Galatians 2:6-14
6But from those who 1were of considerable 2repute (what they were makes no difference to me; 3God shows no favoritism)--well, those who were of repute contributed nothing to me. 7But on the contrary, seeing that I had been 4entrusted with the 5gospel 6to the uncircumcised, just as 7Peter had been 8to the circumcised 8(for He who was at work for Peter in his 9apostleship 10to the circumcised was at work for me also to the Gentiles), 9and recognizing 11the grace that had been given to me, 1213James and 1415Cephas and John, who were 16reputed to be 17pillars, gave to me and 18Barnabas the 19right 20hand of fellowship, so that we might 21go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcised. 10They only asked us to remember the poor--22the very thing I also was eager to do.
11But when 23Cephas came to 24Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he 25stood condemned. 12For prior to the coming of some men from 2627James, he used to 28eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he began to withdraw and separate himself, 29fearing those from the circumcision. 13The rest of the Jews joined him in hypocrisy, with the result that even 30Barnabas was carried away by their hypocrisy. 14But when I saw that they 31were not 32straightforward about 33the truth of the gospel, I said to 34Cephas in the presence of all, “If you, being a Jew, 35live like the Gentiles and not like the Jews, how is it that you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews?36
