Colossians 2:6-23

6Therefore, as you have received 1Christ Jesus the Lord, so 23walk in Him, 7having been firmly 4rooted and now being 5built up in Him and 6established 7in 8your faith, just as you 9were instructed, and overflowing 10with gratitude.

811See to it that there is no one who takes you captive through 12philosophy and empty deception in accordance with human tradition, in accordance with the 13elementary principles of the world, 14rather than in accordance with Christ. 9For in Him all the 15fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, 10and in Him you have been 16made 17complete, and 18He is the head 19over every 20ruler and authority; 11and in Him 21you were also circumcised with a circumcision performed without hands, in the removal of 22the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ, 12having been 23buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also 24raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who 25raised Him from the dead. 13And 26when you were 27dead 28in your wrongdoings and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He 29made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our wrongdoings, 14having canceled 30the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and 31He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15When He had 3233disarmed the 34rulers and authorities, He 35made a public display of them, having 36triumphed over them through 37Him.

16Therefore, no one is to 3839act as your judge in regard to 40food and 41drink, or in respect to a 42festival or a 43new moon, or a 44Sabbath 45day-- 17things which are only a 46shadow of what is to come; but the 47substance 48belongs to Christ. 18Take care that no one keeps 4950defrauding you of your prize by 51delighting in humility and the worship of the angels, 52taking his stand on visions he has seen, 5354inflated without cause by his 55fleshly mind, 19and not holding firmly to 56the head, from whom 57the entire body, being supplied and held together by the joints and 58ligaments, grows with a growth 59which is from God.

2060If you have died with Christ 61to the 62elementary principles of the world, 63why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to 64decrees, such as, 21“Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!” 22(which all refer 65to things destined to perish 66with use)--in accordance with the 67commandments and teachings of man? 23These are matters which do have the 68appearance of wisdom in 6970self-made religion and humility and 71severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against 72fleshly indulgence.
