Revelation 21:9-27
91Then one of the seven angels who had the 2seven bowls 3full of the 4seven last plagues came and spoke with me, saying, “5Come here, I will show you the 6bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10And 7he carried me away 89in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me 10the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, 11having 11the glory of God. Her 12brilliance was like a very costly stone, as a 13stone of 14crystal-clear jasper. 1215It had a great and high wall, 1617with twelve 18gates, and at the gates twelve angels; and names were written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel. 13There were three gates on the east and three gates on the north and three gates on the south and three gates on the west. 14And the wall of the city had 19twelve foundation stones, and on them were the twelve names of the 20twelve apostles of the Lamb.
15The one who spoke with me had a 21gold measuring 22rod to measure the city, and its 23gates and its wall. 16The city is laid out as a square, and its length is as great as the width; and he measured the city with the 24rod, 25fifteen hundred miles; its length and width and height are equal. 17And he measured its wall, 26seventy-two yards, according to 27human 28measurements, which are also 29angelic measurements. 18The material of the wall was 30jasper; and the city was 31pure gold, like 32clear 33glass. 1934The foundation stones of the city wall were adorned with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation stone was 35jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, 36emerald; 20the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, 37sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprase; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst. 21And the twelve 38gates were twelve 39pearls; each one of the gates was a single pearl. And the street of the city was 40pure gold, like transparent 41glass.
22I saw 42no 43temple in it, for the 44Lord God the Almighty and the 45Lamb are its 46temple. 23And the city 47has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for 48the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the 49Lamb. 2450The nations will walk by its light, and the 51kings of the earth 52will bring their glory into it. 25In the daytime (for 53there will be no night there) 54its gates 55will never be closed; 26and 56they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it; 27and 57nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those 58whose names are 59written in the Lamb’s book of life.
