John 12:25-50

251The one who loves his 2life loses it, and the one who 3hates his 4life in this world will keep it 5to eternal life. 26If anyone 6serves Me, he must follow Me; and 7where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone 8serves Me, the Father will 9honor him.

27“10Now My soul has become troubled; and what am I to say? ‘11Father, save Me from 12this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour. 2813Father, glorify Your name.” Then a 14voice came out of heaven: “I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.” 29So the crowd who stood by and heard it were saying that it had thundered; others were saying, “15An angel has spoken to Him!” 30Jesus responded and said, “16This voice has not come for My sake, but for yours. 3117Now judgment is upon this world; now 18the ruler of this world will be cast out. 32And I, if I 19am lifted up from the earth, will 20draw all people to Myself.” 33Now He was saying this 21to indicate what kind of death He was going to die. 34The crowd then answered Him, “We have heard from 22the Law that 23the 24Christ is to remain forever; and how is it that You say, ‘The 25Son of Man must be 26lifted up’? Who is this 27Son of Man?” 35So Jesus said to them, “28For a little while longer 29the Light is among you. 30Walk while you have the Light, so that darkness will not overtake you; also, the one who 31walks in the darkness does not know where he is going. 36While you have the Light, 32believe in the Light, so that you may become 33sons of Light.”

These things Jesus proclaimed, and He went away and 34hid Himself from them. 37But though He had performed so many 35signs in their sight, they still were not believing in Him. 38This happened so that the word of Isaiah the prophet which he spoke would be fulfilled: “36Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” 39For this reason they could not believe, for Isaiah said again, 40“37He has blinded their eyes and He 38hardened their heart, so that they will not see with their eyes and understand with their heart, and 39be converted, and so I will not heal them.” 41These things Isaiah said because 40he saw His glory, and 41he spoke about Him. 42Nevertheless 42many, even of 43the rulers, believed in Him, but 44because of the Pharisees they were not confessing Him, so that they would not be 45excommunicated from the synagogue; 4346for they loved the 47approval of people rather than the 48approval of God.

44Now Jesus cried out and said, “49The one who believes in Me, does not believe only in Me, but also in Him who sent Me. 45And 50the one who sees Me sees Him who sent Me. 4651I have come as Light into the world, so that no one who believes in Me will remain in darkness. 47If anyone hears My 52teachings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for 53I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. 4854The one who rejects Me and does not 55accept My 56teachings has one who judges him: 57the word which I spoke. That will judge him on 58the last day. 4959For I did not speak 60on My own, but the Father Himself who sent Me 61has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak. 50And I know that 62His commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak 63just as the Father has told Me.”
