The Doomed Flock

1OpenH6605 your doorsH1817, O LebanonH3844, that the fireH784 may consumeH398 your cedarsH730!2WailH3213, O cypressH1265,1 forH3588 the cedarH730 has fallenH5307; the majesticH117 trees are ruinedH7703! WailH3213, O oaksH437 of BashanH1316, forH3588 the denseH1208 forestH3293 has been cut downH3381!3Listen toH6963 the wailingH3215 of the shepherdsH7462, forH3588 their gloryH155H6963 is in ruinsH7703. Listen to the roaringH7581 of the young lionsH3715, forH3588 the thicketsH1347 of the JordanH3383 are destroyedH7703.

4This is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 my GodH430 saysH559: “PastureH7462 the flockH6629 marked for slaughterH2028, 5whoseH834 buyersH7069 slaughter themH2026 withoutH3808 remorseH816. Those who sell themH4376 sayH559, ‘Blessed beH1288 the LORDH3068, for I am richH6238!’ Even their own shepherdsH7462 have noH3808 compassionH2550 on themH5921.

6ForH3588 I will noH3808 longerH5750 have compassionH2550 onH5921 the peopleH3427 of the landH776, declaresH5002 the LORDH3068, but beholdH2009, IH595 will cause eachH376 manH120 to fallH4672 into the handsH3027 of his neighborH7453 andH3027 his kingH4428, who will devastateH3807 the landH776, and I will notH3808 deliver itH5337 from their handsH3027.”

7So I pasturedH7462 the flockH6629 marked for slaughterH2028, especiallyH3651 the afflictedH6041 of the flockH6629. Then I tookH3947 for myself twoH8147 staffsH4731, callingH7121 oneH259 FavorH5278 and the otherH259H7121 UnionH2256, and I pasturedH7462 the flockH6629. 8And in oneH259 monthH3391 I dismissedH3582 threeH7969 shepherdsH7462.

My soulH5315 grew impatientH7114 with the flock, and their soulsH5315 alsoH1571 detestedH973 me. 9Then I saidH559, “I will no longerH3808 shepherd youH7462. Let the dyingH4191 dieH4191, and the perishingH3582 perishH3582; and let those who remainH7604 devourH398 oneH802 another’sH7468 fleshH1320.”

Thirty Pieces of Silver

(Matthew 27:3–10)

10Next I tookH3947 my staffH4731 called FavorH5278 and cut it in twoH1438,2 revokingH6565 the covenantH1285 I had madeH3772 withH854 allH3605 the nationsH5971. 11It was revokedH6565 on thatH1931 dayH3117, and soH3651 the afflictedH6041 of the flockH6629 who were watchingH8104 meH853 knewH3045 thatH3588 itH1931 was the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068.

12Then I toldH559 themH413, “IfH518 it seemsH5869 right to youH2896, give meH3051 my wagesH7939; but ifH518 notH3808, keep themH2308.” So they weighed outH8254 my wagesH7939, thirtyH7970 pieces of silverH3701.

13And the LORDH3068 saidH559 to meH413, “ThrowH7993 it toH413 the potterH3335”—this magnificentH145 priceH3366 at whichH834 they valued meH3365H5921. So I tookH3947 the thirtyH7970 pieces of silverH3701 and threwH7993 themH853 toH413 the potterH3335 in the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068.

14Then I cut in twoH1438 my secondH8145 staffH4731 called UnionH2256, breakingH6565 the brotherhoodH264 betweenH996 JudahH3063H996 and IsraelH3478.

15And the LORDH3068 saidH559 to meH413: “Take upH3947 once moreH5750 the equipmentH3627 of a foolishH196 shepherdH7462. 16ForH3588 beholdH2009, IH595 will raise upH6965 a shepherdH7462 in the landH776 who will neitherH3808 care forH6485 the lostH3582, norH3808 seekH1245 the youngH5289, nor healH7495 the brokenH7665, norH3808 sustainH3557 the healthyH5324H3808, but he will devourH398 the fleshH1320 of the choiceH1277 sheep and tear offH6561 their hoovesH6541.

17WoeH1945 to the worthlessH457 shepherdH7462,who desertsH5800 the flockH6629!May a swordH2719H5921 strike his armH2220H5921and his rightH3225 eyeH5869!May his armH2220 be completely witheredH3001and his rightH3225 eyeH5869 utterly blindedH3543!”
