Acts 1:2-11

2until the day when He 1was taken up to heaven, after He 2had given orders 3by the Holy Spirit to 4the apostles whom He had 5chosen. 3To 6these 7He also presented Himself alive after His suffering, by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking of 8things regarding the kingdom of God. 49Gathering them together, He commanded them 10not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for 1112what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me; 5for 13John baptized 14with water, but you will be baptized 15with the Holy Spirit 1617not many days from now.”

6So, when they had come together, they began asking Him, saying, “Lord, 18is it at this time that You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?” 7But He said to them, “It is not for you to know periods of time or appointed times which 19the Father has set by His own authority; 8but you will receive power 20when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be 21My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and 22Samaria, and as far as 23the remotest part of the earth.” 9And after He had said these things, 24He was lifted up while they were watching, and a cloud took Him up, out of their sight. 10And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, then behold, 25two men in white clothing stood beside them, 11and they said, “26Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who 27has been taken up from you into heaven, will 28come in the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”
