Revelation 1:5-20

5and from Jesus Christ, 1the faithful witness, the 2firstborn of the dead, and the 3ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who 4loves us and released us from our sins by His blood-- 6and He made us into a 5kingdom, 6priests to 78His God and Father--9to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. 710Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and 11every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will 12mourn over Him. 13So it is to be. Amen.

8“I am 14the Alpha and the Omega,” says the 15Lord God, “16who is and who was and who 17is to come, the Almighty.”

918I, John, your 19brother and 20fellow participant in the tribulation and 21kingdom and 2223perseverance in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos 24because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. 10I was 25in the 26Spirit on 27the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice 28like the sound of a trumpet, 11saying, “29Write 30on a scroll what you see, and send it to the 31seven churches: to 32Ephesus, 33Smyrna, 34Pergamum, 35Thyatira, 36Sardis, 37Philadelphia, and 38Laodicea.”

12Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And after turning I saw 39seven golden lampstands; 13and 40in the middle of the lampstands I saw one 41like 42a son of man, 43clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and 44wrapped around the chest with a golden sash. 14His head and His 45hair were white like white wool, like snow; and 46His eyes were like a flame of fire. 15His 47feet were like 48burnished bronze when it has been heated to a glow in a furnace, and His 49voice was like the sound of many waters. 16In His right hand He held 50seven stars, and out of His mouth came a 51sharp two-edged sword; and His 52face was like 53the sun 54shining in its strength.

17When I saw Him, I 55fell at His feet like a dead man. And He 56placed His right hand on me, saying, “57Do not be afraid; 58I am the first and the last, 18and the 59living One; and I 6061was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have 62the keys of death and of Hades. 19Therefore 63write 64the things which you have seen, 65and the things which are, and the things which will take place 66after these things. 20As for the 67mystery of the 68seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the 69seven golden lampstands: the 70seven stars are the angels of 71the seven churches, and the seven 72lampstands are the seven churches.
