Nehemiah 9:22-35

22Moreover thou gavest them kingdomsH4467 and peoplesH5971, which thou didst allot after their portions: so they possessedH3423 the landH776 of SihonH5511, even the landH776 of the kingH4428 of HeshbonH2809, and the landH776 of OgH5747 kingH4428 of BashanH1316. 23Their children also multipliedst thou as the starsH3556 of heavenH8064, and broughtest them into the landH776 concerningH413 which thou didst sayH559 to their fathersH1, that they should goH935 in to possessH3423 it. 24So the children wentH935 in and possessedH3423 the landH776, and thou subduedst before them the inhabitantsH3427 of the landH776, the CanaanitesH3669, and gavest them into their handsH3027, with their kingsH4428, and the peoplesH5971 of the landH776, that they might do with them as they would. 25And they tookH3920 fortifiedH1219 citiesH5892, and a fatH8080 landH127, and possessedH3423 housesH1004 fullH4392 of all goodH2898 things, cisternsH953 hewn out, vineyardsH3754, and oliveyards, and fruit-trees in abundanceH7230: so they did eatH398, and were filled, and became fatH8080, and delighted themselves in thy greatH1419 goodnessH2898.

26Nevertheless they were disobedientH4784, and rebelledH4784 against thee, and castH7993 thy lawH8451 behind their backH7725, and slewH2026 thy prophetsH5030 that testifiedH5749 against them to turnH7725 them again unto thee, and they wrought greatH1419 provocations. 27Therefore thou deliveredst them into the handH3027 of their adversaries, who distressed them: and in the timeH6256 of their troubleH6869, when they criedH6817 unto thee, thou heardest from heavenH8064; and according to thy manifold mercies thou gavest them saviours who savedH3467 them out of the handH3027 of their adversaries. 28But after they had restH5117, they did evilH7451 again before thee; therefore leftest thou them in the handH3027 of their enemiesH341, so that they had the dominion over them: yet when they returnedH7725, and criedH2199 unto thee, thou heardest from heavenH8064; and manyH7227 timesH6256 didst thou deliverH5337 them according to thy mercies, 29and testifiedst against them, that thou mightest bringH7725 them again unto thy lawH8451. Yet they dealt proudly, and hearkened not unto thy commandmentsH4687, but sinnedH2398 against thine ordinancesH4941 (which if a manH120 do, he shall liveH2421 in them), and withdrew the shoulderH3802, and hardenedH7185 their neckH6203, and would not hearH8085. 30Yet manyH7227 yearsH8141 didst thou bear with them, and testifiedst against them by thy SpiritH7307 through thy prophetsH5030: yet would they not giveH5414 earH238: therefore gavest thou them into the handH3027 of the peoplesH5971 of the landsH776. 31Nevertheless in thy manifold mercies thou didst not makeH6213 a full end of them, nor forsakeH5800 them; for thou art a graciousH2587 and merciful GodH410.

32NowH6258 thereforeH6258, our GodH430, the greatH1419, the mightyH1368, and the terrible GodH430, who keepest covenantH1285 and lovingkindness, let not all the travail seem littleH4591 before thee, that hath comeH4672 upon us, on our kingsH4428, on our princesH8269, and on our priestsH3548, and on our prophetsH5030, and on our fathersH1, and on all thy peopleH5971, since the time of the kingsH4428 of AssyriaH804 unto this dayH3117. 33Howbeit thou art just in all that is comeH935 upon us; for thou hast dealt truly, but we have done wickedlyH7561; 34neither have our kingsH4428, our princesH8269, our priestsH3548, nor our fathersH1, kept thy lawH8451, nor hearkened unto thy commandmentsH4687 and thy testimoniesH5715 wherewith thou didst testify against them. 35For they have not servedH5647 thee in their kingdomH4438, and in thy greatH7227 goodnessH2898 that thou gavest them, and in the large and fat landH776 which thou gavest before them, neither turnedH7725 they from their wickedH7451 worksH5647.
