The Flying Scroll

1Then I liftedוָאֶשָּׂ֥אva.'e.Sa'H5375up my eyesעֵינַ֖י'ei.NaiH5869againוָאָשׁ֕וּבva.'a.ShuvH7725and lookedוָֽאֶרְאֶ֑הva.'er.'EhH7200,and beholdוְהִנֵּ֖הve.hi.NehH2009, there wasa flyingעָפָֽה׃'a.FahH5774scrollמְגִלָּ֥הme.gi.LahH4039.

2And he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to me, “Whatמָ֥הmahH4100do you seeרֹאֶ֑הro.'EhH7200?”And I answeredוָאֹמַ֗רva.'o.MarH559, “I seeרֹאֶה֙ro.'EhH7200a flyingעָפָ֔ה'a.FahH5774scrollמְגִלָּ֣הme.gi.LahH4039;its lengthאָרְכָּהּ֙'a.re.KahH753is twentyעֶשְׂרִ֣ים'es.RimH6242cubitsבָּֽאַמָּ֔הba.'a.MahH520and its widthוְרָחְבָּ֖הּve.ra.che.BahH7341tenעֶ֥שֶׂר'E.serH6235cubitsבָּאַמָּֽה׃ba.'a.MahH520.”

3Then he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to me, “ThisH2088is thecurseהָֽאָלָ֔הha.'a.LahH423that is goingH3318forthהַיּוֹצֵ֖אתhai.yo.TzetH3318overעַל־'al-H5921the faceפְּנֵ֣יpe.NeiH6440of the wholeכָל־khol-H3605landהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776;surelyכִּ֣יkiH3588everyoneכָל־khol-H3605whostealsהַגֹּנֵ֗בha.go.NevH1589will be purgedנִקָּ֔הni.KahH5352away according tothe writing on oneH2088sideH2088,and everyoneוְכָל־ve.kholH3605whoswearsהַנִּ֨שְׁבָּ֔עha.Nish.Ba'H7650will be purgedנִקָּֽה׃ni.KahH5352away according tothe writing on the other sideH2088.

4I willmake it goH3318forthהוֹצֵאתִ֗יהָho.tze.Ti.haH3318,”declaresנְאֻם֙ne.'UmH5002the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068of hostsצְבָא֔וֹתtze.va.'otH6635, “and it willenterוּבָ֙אָה֙u.Va.'ahH935the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of thethiefהַגַּנָּ֔בha.ga.NavH1590and the houseבֵּ֛יתbeitH1004of the one who swearsהַנִּשְׁבָּ֥עha.nish.Ba'H7650falselyלַשָּׁ֑קֶרla.Sha.kerH8267by My nameבִּשְׁמִ֖יbish.MiH8034;and it will spendH3885the nightH3885withinבְּת֣וֹךְbe.TokhH8432that houseבֵּית֔וֹbei.ToH1004andconsumeוְכִלַּ֖תּוּve.khil.La.tuH3615it with its timberעֵצָ֥יו'e.TzavH6086and stonesאֲבָנָֽיו׃'a.va.NavH68.”

5Thenthe angelהַמַּלְאָ֖ךְha.mal.'AkhH4397who was speakingהַדֹּבֵ֣רha.do.VerH1696with me wentH3318out and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to me, “Liftשָׂ֣אsa'H5375up nowנָ֤אna'H4994your eyesעֵינֶ֙יךָ֙'ei.Nei.khaH5869and seeוּרְאֵ֔הu.re.'EhH7200whatמָ֖הmahH4100thisH2088is goingH3318forthH3318.”

6I saidוָאֹמַ֖רva.'o.MarH559, “Whatמַה־mah-H4100is it?” And he saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “ThisH2088is theephahהָֽאֵיפָה֙ha.'ei.FahH374goingH3318forthהַיּוֹצֵ֔אתhai.yo.TzetH3318.”Again he saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “ThisH2088is theirappearanceעֵינָ֖ם'ei.NamH5869in allבְּכָל־be.kholH3605thelandהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776

7(and beholdוְהִנֵּ֛הve.hi.NehH2009,a leadעֹפֶ֖רֶת'o.Fe.retH5777coverכִּכַּ֥רki.KarH3603was liftedנִשֵּׂ֑אתni.SetH5375up); and thisH2088is a womanאִשָּׁ֣ה'i.ShahH802sittingיוֹשֶׁ֖בֶתyo.She.vetH3427insideבְּת֥וֹךְbe.TokhH8432the ephahהָאֵיפָֽה׃ha.'ei.FahH374.”

8Then he saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559, “ThisH2088isWickednessהָרִשְׁעָ֔הha.rish.'AhH7564!”And he threwH7993her downH7993into the middleתּ֣וֹךְTokhH8432of the ephahהָֽאֵיפָ֑הha.'ei.FahH374and castH7993the leadהָעֹפֶ֖רֶתha.'o.Fe.retH5777weightאֶ֥בֶן'E.venH68on itsopeningפִּֽיהָ׃ סPi.haH6310.

9Then I liftedוָאֶשָּׂ֨אva.'e.Sa'H5375up my eyesעֵינַ֜י'ei.NaiH5869and lookedוָאֵ֗רֶאva.'E.re'H7200,and there twoשְׁתַּ֨יִםshe.Ta.yimH8147womenנָשִׁ֤יםna.ShimH802were comingיֽוֹצְאוֹת֙yotz.'OtH3318out with the windוְר֣וּחַve.Ru.achH7307in their wingsבְּכַנְפֵיהֶ֔םbe.khan.fei.HemH3671;and they had wingsכְנָפַ֖יִםkhe.na.Fa.yimH3671like the wingsכְּכַנְפֵ֣יke.khan.FeiH3671of astorkהַחֲסִידָ֑הha.cha.si.DahH2624,and they liftedוַתִּשֶּׂ֙אנָה֙va.ti.Se.nahH5375up the ephahהָ֣אֵיפָ֔הha.'ei.FahH374betweenH996the earthהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776and the heavensהַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃ha.sha.Ma.yimH8064.

10I saidוָאֹמַ֕רva.'o.MarH559to the angelהַמַּלְאָ֖ךְha.mal.'AkhH4397who was speakingהַדֹּבֵ֣רha.do.VerH1696with me, “Whereאָ֛נָה'A.nahH575are they takingמֽוֹלִכ֖וֹתmo.li.KhotH1980the ephahהָאֵיפָֽה׃ha.'ei.FahH374?”

11Then he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to me, “To buildלִבְנֽוֹת־Liv.not-H1129atempleבַ֖יִתVa.yitH1004for her in the landבְּאֶ֣רֶץbe.'E.retzH776ofShinarשִׁנְעָ֑רshin.'ArH8152;and when it is preparedוְהוּכַ֛ןve.hu.KhanH3559,she will be setוְהֻנִּ֥יחָהve.hu.Ni.chahH5117thereשָּׁ֖םshamH8033on her own pedestalH4350.”
