Colossians 3

Put On the New Self

1Therefore, if you have been 1raised with Christ, keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, 2seated at the right hand of God. 234Set your minds on the things that are above, not on the things that are on earth. 3For you have 5died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4When Christ, 6who is our life, is revealed, 7then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.

58Therefore, 9treat 10the parts of your earthly body as dead to 11sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which 12amounts to idolatry. 6For it is because of these things that 13the wrath of God is coming 14upon the 15sons of disobedience, 7and 16in them you also once walked, when you were living 17in them. 8But now you also, 18rid yourselves of all of them: 19anger, wrath, malice, slander, and 20obscene speech from your mouth. 92122Do not lie to one another, since you 23stripped off the old 24self with its evil practices, 10and have 25put on the new self, which is being 2627renewed to a true knowledge 28according to the image of the One who 29created it-- 11a renewal in which 30there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, 31circumcised and uncircumcised, 3233barbarian, 34Scythian, 35slave, and free, but 36Christ is all, and in all.

12So, as those who have been 37chosen of God, holy and beloved, 38put on a 39heart of compassion, kindness, 40humility, gentleness, and 4142patience; 1343bearing with one another, and 44forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; 45just as the Lord forgave you, so must you do also. 14In addition to all these things put on love, which is 4647the perfect bond of 48unity. 15Let 49the peace of Christ, to which you were 50indeed called in 51one body, 52rule in your hearts; and 53be thankful. 16Let 54the word of 55Christ richly dwell within you, 56with all wisdom 57teaching and admonishing 58one another 59with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, 60singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 1761Whatever you do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, 62giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

Family Relations

1863Wives, 64be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. 1965Husbands, love your wives and do not become bitter against them. 2066Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing 67to the Lord. 2168Fathers, do not 69antagonize your children, so that they will not become discouraged.

227071Slaves, obey those who are your 72human masters in everything, 73not with 74eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. 23Whatever you do, do your work 75heartily, 76as for the Lord and not for people, 2477knowing that it is from the Lord that you will receive the reward 78of 79the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you 80serve. 25For 81the one who does wrong will receive the consequences of the wrong which he has done, and 8283that without partiality.
