John 3:25-36
25Then a matter of dispute developed on the part of John’s disciples with a Jew about 12purification. 26And they came to John and said to him, “3Rabbi, He who was with you 4beyond the Jordan, to whom you 5have testified--behold, He is baptizing and all the people are coming to Him.” 27John replied, “6A person can receive not even one thing unless it 7has been given to him from heaven. 28You yourselves 8are my witnesses that I said, ‘9I am not the 10Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent ahead of Him.’ 29He who has the bride is 11the groom; but the friend of the groom, who stands and listens to him, rejoices greatly because of the groom’s voice. So this 12joy of mine has been made full. 30He must 13increase, but I must 14decrease.
31“15He who comes from above is above all; 16the one who is only from the earth is of the earth and speaks of the earth. 17He who comes from heaven is above all. 32What He has seen and heard, of this He 18testifies; and 19no one accepts His testimony. 33The one who has accepted His testimony 20has certified that God is true. 34For He whom God 21sent speaks the words of God; 22for He does not give the Spirit 23sparingly. 3524The Father loves the Son and 25has entrusted all things to His hand. 36The one who 26believes in the Son has eternal life; but the one who 27does not 28obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”
