Lamentations 3:1-20
1I am the man who has 1seen misery Because of the rod of His wrath.2He has driven me and made me walk In 2darkness and not in light.3Indeed, He has 3turned His hand against me Repeatedly all the day.4He has consumed my 4flesh and my skin, He has 5broken my bones.5He has 67besieged and surrounded me with 89bitterness and hardship.6He has made me live in 10dark places, Like those who have long been dead.7He has 11walled me in so that I cannot go out; He has made my 1213chain heavy.8Even when I cry out and call for help, He 14shuts out my prayer.9He has 15blocked my ways with cut stone; He has twisted my paths.10He is to me like a bear lying in wait, Like a lion in secret places.11He has made my ways deviate, and 16torn me to pieces; He has made me desolate.12He 17bent His bow And 18took aim at me as a target for the arrow.13He made the 19arrows of His 20quiver Enter my 21inward parts.14I have become a 22laughingstock to all my people, Their 23song of ridicule all the day.15He has 24filled me with bitterness, He has made me drink plenty of wormwood.16He has also 25made my teeth grind with 26gravel; He has made me cower in the 27dust.17My soul has been excluded 28from peace; I have forgotten 29happiness.18So I say, “My 30strength has failed, And so has my 31hope from the Lord.”
19Remember my misery and my homelessness, the 32wormwood and 33bitterness.2034My soul certainly remembers, And 35is 36bent over within me.
