Galatians 2:6-14
6But from those who 1were of high 2reputation (what they were makes no difference to me; 3God 4shows no partiality)--well, those who were of reputation contributed nothing to me. 7But on the contrary, seeing that I had been 5entrusted with the 6gospel 7to the uncircumcised, just as 8Peter had been 9to the circumcised 8(for He who effectually worked for Peter in his 10apostleship 11to the circumcised effectually worked for me also to the Gentiles), 9and recognizing 12the grace that had been given to me, 1314James and 15Cephas and John, who were 16reputed to be 17pillars, gave to me and 18Barnabas the 19right 20hand of fellowship, so that we might 21go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised. 10They only asked us to remember the poor--22the very thing I also was eager to do.
11But when 23Cephas came to 24Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he 25stood condemned. 12For prior to the coming of certain men from 2627James, he used to 28eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he began to withdraw and hold himself aloof, 29fearing 30the party of the circumcision. 13The rest of the Jews joined him in hypocrisy, with the result that even 31Barnabas was carried away by their hypocrisy. 14But when I saw that they 32were not 33straightforward about 34the truth of the gospel, I said to 35Cephas in the presence of all, “If you, being a Jew, 36live like the Gentiles and not like the Jews, how is it that you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews?37
