James 3:12-18

12 1Can a fig tree, my brothers and sisters, bear olives, or a vine bear figs? Nor can salt water produce 2fresh.

13Who among you is wise and understanding? 3Let him show by his 4good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. 14But if you have bitter 5jealousy and 6selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against 7the truth. 15This wisdom is not that which comes down 8from above, but is 9earthly, 10 11natural, 12demonic. 16For where 13jealousy and 14selfish ambition exist, 15there is disorder and every evil thing. 17But the wisdom 16from above is first 17pure, then 18peace-loving, 19gentle, 20reasonable, 21full of mercy and good fruits, 22 23impartial, free of 24hypocrisy. 18And the 25fruit of righteousness is sown in peace 26by those who make peace.
