James 5:10-20
10As an example, 1brothers and sisters, of suffering and patience, take 2the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11We count those 3blessed who endured. You have heard of 4the 5endurance of Job and have seen 6the 7outcome of the Lord’s dealings, that 8the Lord is full of compassion and is merciful.
12But above all, 9my brothers and sisters, 10do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath; but 11your yes is to be yes, and your no, no, so that you do not fall under judgment.
13Is anyone among you 12suffering? 13Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to 14sing praises. 14Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for 15the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, 1617anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; 15and the 18prayer of faith will 1920restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will 21raise him up, and if he has committed sins, 22they will be forgiven him. 16Therefore, 23confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be 24healed. 25A 26prayer of a righteous person, when it is 27brought about, can accomplish much. 17Elijah was 28a man with a nature like ours, and 29he prayed 30earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for 31three years and six months. 18Then he 32prayed again, and 33the sky 34poured rain and the earth produced its fruit.
19My brothers and sisters, 35if anyone among you strays from 36the truth and someone turns him back, 20let him know that the one who has turned a sinner from the error of his way will 37save his soul from death and 38cover a multitude of sins.
