Hebrews 3

Jesus Our High Priest

1Therefore, 1holy brethren, partakers of a 2heavenly calling, consider Jesus, 3the Apostle and 4High Priest of our 5confession; 26He was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as 7Moses also was in all His house. 38For He has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, by just so much as the builder of the house has more honor than the house. 4For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God. 5Now 9Moses was faithful in all His house as 10a servant, 11for a testimony of those things 12which were to be spoken later; 6but Christ was faithful as 13a Son over His house--14whose house we are, 15if we hold fast our 16confidence and the boast of our 17hope firm until the end.

7Therefore, just as 18the Holy Spirit says, “19Today if you hear His voice,820Do not harden your hearts as 21when they provoked Me, As in the day of trial in the wilderness,922Where your fathers tried Me by testing Me, And saw My works for 23forty years.1024Therefore I was angry with this generation, And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart, And they did not know My ways’;1125As I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’”

The Peril of Unbelief

1226Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart 27that falls away from 28the living God. 13But 29encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the 30deceitfulness of sin. 14For we have become partakers of Christ, 31if we hold fast the beginning of our 32assurance firm until the end, 15while it is said, “33Today if you hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts, as 34when they provoked Me.” 16For who 35provoked Him when they had heard? Indeed, 36did not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses? 17And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, 37whose bodies fell in the wilderness? 18And to whom did He swear 38that they would not enter His rest, but to those who were 39disobedient? 19So we see that they were not able to enter because of 40unbelief.
