Acts 2:21-47
21And it shall be that 1everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’
22“Men of Israel, listen to these words: 2Jesus the Nazarene, 3a Man 4attested to you by God with 5miracles and 6wonders and 7signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know-- 23this Man, delivered over by the 8predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, 9you nailed to a cross by the hands of 10godless men and put Him to death. 2411But 12God raised Him from the dead, putting an end to the 13agony of death, since it 14was impossible for Him to be held 15in its power. 25For David says of Him, ‘16I saw the Lord continually before me, Because He is at my right hand, so that I will not be shaken.26Therefore my heart was glad and my tongue was overjoyed; Moreover my flesh also will live in hope;27For You will not abandon my soul to 17Hades, 18Nor will You 19allow Your 20Holy One to 21undergo decay.28You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of gladness with Your presence.’
29“22Brothers, I may confidently say to you regarding the 23patriarch David that he both 24died and 25was buried, and 26his tomb is 27with us to this day. 30So because he was 28a prophet and knew that 29God had sworn to him with an oath to seat one 30of his descendants on his throne, 31he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of the 31Christ, that 32He was neither abandoned to Hades, nor did His flesh 33suffer decay. 32It is this Jesus whom 34God raised up, 35a fact to which we are all 36witnesses. 33Therefore, 37since He has been exalted 3839at the right hand of God, and 40has received 41the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father, He has 42poured out this which you both see and hear. 34For it was not David who ascended into 43heaven, but he himself says: ‘44The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand,35Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”’ 36Therefore let all the 45house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both 46Lord and 47Christ--this Jesus 48whom you crucified.”
37Now when they heard this, they were 49pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “50Brothers, 51what are we to do?” 38Peter said to them, “52Repent, and each of you be 53baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39For 54the promise is for you and your children and for all who are 55far away, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.” 40And with many other words he solemnly 56testified and kept on urging them, saying, “57Be saved from this 58perverse generation!” 41So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand 5960souls. 42They were 61continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to 62the breaking of bread and 63to 64prayer.
4365Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many 66wonders and 67signs were taking place through the apostles. 44And all the believers 68were together and 69had all things in common; 45and they 70would sell their property and possessions and share them with all, to the extent that anyone had need. 4671Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and 72breaking bread 73from house to house, they were taking their 74meals together with gladness and 75sincerity of heart, 47praising God and 76having favor with all the people. And the Lord 77was adding to 78their number day by day 79those who were being saved.
