Habakkuk 2:3-20
For the visionH2377 is yetH5750 for the 1appointedH4150 timeH4150; It 2hastensH6315 toward the goalH7093 and it will not 3failH3576. ThoughH518 it tarriesH4102, 4waitH2442 for it; For it will certainlyH935 comeH935, it 5will not delayH309.
“BeholdH2009, as for the 6proudH6075 one, His soulH5315 is not rightH3474 within him; But the 7righteousH6662 will liveH2421 by his 8faithH530.5FurthermoreH637, 9wineH3196 betraysH898 the 10haughtyH3093 manH1397, So that he does not 11stayH5115 at homeH5115. He 12enlargesH7337 his appetiteH5315 like SheolH7585, And he is like deathH4194, neverH3808 satisfiedH7646. He also gathersH622 to himself allH3605 nationsH1471 And collectsH622 to himself allH3605 peoplesH5971.
“Will not allH3605 of theseH428 13takeH5375 up a taunt-songH4912 againstH5921 him, Even mockeryH4426 and insinuationsH2420 against him And sayH559, ‘14WoeH1945 to him who increasesH7235 what is not his-- For howH4970 longH5704H4970-- And makesH3513 himself 15richH3513 with loansH5671?’7Will not 16your creditorsH5391 17riseH6965 up suddenlyH6621, And those who 18collectH2111 from you awakenH3364? Indeed, you will becomeH1961 plunderH4933 for them.8BecauseH3588 you have 19lootedH7997 manyH7227 nationsH1471, AllH3605 the remainderH3499 of the peoplesH5971 will lootH7997 you-- BecauseH4480 of humanH120 bloodshedH1818 and violenceH2555 20done to the landH776, To the townH7151 and allH3605 its inhabitantsH3427.
“WoeH1945 to him who getsH1214 21evilH7451 gainH1215 for his houseH1004 To 22putH7760 his nestH7064 on highH4791, To be deliveredH5337 from the handH3709 of calamityH7451!10You have devisedH3289 a 23shamefulH1322 thingH1322 for your houseH1004 By cuttingH7096 offH7096 manyH7227 peoplesH5971; So you are 24sinningH2398 against yourselfH5315.11SurelyH3588 the 25stoneH68 will cryH2199 out from the wallH7023, And the rafterH3714 will answerH6030 it from the 26frameworkH6086.
“WoeH1945 to him who 27buildsH1129 a cityH5892 with bloodshedH1818 And foundsH3559 a townH7151 with 28violenceH5767!13Is it not indeedH2009 from the LordH3068 of hostsH6635 That peoplesH5971 29toilH3021 for fireH784, And nationsH3816 growH3286 wearyH3286 for nothingH7385?14For the earthH776 will be 30filledH4390 With the knowledgeH3045 of the gloryH3519 of the LordH3068, As the watersH4325 coverH3680 the seaH3220.
“WoeH1945 to you who make 31your neighborsH7453 drinkH8248, Who mixH5596 in your venomH2534 evenH637 to makeH7937 them drunkH7937 SoH4616 as to lookH5027 on their nakednessH4589!16You will be filledH7646 with disgraceH7036 ratherH4480 thanH4480 honorH3519. NowH1571 you yourselfH859 32drinkH8354 and 33exposeH6188 your own nakednessH6188. The 34cupH3563 in the Lord’sH3068 rightH3225 handH3225 will comeH5437 aroundH5437 to you, And 35utterH7022 disgraceH7022 will come upon your gloryH3519.17For the 36violenceH2555 37done to LebanonH3844 will 38overwhelmH3680 you, And the devastationH7701 of its beastsH929 39by which you terrifiedH2865 them, 40BecauseH4480 of humanH120 bloodshedH1818 and 41violenceH2555 42done to the landH776, To the townH7151 and allH3605 its inhabitantsH3427.
“WhatH4100 43profitH3276 is the 44idolH6459 whenH3588 its makerH3335 has carvedH6458 it, Or 45an imageH4541, a 46teacherH3384 of falsehoodH8267? For its makerH3335 47trustsH982 in his own handiworkH3336 When he fashionsH6213 speechlessH483 idolsH457.19WoeH1945 to him who 48saysH559 to a piece of woodH6086, ‘49AwakeH7019!’ To a muteH1748 stoneH68, ‘AriseH5782!’ And that is your teacherH3384? BeholdH2009, it is overlaidH8610 with 50goldH2091 and silverH3701, And thereH369 is 51noH369 breathH7307 at allH3605 insideH7130 it.20But the 52LordH3068 is in His holyH6944 templeH1964. 53Let allH3605 the earthH776 54be silentH2013 beforeH4480H6440 Him.”
