Elihu Describes God’s Power
1And ElihuH453 continuedH3254H559:
2“BearH3803 with me a little longerH2191, and I will show youH2331thatH3588 there is moreH5750 to be saidH4405 on God’s behalfH433.3I getH5375 my knowledgeH1843 from afarH7350,and I will ascribeH5414 justiceH6664 to my MakerH6466.4ForH3588 trulyH551 my wordsH4405 are free ofH3808 falsehoodH8267;one perfectH8549 in knowledgeH1844 is with youH5973.
5IndeedH2005, GodH410 is mightyH3524, but He despisesH3988 no oneH3808;He is mightyH3524 in strengthH3581 of understandingH3820.6He does notH3808 keep the wickedH7563 aliveH2421,but He grantsH5414 justiceH4941 to the afflictedH6041.7He does notH3808 takeH1639 His eyesH5869 off the righteousH6662,but He enthrones themH3678H3427 withH854 kingsH4428and exalts themH1361 foreverH5331.
8And ifH518 men are boundH631 with chainsH2131,caughtH3920 in cordsH2256 of afflictionH6040,9then He tellsH5046 them their deedsH6467and howH3588 arrogantlyH1396 they have transgressedH6588.10He opensH1540 their earsH241 to correctionH4148and commandsH559 thatH3588 they turnH7725 from iniquityH205.11IfH518 they obeyH8085 and serveH5647 Him,then they endH3615 their daysH3117 in prosperityH2896and their yearsH8141 in happinessH5273.12But ifH518 they do notH3808 obeyH8085,then they perishH5674 by the swordH79731and dieH1478 withoutH1097 knowledgeH1847.
13The godlessH2611 in heartH3820 harborH7760 resentmentH639;even whenH3588 He binds themH631, they do notH3808 cry for helpH7768.14TheyH5315 dieH4191 in their youthH5290,among the male shrine prostitutesH6945.15God rescuesH2502 the afflictedH6041 by their afflictionH60402and opensH1540 their earsH241 in oppressionH3906.
16IndeedH637, He drew youH5496 from the jawsH6310 of distressH6862to a spaciousH3808H4164H8478H5183 and broad placeH7338,to a tableH7979 fullH4390 of richnessH1880.17But now you are ladenH4390 with the judgmentH1779 due the wickedH7563;judgmentH1779 and justiceH4941 have seized youH8551.18Be carefulH2534 that no oneH6435 luresH5496 you with richesH5607;do notH408 let a largeH7227 bribeH3724 lead you astrayH5186.19Can your wealthH77693 or allH3605 your mighty effortH3981H3581keepH6186 you fromH3808 distressH6862?20Do notH408 long forH7602 the nightH3915,when peopleH5971 vanishH5927 from their homesH8478.21Be carefulH8104 notH408 to turnH6437 toH413 iniquityH205,forH3588 thisH2088 you have preferredH977 to afflictionH6040.
22BeholdH2005, GodH410 is exaltedH7682 in His powerH3581.WhoH4310 is a teacherH4175 like HimH3644?23WhoH4310 has appointedH6485 His wayH1870 for HimH5921,orH4310 told HimH559, ‘You have doneH6466 wrongH5766’?24RememberH2142 to magnifyH7679 His workH6467,whichH834 menH582 have praised in songH7891.25AllH3605 mankindH120 has seenH2372 it;menH582 behold itH5027 from afarH7350.26IndeedH2005, GodH410 is greatH7689—beyondH3808 our knowledgeH3045;the numberH4557 of His yearsH8141 is unsearchableH3808H2714.27ForH3588 He draws upH1639 dropsH5198 of waterH4325which distillH2212 the rainH4306 from the mistH108,28whichH834 the cloudsH7834 pour outH5140and showerH7491 abundantlyH7227 onH5921 mankindH120.29FurthermoreH637H518, who can understandH995 how the cloudsH5645 spread outH4666,how the thunder roarsH8663 from His pavilionH5521?30See howH2005 He scattersH6566 His lightningH216 around HimH5921and coversH3680 the depthsH8328 of the seaH3220.31ForH3588 by these He judgesH17774 the nationsH5971and providesH5414 foodH400 in abundanceH4342.32He fillsH3680 His handsH3709 with lightningH216and commandsH6680 itH5921 to strike its markH6293.33The thunderH7452 declaresH5046 His presence;even the cattleH4735H637 regardH5921 the risingH5927 storm.
