2becauseכִּ֣יkiH3588they had notלֹ֧אlo'H3808metקִדְּמ֛וּki.de.MuH6923אֶת־'et-H853the Israelitesבְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖לbe.Nei Yis.ra.'ElH1121H3478with foodבַּלֶּ֣חֶםba.Le.chemH3899and waterוּבַמָּ֑יִםu.va.Ma.yimH4325,but had hiredוַיִּשְׂכֹּ֨רvai.yis.KorH7936Balaamבִּלְעָם֙bil.'AmH1109אֶת־'et-H853to call down a curseלְקַֽלְל֔וֹle.ka.LoH7043against themעָלָ֤יו'a.LavH5921(although our Godאֱלֹהֵ֛ינוּ'e.lo.Hei.nuH430had turnedוַיַּהֲפֹ֧ךְvai.ya.ha.FokhH2015the curseהַקְּלָלָ֖הha.ke.la.LahH7045into a blessingלִבְרָכָֽה׃liv.ra.KhahH1293).
4Now beforeוְלִפְנֵ֣יve.lif.NeiH6440thisמִזֶּ֔הmi.ZehH2088,Eliashibאֶלְיָשִׁיב֙'el.ya.ShivH475the priestהַכֹּהֵ֔ןha.ko.HenH3548,a relativeקָר֖וֹבka.RovH7138of Tobiahלְטוֹבִיָּֽה׃le.toi.YahH2900,had been put in charge ofנָת֖וּןna.TunH5414the storeroomsבְּלִשְׁכַּ֣תbe.lish.KatH3957of the houseבֵּית־beit-H1004of our Godאֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ'e.lo.Hei.nuH430
5and had preparedוַיַּ֨עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213for Tobiaha largeגְדוֹלָ֗הge.do.LahH1419roomלִשְׁכָּ֣הlish.KahH3957whereוְשָׁ֣ם הָי֪וּve.Sham ha.YuH8033H1961they had previouslyלְפָנִ֟יםle.fa.NimH6440storedנֹ֠תְנִיםNo.te.nimH5414אֶת־'et-H853the grain offeringsהַמִּנְחָ֨הha.min.ChahH4503,the frankincenseהַלְּבוֹנָ֜הha.le.vo.NahH3828,the temple articlesוְהַכֵּלִ֗יםve.ha.ke.LimH3627,and the tithesוּמַעְשַׂ֤רu.ma'.SarH4643of grainהַדָּגָן֙ha.da.GanH1715,new wineהַתִּיר֣וֹשׁha.ti.Ro.oshH8492,and oilוְהַיִּצְהָ֔רve.hai.yitz.HarH3323prescribedמִצְוַת֙mitz.VatH4687for the Levitesהַלְוִיִּ֔םhal.vi.YimH3881,singersוְהַמְשֹׁרְרִ֖יםve.ham.sho.re.RimH7891,and gatekeepersוְהַשֹּׁעֲרִ֑יםve.ha.sho.'a.RimH7778,along with the contributionsוּתְרוּמַ֖תu.te.ru.MatH8641for the priestsהַכֹּהֲנִֽים׃ha.ko.ha.NimH3548.
6While allוּבְכָל־u.ve.Khol-H3605thisזֶ֕הzehH2088was happeningהָיִ֖יתִיha.Yi.tiH1961,I was notלֹ֥אlo'H3808in Jerusalemבִּֽירוּשָׁלִָ֑םbi.ru.sha.LimH3389,becauseכִּ֡יkiH3588I had returnedבָּ֣אתִיBa.tiH935toאֶל־'el-H413Artaxerxesלְאַרְתַּחְשַׁ֤סְתְּאle.'ar.tach.Shast'H783kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Babylonבָּבֶל֙ba.VelH894in the thirty-secondשְׁלֹשִׁ֨ים וּשְׁתַּ֜יִםshe.lo.Shim u.she.Ta.yimH7970H8147yearבִּשְׁנַת֩bish.NatH8141of his reignהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428.Some time laterוּלְקֵ֥ץ יָמִ֖יםu.le.Ketz ya.MimH7093H3117I obtained leaveנִשְׁאַ֥לְתִּיnish.'Al.tiH7592fromמִן־min-H4480the kingהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428

9Then I orderedוָאֹ֣מְרָ֔הva.'O.me.RahH559that the roomsהַלְּשָׁכ֑וֹתha.le.sha.KhotH3957be purifiedוַֽיְטַהֲר֖וּvay.ta.ha.RuH2891,and I had the articlesכְּלֵי֙ke.LeiH3627of the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430אֶת־'et-H853restoredוָאָשִׁ֣יבָהva.'a.Shi.vahH7725to themשָּׁ֗םShamH8033,along with the grain offeringsהַמִּנְחָ֖הha.min.ChahH4503and frankincenseוְהַלְּבוֹנָֽה׃ פve.ha.le.vo.NahH3828.
