2 Thessalonians 2

Man of Lawlessness

1Now we ask you, 1brothers and sisters, regarding the 23coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our 4gathering together to Him, 2that you not be quickly shaken from your 5composure or be disturbed either by a 6spirit, or a 78message, or a 9letter as if from us, to the effect that 10the day of the Lord 11has come. 312No one is to deceive you in any way! For it will not come unless the 1314apostasy comes first, and the 15man of lawlessness is revealed, the 16son of destruction, 4who opposes and exalts himself above 1718every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, 19displaying himself as being God. 5Do you not remember that 20while I was still with you, I was telling you these things? 6And you know 21what restrains him now, so that he will be revealed in his time. 7For 22the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only 2324He who now restrains will do so until 25He is 26removed. 8Then that lawless one 27will be revealed, whom the Lord will eliminate 28with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the 29appearance of His 30coming; 9that is, the one whose 31coming is in accord with the activity of 32Satan, with all power and false 3334signs and wonders, 10and with 35all the deception of wickedness for 36those who perish, because they did not accept the love of 37the truth so as to be saved. 11For this reason 38God 39will send upon them 40a 41deluding influence so that they will believe 42what is false, 12in order that they all may be 43judged who 44did not believe the truth, but 4546took pleasure in wickedness.

Stand Firm

1347But we should always give thanks to God for you, 48brothers and sisters beloved by the Lord, because 49God has chosen you 50from the beginning 51for salvation 5253through sanctification 54by the Spirit and faith in the truth. 14It was for this He 55called you through 56our gospel, 57that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15So then, brothers and sisters, 58stand firm and 59hold on to the traditions which you were taught, whether 60by word of mouth or 61by letter 62from us.

1663Now may our Lord Jesus Christ 64Himself and God our Father, who has 65loved us and given us eternal comfort and 66good hope by grace, 1767comfort and 68strengthen your hearts in every good work and word.
