Acts 2:21-47

21And it shall be that 1everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

22“Men of Israel, listen to these words: 2Jesus the Nazarene, 3a man 4attested to you by God with 5miracles and 6wonders and 7signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know-- 23this Man, delivered over by the 8predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, 9you nailed to a cross by the hands of 10godless men and put Him to death. 2411But 12God raised Him up again, putting an end to the 13agony of death, since it 14was impossible for Him to be held 15in its power. 25For David says of Him, ‘16I saw the Lord always in my presence; For He is at my right hand, so that I will not be shaken.26Therefore my heart was glad and my tongue exulted; Moreover my flesh also will live in hope;27Because You will not abandon my soul to 17Hades, 18Nor 19allow Your 20Holy One to 21undergo decay.28You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of gladness with Your presence.’

29“22Brethren, I may confidently say to you regarding the 23patriarch David that he both 24died and 25was buried, and 26his tomb is 27with us to this day. 30And so, because he was 28a prophet and knew that 29God had sworn to him with an oath to seat one 30of his descendants on his throne, 31he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of 31the Christ, that 32He was neither abandoned to Hades, nor did His flesh 33suffer decay. 32This Jesus 34God raised up again, to which we are all 35witnesses. 33Therefore having been exalted 3637to the right hand of God, and 38having received from the Father 39the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has 40poured forth this which you both see and hear. 34For it was not David who ascended into 41heaven, but he himself says: ‘42The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand,35Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”’ 36Therefore let all the 43house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both 44Lord and 45Christ--this Jesus 46whom you crucified.”

37Now when they heard this, they were 47pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “48Brethren, 4950what shall we do?” 38Peter said to them, “51Repent, and each of you be 52baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39For 53the promise is for you and your children and for all who are 54far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.” 40And with many other words he solemnly 55testified and kept on exhorting them, saying, “56Be saved from this 57perverse generation!” 41So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand 5859souls. 42They were 60continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to 61the breaking of bread and 6263to prayer.

4364Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many 65wonders and 66signs were taking place through the apostles. 44And all those who had believed 67were together and 68had all things in common; 45and they 69began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. 4670Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and 71breaking bread 72from house to house, they were taking their 73meals together with gladness and 74sincerity of heart, 47praising God and 75having favor with all the people. And the Lord 76was adding 77to their number day by day 78those who were being saved.
