Habakkuk 2:2-20
Then the LordH3068 answeredH6030 me and saidH559, “1RecordH3789 the visionH2377 And inscribeH874 it on tabletsH3871, That 2the one who 3readsH7121 it may runH7323.3For the visionH2377 is yetH5750 for the 4appointedH4150 timeH4150; It 5hastensH6315 toward the goalH7093 and it will not 6failH3576. ThoughH518 it tarriesH4102, 7waitH2442 for it; For it will certainlyH935 comeH935, it 8will not delayH309.
“BeholdH2009, as for the 9proudH6075 one, His soulH5315 is not rightH3474 within him; But the 10righteousH6662 will liveH2421 by his 11faithH530.5FurthermoreH637, 12wineH3196 betraysH898 the 13haughtyH3093 manH1397, So that he does not 14stayH5115 at homeH5115. He 15enlargesH7337 his appetiteH5315 like SheolH7585, And he is like deathH4194, neverH3808 satisfiedH7646. He also gathersH622 to himself allH3605 nationsH1471 And collectsH622 to himself allH3605 peoplesH5971.
“Will not allH3605 of theseH428 16takeH5375 up a taunt-songH4912 againstH5921 him, Even mockeryH4426 and insinuationsH2420 against him And sayH559, ‘17WoeH1945 to him who increasesH7235 what is not his-- For howH4970 longH5704H4970-- And makesH3513 himself 18richH3513 with loansH5671?’7Will not 19your creditorsH5391 20riseH6965 up suddenlyH6621, And those who 21collectH2111 from you awakenH3364? Indeed, you will becomeH1961 plunderH4933 for them.8BecauseH3588 you have 22lootedH7997 manyH7227 nationsH1471, AllH3605 the remainderH3499 of the peoplesH5971 will lootH7997 you-- BecauseH4480 of humanH120 bloodshedH1818 and violenceH2555 23done to the landH776, To the townH7151 and allH3605 its inhabitantsH3427.
“WoeH1945 to him who getsH1214 24evilH7451 gainH1215 for his houseH1004 To 25putH7760 his nestH7064 on highH4791, To be deliveredH5337 from the handH3709 of calamityH7451!10You have devisedH3289 a 26shamefulH1322 thingH1322 for your houseH1004 By cuttingH7096 offH7096 manyH7227 peoplesH5971; So you are 27sinningH2398 against yourselfH5315.11SurelyH3588 the 28stoneH68 will cryH2199 out from the wallH7023, And the rafterH3714 will answerH6030 it from the 29frameworkH6086.
“WoeH1945 to him who 30buildsH1129 a cityH5892 with bloodshedH1818 And foundsH3559 a townH7151 with 31violenceH5767!13Is it not indeedH2009 from the LordH3068 of hostsH6635 That peoplesH5971 32toilH3021 for fireH784, And nationsH3816 growH3286 wearyH3286 for nothingH7385?14For the earthH776 will be 33filledH4390 With the knowledgeH3045 of the gloryH3519 of the LordH3068, As the watersH4325 coverH3680 the seaH3220.
“WoeH1945 to you who make 34your neighborsH7453 drinkH8248, Who mixH5596 in your venomH2534 evenH637 to makeH7937 them drunkH7937 SoH4616 as to lookH5027 on their nakednessH4589!16You will be filledH7646 with disgraceH7036 ratherH4480 thanH4480 honorH3519. NowH1571 you yourselfH859 35drinkH8354 and 36exposeH6188 your own nakednessH6188. The 37cupH3563 in the Lord’sH3068 rightH3225 handH3225 will comeH5437 aroundH5437 to you, And 38utterH7022 disgraceH7022 will come upon your gloryH3519.17For the 39violenceH2555 40done to LebanonH3844 will 41overwhelmH3680 you, And the devastationH7701 of its beastsH929 42by which you terrifiedH2865 them, 43BecauseH4480 of humanH120 bloodshedH1818 and 44violenceH2555 45done to the landH776, To the townH7151 and allH3605 its inhabitantsH3427.
“WhatH4100 46profitH3276 is the 47idolH6459 whenH3588 its makerH3335 has carvedH6458 it, Or 48an imageH4541, a 49teacherH3384 of falsehoodH8267? For its makerH3335 50trustsH982 in his own handiworkH3336 When he fashionsH6213 speechlessH483 idolsH457.19WoeH1945 to him who 51saysH559 to a piece of woodH6086, ‘52AwakeH7019!’ To a muteH1748 stoneH68, ‘AriseH5782!’ And that is your teacherH3384? BeholdH2009, it is overlaidH8610 with 53goldH2091 and silverH3701, And thereH369 is 54noH369 breathH7307 at allH3605 insideH7130 it.20But the 55LordH3068 is in His holyH6944 templeH1964. 56Let allH3605 the earthH776 57be silentH2013 beforeH4480H6440 Him.”
