1 Corinthians 10:5-15

5Nevertheless, with most of them God was not pleased; for their dead bodies were 1spread out in the wilderness.

6Now these things happened as 2examples for us, so that we would not crave evil things as 3they indeed craved them. 7Do not be 4idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: “5The people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to 6play.” 8Nor are we to commit sexual immorality, as 7some of them 8did, and 9twenty-three thousand fell in one day. 9Nor are we to put the Lord to the test, as 10some of them 11did, and were killed by the snakes. 10Nor 12grumble, as some of them 13did, and 14were killed by the 15destroyer. 11Now these things happened to them as an 16example, and 17they were written for our instruction, upon whom 18the ends of the ages have come. 12Therefore let the one who 19thinks he stands watch out that he does not fall. 13No temptation has overtaken you except something common to mankind; and 20God is faithful, 21so He will not allow you to be 22tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

14Therefore, my 23beloved, flee from 24idolatry. 15I speak as to wise people; you then, judge what I say.
