Habakkuk 2:6-20
“Will not allH3605 of theseH428 1takeH5375 up a taunt-songH4912 againstH5921 him, Even mockeryH4426 and insinuationsH2420 against him And sayH559, ‘2WoeH1945 to him who increasesH7235 what is not his-- For howH4970 longH5704H4970-- And makesH3513 himself 3richH3513 with loansH5671?’7Will not 4your creditorsH5391 5riseH6965 up suddenlyH6621, And those who 6collectH2111 from you awakenH3364? Indeed, you will becomeH1961 plunderH4933 for them.8BecauseH3588 you have 7lootedH7997 manyH7227 nationsH1471, AllH3605 the remainderH3499 of the peoplesH5971 will lootH7997 you-- BecauseH4480 of humanH120 bloodshedH1818 and violenceH2555 8done to the landH776, To the townH7151 and allH3605 its inhabitantsH3427.
“WoeH1945 to him who getsH1214 9evilH7451 gainH1215 for his houseH1004 To 10putH7760 his nestH7064 on highH4791, To be deliveredH5337 from the handH3709 of calamityH7451!10You have devisedH3289 a 11shamefulH1322 thingH1322 for your houseH1004 By cuttingH7096 offH7096 manyH7227 peoplesH5971; So you are 12sinningH2398 against yourselfH5315.11SurelyH3588 the 13stoneH68 will cryH2199 out from the wallH7023, And the rafterH3714 will answerH6030 it from the 14frameworkH6086.
“WoeH1945 to him who 15buildsH1129 a cityH5892 with bloodshedH1818 And foundsH3559 a townH7151 with 16violenceH5767!13Is it not indeedH2009 from the LordH3068 of hostsH6635 That peoplesH5971 17toilH3021 for fireH784, And nationsH3816 growH3286 wearyH3286 for nothingH7385?14For the earthH776 will be 18filledH4390 With the knowledgeH3045 of the gloryH3519 of the LordH3068, As the watersH4325 coverH3680 the seaH3220.
“WoeH1945 to you who make 19your neighborsH7453 drinkH8248, Who mixH5596 in your venomH2534 evenH637 to makeH7937 them drunkH7937 SoH4616 as to lookH5027 on their nakednessH4589!16You will be filledH7646 with disgraceH7036 ratherH4480 thanH4480 honorH3519. NowH1571 you yourselfH859 20drinkH8354 and 21exposeH6188 your own nakednessH6188. The 22cupH3563 in the Lord’sH3068 rightH3225 handH3225 will comeH5437 aroundH5437 to you, And 23utterH7022 disgraceH7022 will come upon your gloryH3519.17For the 24violenceH2555 25done to LebanonH3844 will 26overwhelmH3680 you, And the devastationH7701 of its beastsH929 27by which you terrifiedH2865 them, 28BecauseH4480 of humanH120 bloodshedH1818 and 29violenceH2555 30done to the landH776, To the townH7151 and allH3605 its inhabitantsH3427.
“WhatH4100 31profitH3276 is the 32idolH6459 whenH3588 its makerH3335 has carvedH6458 it, Or 33an imageH4541, a 34teacherH3384 of falsehoodH8267? For its makerH3335 35trustsH982 in his own handiworkH3336 When he fashionsH6213 speechlessH483 idolsH457.19WoeH1945 to him who 36saysH559 to a piece of woodH6086, ‘37AwakeH7019!’ To a muteH1748 stoneH68, ‘AriseH5782!’ And that is your teacherH3384? BeholdH2009, it is overlaidH8610 with 38goldH2091 and silverH3701, And thereH369 is 39noH369 breathH7307 at allH3605 insideH7130 it.20But the 40LordH3068 is in His holyH6944 templeH1964. 41Let allH3605 the earthH776 42be silentH2013 beforeH4480H6440 Him.”
