John 3:26-36
26And they came to John and said to him, “1Rabbi, He who was with you 2beyond the Jordan, to whom you 3have testified--behold, He is baptizing and all the people are coming to Him.” 27John replied, “4A person can receive not even one thing unless it 5has been given to him from heaven. 28You yourselves 6are my witnesses that I said, ‘7I am not the 8Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent ahead of Him.’ 29He who has the bride is 9the groom; but the friend of the groom, who stands and listens to him, rejoices greatly because of the groom’s voice. So this 10joy of mine has been made full. 30He must 11increase, but I must 12decrease.
31“13He who comes from above is above all; 14the one who is only from the earth is of the earth and speaks of the earth. 15He who comes from heaven is above all. 32What He has seen and heard, of this He 16testifies; and 17no one accepts His testimony. 33The one who has accepted His testimony 18has certified that God is true. 34For He whom God 19sent speaks the words of God; 20for He does not give the Spirit 21sparingly. 3522The Father loves the Son and 23has entrusted all things to His hand. 36The one who 24believes in the Son has eternal life; but the one who 25does not 26obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”
