John 3:21-31
21But the one who 1practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds will be revealed 2as having been performed in God.”
22After these things Jesus and His 3disciples came into the land of Judea; and there He was spending time with them and 4baptizing. 23Now John also was baptizing in Aenon, near Salim, because there was an abundance of water there; and people were coming and being baptized-- 24for 5John had not yet been thrown into prison.
25Then a matter of dispute developed on the part of John’s disciples with a Jew about 67purification. 26And they came to John and said to him, “8Rabbi, He who was with you 9beyond the Jordan, to whom you 10have testified--behold, He is baptizing and all the people are coming to Him.” 27John replied, “11A person can receive not even one thing unless it 12has been given to him from heaven. 28You yourselves 13are my witnesses that I said, ‘14I am not the 15Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent ahead of Him.’ 29He who has the bride is 16the groom; but the friend of the groom, who stands and listens to him, rejoices greatly because of the groom’s voice. So this 17joy of mine has been made full. 30He must 18increase, but I must 19decrease.
31“20He who comes from above is above all; 21the one who is only from the earth is of the earth and speaks of the earth. 22He who comes from heaven is above all.
