Lamentations 2
1HowH349 hath the LordH136 covered the daughterH1323 of ZionH6726 with a cloud in his angerH639! He hath castH7993 downH7993 from heavenH8064 unto the earthH776 the beautyH8597 of IsraelH3478, And hath not rememberedH2142 his footstool in the dayH3117 of his angerH639.2The LordH136 hath swallowedH1104 up all the habitations of JacobH3290, and hath not pitied: He hath thrown downH2040 in his wrathH5678 the strongholdsH4013 of the daughterH1323 of JudahH3063; He hath brought them downH2040 to the groundH776; he hath profanedH2490 the kingdomH4467 and the princesH8269 thereof.3He hath cutH1438 off in fierce angerH639 all the hornH7161 of IsraelH3478; He hath drawn backH7725 his rightH3225 handH3225 from before the enemyH341: And he hath burnedH1197 up JacobH3290 like a flamingH3852 fireH784, which devoureth roundH5439 about.4He hath bentH1869 his bowH7198 like an enemyH341, he hath stoodH5324 with his rightH3225 handH3225 as an adversary, And hath slainH2026 all that were pleasant to the eyeH5869: In the tentH168 of the daughterH1323 of ZionH6726 he hath pouredH8210 out his wrathH2534 like fireH784.5The LordH136 is becomeH1961 as an enemyH341, he hath swallowedH1104 up IsraelH3478; He hath swallowedH1104 up all her palaces, he hath destroyedH7843 his strongholdsH4013; And he hath multipliedH7235 in the daughterH1323 of JudahH3063 mourning and lamentation.6And he hath violentlyH2554 taken away his tabernacle, as if it were of a gardenH1588; he hath destroyedH7843 his placeH4150 of assembly: Jehovah hath caused solemn assembly and sabbathH7676 to be forgottenH7911 in ZionH6726, And hath despised in the indignationH2195 of his angerH639 the kingH4428 and the priestH3548.7The Lord hath cast off his altarH4196, he hath abhorred his sanctuaryH4720; He hath givenH5414 up into the handH3027 of the enemyH341 the wallsH2346 of her palaces: They have madeH5414 a noise in the houseH1004 of Jehovah, as in the dayH3117 of a solemn assembly.8Jehovah hath purposed to destroyH7843 the wallH2346 of the daughterH1323 of ZionH6726; He hath stretchedH5186 out the line, he hath not withdrawn his handH3027 from destroyingH7843; And he hath made the rampartH2426 and wallH2346 to lament; they languishH535 togetherH3162.9Her gatesH8179 are sunkH2883 into the groundH776; he hath destroyedH6 and brokenH7665 her barsH1280: Her kingH4428 and her princesH8269 are among the nationsH1471 where the lawH8451 is not; Yea, her prophetsH5030 findH4672 no visionH2377 from Jehovah.10The eldersH2205 of the daughterH1323 of ZionH6726 sitH3427 upon the groundH776, they keep silence; They have cast up dustH6083 upon their headsH7218; they have girdedH2296 themselves with sackclothH8242: The virginsH1330 of JerusalemH3389 hang down their headsH7218 to the groundH776.11Mine eyesH5869 do failH3615 with tearsH1832, my heart is troubled; My liverH3516 is pouredH8210 upon the earthH776, because of the destructionH7667 of the daughterH1323 of my peopleH5971, Because the young childrenH5768 and the sucklings swoon in the streets of the city.12They sayH559 to their mothersH517, WhereH346 is grainH1715 and wineH3196? When they swoon as the woundedH2491 in the streets of the cityH5892, When their soulH5315 is pouredH8210 out into their mothers’H517 bosomH2436.13What shall I testify unto thee? what shall I likenH1819 to thee, O daughterH1323 of JerusalemH3389? What shall I compare to thee, that I may comfortH5162 thee, O virginH1330 daughterH1323 of ZionH6726? For thy breach is greatH1419 like the seaH3220: who can healH7495 thee?14Thy prophetsH5030 have seenH2372 for thee false and foolish visions; And they have not uncoveredH1540 thine iniquityH5771, to bringH7725 backH7725 thy captivityH7622, But have seenH2372 for thee false oracles and causes of banishment.15All that passH5674 by clapH5606 their handsH3709 at thee; They hissH8319 and wag their headH7218 at the daughterH1323 of JerusalemH3389, sayingH559, Is this the cityH5892 that men called The perfection of beautyH3308, The joyH4885 of the whole earthH776?16All thine enemiesH341 have openedH6475 their mouthH6310 wide against thee; They hissH8319 and gnashH2786 the teethH8127; they sayH559, We have swallowedH1104 her up; Certainly this is the dayH3117 that we lookedH7200 for; we have foundH4672, we have seenH7200 it.17Jehovah hath done that which he purposed; he hath fulfilled his wordH565 that he commandedH6680 in the daysH3117 of old; He hath thrown downH2040, and hath not pitied: And he hath caused the enemyH341 to rejoiceH8055 over thee; he hath exaltedH7311 the hornH7161 of thine adversaries.18Their heartH3820 criedH6817 unto the LordH136: O wallH2346 of the daughterH1323 of ZionH6726, let tearsH1832 run down like a riverH5158 dayH3119 and nightH3915; GiveH5414 thyself no respite; let not the apple of thine eyeH5869 cease.19AriseH6965, cryH7442 out in the nightH3915, at the beginning of the watchesH821; PourH8210 out thy heartH3820 like waterH4325 before the faceH6440 of the LordH136: LiftH5375 up thy handsH3709 toward him for the lifeH5315 of thy young childrenH5768, that faint for hungerH7458 at the headH7218 of every streetH2351.20SeeH7200, O Jehovah, and behold to whom thou hast done thusH3541! Shall the womenH802 eatH398 their fruitH6529, the childrenH5768 that are dandled in the hands? Shall the priestH3548 and the prophetH5030 be slainH2026 in the sanctuaryH4720 of the Lord?21The youthH5288 and the oldH2205 manH5288 lieH7901 on the groundH776 in the streetsH2351; My virginsH1330 and my youngH5288 menH5288 are fallenH5307 by the swordH2719: Thou hast slainH2026 them in the dayH3117 of thine angerH639; thou hast slaughteredH2873, and not pitied.22Thou hast calledH7121, as in the dayH3117 of a solemn assembly, my terrorsH4032 on every side; And there wasH1961 none that escaped or remained in the dayH3117 of Jehovah’s angerH639: Those that I have dandled and brought up hath mine enemyH341 consumed.
