Matthew 11:16-24
16“But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces, who call out to the other children, 17and say, ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a song of mourning, and you did not 1mourn.’ 18For John came neither 2eating nor 3drinking, and they say, ‘4He has a demon!’ 19The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a 5heavy drinker, 6a friend of tax collectors and 7sinners!’ And yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.”
20Then He began to reprimand the cities in which most of His 89miracles were done, because they did not repent. 21“10Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, 11Bethsaida! For if the 12miracles that occurred in you had occurred in 13Tyre and 14Sidon, they would have repented long ago in 1516sackcloth and ashes. 22Nevertheless I say to you, 17it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon on 18the day of judgment than for you. 23And you, 19Capernaum, will not be exalted to heaven, will you? You will be 20brought down to 21Hades! For if the 22miracles that occurred in you had occurred in 23Sodom, it would have remained to this day. 24Nevertheless I say to you that 24it will be more tolerable for the land of 25Sodom on the day of judgment, than for you.”
