and were all presentוְכָלְכְּל֔וּve.khal.ke.LuH3557,and wentH3212againstH7125them: and the childrenבְנֵֽי־ve.nei-H1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֜לYis.ra.'ElH3478pitchedוַיַּחֲנ֨וּvai.ya.cha.NuH2583before them like twoכִּשְׁנֵי֙kish.NeiH8147little flocksחֲשִׂפֵ֣יcha.si.FeiH2835of kidsעִזִּ֔ים'i.ZimH5795;but the Syriansוַאֲרָ֖םva.'a.RamH758filledמִלְא֥וּmil.'UH4390the countryהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776.
