Judges 13:2-24
2There was a certainH259 manH376 of 1ZorahH6881, of the familyH4940 of the DanitesH1839, whose nameH8034 was ManoahH4495; and his wifeH802 was barrenH6135 and had borneH3205 noH3808 children. 32Then the angelH4397 of the LordH3068 appearedH7200 to the womanH802 and saidH559 to her, “BeholdH2009 nowH4994, you are barrenH6135 and have borneH3205 noH3808 children, but you shall conceiveH2029 and giveH3205 birthH3205 to a sonH1121. 4NowH6258 therefore, be carefulH8104 3not to drinkH8354 wineH3196 or strongH7941 drinkH7941, norH408 eatH398 anyH3605 uncleanH2931 thingH2931. 54For beholdH2009, you shall conceiveH2030 and giveH3205 birthH3205 to a sonH1121, and noH3808 razorH4177 shall comeH5927 upon his headH7218, for the boyH5288 shall be a 5NaziriteH5139 to GodH430 from the wombH990; and he shall beginH2490 to deliverH3467 IsraelH3478 from the handsH3027 of the PhilistinesH6430.” 6Then the womanH802 cameH935 and toldH559 her husbandH376, sayingH559, “6A manH376 of GodH430 cameH935 to me and his appearanceH4758 was like the appearanceH4758 of the angelH4397 of GodH430, veryH3966 awesomeH3372. And I did not askH7592 him whereH335 he came from, norH3808 did he tellH5046 me his nameH8034. 7But he saidH559 to me, ‘BeholdH2009, you shall conceiveH2030 and giveH3205 birthH3205 to a sonH1121, and nowH6258 you shall not drinkH8354 wineH3196 or strongH7941 drinkH7941 norH408 eatH398 anyH3605 uncleanH2932 thingH2932, for the boyH5288 shall be a NaziriteH5139 to GodH430 from the wombH990 to the dayH3117 of his deathH4194.’”
8Then ManoahH4495 entreatedH6279 the LordH3068 and saidH559, “OH994 LordH136, pleaseH994H4994 let 7the manH376 of GodH430 whomH834 You have sentH7971 comeH935 to us againH5750 that he may teachH3384 us whatH4100 to doH6213 for the boyH5288 who is to be bornH3205.” 9GodH430 listenedH8085 to the voiceH6963 of ManoahH4495; and 8the angelH4397 of GodH430 cameH935 againH5750 to the womanH802 as she was sittingH3427 in the fieldH7704, but ManoahH4495 her husbandH376 was not with her. 10So the womanH802 ranH7323 quicklyH4116 and toldH5046 her 9husbandH376, “BeholdH2009, 10the manH376 whoH834 11cameH935 the other dayH3117 has appearedH7200 to me.” 11Then ManoahH4495 aroseH6965 and followedH1980H310 his wifeH802, and when he cameH935 to the manH376 he saidH559 to him, “Are you 12the manH376 whoH834 spokeH1696 to the womanH802?” And he saidH559, “I am.” 12ManoahH4495 saidH559, “NowH6258 when your wordsH1697 comeH935 to pass, whatH4100 shall be the boy’sH5288 modeH4941 of lifeH4941 and his vocationH4639?” 13So 13the angelH4397 of the LordH3068 saidH559 to ManoahH4495, “14Let the womanH802 payH8104 attentionH8104 15to allH3605 that I saidH559. 14She should not eatH398 anythingH3605 that comesH3318 from the 16vineH1612 norH408 drinkH8354 wineH3196 or strongH7941 drinkH7941, norH408 eatH398 anyH3605 uncleanH2932 thingH2932; let her observeH8104 allH3605 that I commandedH6680.”
15Then ManoahH4495 saidH559 to 17the angelH4397 of the LordH3068, “PleaseH4994 let us detainH6113 you so that we may prepareH6213 a youngH1423H5795 goatH1423H5795 for you.” 16The angelH4397 of the LordH3068 saidH559 to ManoahH4495, “ThoughH518 you detainH6113 me, 18I will not eatH398 your 19foodH3899, but ifH518 you prepareH6213 a burntH5930 offeringH5930, then offerH5927 it to the LordH3068.” For ManoahH4495 did not knowH3045 that he was the angelH4397 of the LordH3068. 17ManoahH4495 saidH559 to the angelH4397 of the LordH3068, “20WhatH4310 is your nameH8034, so that when your wordsH1697 comeH935 to pass, we may honorH3513 you?” 18But the angelH4397 of the LordH3068 saidH559 to him, “WhyH4100 do you askH7592 my nameH8034, seeing it is 2122wonderfulH6383?” 19So 23ManoahH4495 tookH3947 the youngH1423H5795 goatH1423H5795 with the grain offeringH4503 and offeredH5927 it on the rockH6697 to the LordH3068, and He performedH6213 wondersH6381 while ManoahH4495 and his wifeH802 lookedH7200 on. 20For it cameH1961 about when the flameH3851 wentH5927 up from the altarH4196 toward heavenH8064, that the angelH4397 of the LordH3068 ascendedH5927 in the flameH3851 of the altarH4196. When ManoahH4495 and his wifeH802 sawH7200 this, they 24fellH5307 on their facesH6440 to the groundH776.
21Now the angelH4397 of the LordH3068 did not appearH7200 to ManoahH4495 or his wifeH802 againH3254H5750. 25ThenH227 ManoahH4495 knewH3045 that he was the angelH4397 of the LordH3068. 22So ManoahH4495 saidH559 to his wifeH802, “26We will surelyH4191 dieH4191, for we have seenH7200 GodH430.” 23But his wifeH802 saidH559 to him, “IfH3863 the LordH3068 had desiredH2654 to killH4191 us, He would not have acceptedH3947 a burntH5930 offeringH5930 and a grain offeringH4503 from our handsH3027, norH3808 would He have 27shownH7200 us allH3605 theseH428 thingsH428, norH3808 would He have let us hearH8085 things like thisH2088 at this timeH6256.”
24Then the womanH802 gaveH3205 birthH3205 to a sonH1121 and namedH7121H8034 him SamsonH8123; and the 28childH5288 grewH1431 up and the LordH3068 blessedH1288 him.
